Ok. Episode is worse.

Good God. I am going to need some alcohol tonight.

You know when you watch a certain type of drama you come in expecting tragedy and death. I don't know what I thought this drama was about but whatever I thought I was wrong

I just finished ep 18. I think I need some time to recover before episode 19.

Zhuang Shiyang is a memorable villain alright. I am going to be traumatised for life by this episode.

Its definitely supposed to be one showing adults in their 20s. After university.

However heck if I can see how she is an adult. Or he as an adult especially in ep 27-21 where they evolved separately.

The 2nd couple made no sense.

I struggled to see the maturity. It was love at first sight for him I think. Hers was attraction to someone on a pedestal.

Its not nonsensical writing you understand. There are worse dramas around. However based on the fan based for the female lead and maybe the male actor I was wondering what kind of budget or who the screenwriter was. It didn't look like a cheap production so its the writing. Its stitled and even when it wanted to used the cliches from ep 17 that was quite badly done. Poorly executed.

I think this drama is best watched with no spoilers and previews. I have just finished ep 16 and 17.

The speculations is driving me nuts. I am now going to get some out of office work done. There are some real issues happening in my real life at work so for once even I can safely say that trumps my drama addiction. That is something I rarely say.

See you all on Monday. I cannot deal with all these single episodes for a thriller drama. Forget about romance. I have dropped it by now at ep 17. Anyone that hopes for sweet love and sweet moments are watching the wrong show.

Its only ep 18 tonight or is ep 19 airing as well?

He had a child within 1 year of marriage.

I reviewed it but it didn't show up.

I've completed it. The rating is 7.5.

All 3 romantic couples were extremely and badly written. The romance history does not follow logic. The break up period or rationales not logical.

The only redemption is or are the actual outdoor cinematography. The endless safety warnings were embarrassing. Did the Chinese production team think their Chinese citizens were that stupid?

The cultural aspects or population scene in this drama was thrown in for effect and totally made me cringe.

Any vegans watching this drama? I am not but one scene made me regret being carnivorous.

The actress does take diverse roles. I am watching dramas just because she is in it. She is picking dramas that I normally don't watch but because I like her I come along to see what she is choosing.

Its good. There are a lot of negative comments about this drama below my comments. That's why I poste so there are actually comments - like from moi- about why this drama is good. I actually have PTSD about what happened to the 2nd leads in My Journey to you that even subsequent dramas by the actors have no erased.

I am all for civil discussions not ranting. There is nothing that bad in this drama that requires that much ranting. The writer hasn't made the characters do unspeakable evil and what- not.

Is this drama scary? I am wondering if I should start once it ends.

Oh scary as in not the scary for the surgery part. Well normal surgery scenes since blood and gore doesn't bother me.

Its how evil scary is it? That's what I am asking. Thank you.

The Double? I like it. Have watched twice actually but it wasn't surprising. Just a good drama.

The concubine in this drama is my kind of evil. I disliked the Princess Royal's overly dramatic histrionics there.

My journey to you? Oh yeah that was hardcore tough for the leads. However that was a drama which I dislike. Great drama. But not to my taste because of the leads and chemistry. The 2nd leads were my thing.

So there you go. Its different tastes for the same drama

Watch something light then.

I am rewatching Love Me, Love My voice because of the OSTs. There are definite good characters there.

Even New life has bad characters. And this is from me and I've rewatched that drama.

Or go pick a novel. I have had issues getting enough dramas to watch in Feb so am reading my old novels and watching some dramas I've liked before. I've even watch the slowest cooking show ever on Netflix. The Blank board menu I think. Or go watch The Hungry and the hairy.

Basically don't watch historical drama for a week or so. If you are that spitting angry- then take a break. I do it all the time

Wait... there is a drama full of evil characters but man it was cathartic. Study Group. I don't even normally watch these sort of dramas.

There has been a few. I actually quietly drop about 3 other dramas where there were determined females.

C'est la vie. Don't sweat it.

So after dropping several popular dramas I find this totally gripping. The main draw is actually the writing and directing. The others had good acting but I really like that the writing is not idiotic here. Still determined female role but it doesn't shove it in my face and I did find the male leads irritating in those other dramas.

Good luck with your new one. I can't work out what was infuriating about episode 13. I also never like any drama enough to watch any episode 7 times.

You might want to read more cultural notes about the society at that time.

Plus how intergenerational families treat and call each other or treat the families.

If the official wife can adopt a concubine's child or the harem live together- this is not the modern context which you can apply modern values too.

Children won't object like those modern movies bratty kids have diffculty accepting. Where they play tricks on dad's new girlfriend etc.

The filial piety concept alone will usually make the child do the token acceptance and she will call her mother if the father tells her to.

Just watch 1-3 episodes. You'll either love it or continue to watch.

However you can also wait for it to end and binge because its kinda terrible waiting fot daily episodes.

Then don't watch it. There is a new drama which just started where I don't see the male lead as the character. Even though he is a great actor. I am not watching that drama. However I didn't bother even going to comment on that drama site. So why comment here?

Just move on then. There should be at least 10 other airing dramas you can choose from.

The only thing that jars me each time is every time she calld him older brother in law. There is this constant reminder of the ranking within the family. Its not reflected in the English subs of course.

I am completely fine with the romance. I am just waiting for it to start so she will stop calling him jiefu. Vs yelling out his full name.

Episode 15 was a surprise to me. I don't know if its because I don't watch trailers or don't know of any novel contents.

Or is it the delivery? Or the bad characters are more vicious than normal.

It was a great episode story- wise. I just don't know why I am shocked each time at how nasty the nasty people are here.

I literally don't know how episode 16 will. That is great as a viewer to as you don't want to have a boring drama. However at this point I am beginning to wonder if the other dramas are so predictable or what.

I just cannot believe that I've hit a drama where I am genuinely surprised each night. This combination of writing, directing, casting and acting is too good.

On a side note how thin must one be when the voluminous layers of clothing still makes the FL look so thin? She looks like she is 45kg or something. Too thin. She looks fantastic on screen but she is thinner than slim.

I tell you what; my brain couldn't keep up with the plot twists.

I honestly think the excellent acting from everyone made me believe whatever they believe. I know some of the plot developments have happened before in previous dramas but this drama is so intense I'm just carries along for the ride. I couldn't have imagine the ending for the night.

Doesn't Luo Zheng longer dramas and not web dramas?
