Tang Qi finds out what is going on in episode 21 or 22, IIRC.
Thanks! The humour is what's getting me through the frustration. I just like to have a timeline cause the whole misunderstanding and superficial attraction/love on the ML's part is not making me like him. Although I understand he's naive about love, I'm definitely looking forward to the character progression. I like a lot of the themes that this drama is exploring so I'm intrigued and hope I'll make it through all 32 episodes.
When does he find out she is Su Miao? Just want to know for reference since I just started this and am getting a bit frustrated by all the misunderstandings. Currently I am on ep 5
His cowardice and how he act like a "rat" to cover up for his wrongdoings is what makes him being like his foster…
RXW honestly never loved him, but she did try to get along with him as husband and wife. Problem is ZSY is a terribly human being, who will kill anyone, even his own family to ensure his survival. It's not just his inferiority complex that's the problem. It's also that he is obsessive, greedy, and selfish/narcissistic to the core. It makes me laugh with disbelief at how he has been pretending to be a weak willed man all this time and gotten away with it. He's a coward yes, but he's a smart and manipulative one, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to survive for so long.
We all suspect that Hanyan is not his daughter and is Yuwenβs daughter. It is now confirmed in the spoiler below:https://youtu.be/MMifl0vVAvk?si=mByY1VqRiufUsabj
The thing with that channel is it often takes details from the novels and then posits what will happen. Si Jin was actually pretty accurately adapted plot wise compared to a lot of other novel to drama conversion so it doesn't surprise me they didn't mess up. But I've seen some dramas they've spoiled to be completely different from what they said would happen cause the scriptwriters decided to change the storylines completely.

this channel is known for being inaccurate and also the official trailers haven't shown this to be the truth
I am sorry but it is too artificial except a few scenes. I can understand FL is a journalist but she goes wherever…
The artificiality is standard for these type of drama I feel. Krama did it too in dramas like Descendants of the Sun. They have to give the fl and ml a reason to interact, even if it's not realistic. π I think realistic war/disaster/aid dramas are really hard to find in asian dramas
I watched it all the way through twice and still don't understand it.
yeah ep 12 is a partial resolution of ep 11 so if you weren't paying attention it can get confusing but if this romance isn't your cup of tea I get it. These two are really staid and mature in how they interact and get to know each other at this point (except for the moment when he calls her jie jie). Although episode 14 is certainly changing my mind! Shou Hua is vindictive! π€£

Exactly! The man literally went from being annoyed with having to take her on as a wife because of the debt between their families to suddenly sending her love notes/poetry. Why should she trust him at all! π€£

Her objection I think was more towards how he handle the whole issue with YZM. She's embarrassed right after the YZM issue with him because of the language he uses with her - calling her 'older sister' and asking for her to take care of him and saying he'll care for her too. Lol she's utterly flabbergasted at his sudden coquettishness.
She didn't want his help to solve the issue with the outrageous bet because she didn't want the Liu family to be beholden to him later on. Essential, she doesn't see him as a husband that she can rely on and trust because they're strangers that just got married. The ML know she was smart enough to get herself out of trouble so he didn't rush over to help, but spent the time anxiously waiting with Chai An until everything was resolved and he swooped in at the very end. Also he's smart enough to know that his help might not be welcomed. The FL is still trying to test him and see if he's someone she can accept as a husband, while he is trying to win her over. He passed her first test at the very end of the episode - although that's just my guess cause all she said is 'I've gotten the first answer I need." and then she gives him the clue to her next test. Basically this is what ep 13 is about. Hope that makes sense and helps.
Flourishing peony's FL is highly independent, business focused, and inherently lacks trust in the male species because of her past experience. The FL, Shou Hua, here on the other hand is simply trying to ascertain whether the ML is someone she is willing to accept as a husband. If she doesn't accept, she has been clear she's willing to accept an amicable divorce and go back to her mother's house or even become a nun.
Yes, i also want them to fully trust their husband. Or else its creating gap between their bondings. Just like…
Maybe because he is a smart ass that sits on his high moral horse without any regard for those who can't reach his unrealistic standards. he's also two-faced - he did say he wouldn't respect a widow marrying again and not holding to widow chastity - but lo and behold SH's pretty face made him changes his mind (so superficial). He, himself, can't even stand by his high morals.

CA and DYX are too proud to come help unless their wives asked them too, while FLH is too scared to not help. π Also someone needed to keep DYX company since he's still not familiar enough with his wife and her family to just reach out and give a helping hand, so CH has to be it until we get more brother-in-laws added to the group.
don't you all dare to ignore me......the scene in which Du yangxi beat Shou hua with stick, has aired yet????
not sure, but in ep 12 it shows that he actually slapped himself not Shou Hua. He did it to create a false impression that he was going to divorce SH so that YZM could get caught for obsessing over SH and trying to kidnap her.
You mean a modernised historical drama? That's fusion historical dramas. This drama isn't marketed as such is it?You…
This is a pretty modernised historical drama too lol. My comment about the screenwriters age is very specifically regarding the humour or comedy written here being rather outdated perhaps because of the scriptwriter's age. This is definitely a fusion drama and I think that the production house intended this drama to be funny and lightheartedly warm family drama, which I can understand the appeal. The unfortunate part is the humour of the script, no matter how well acted by the actors here, fails to come across as funny. Like I can see that they intended to mock the patriarchal and misogynistic attitudes of the male characters, but some of it just doesn't work because the humour is at the expense of the women personal safety/comfort in this drama - example is when they rescued the women but tried to take advantage of the situation by continuing the rues of their kidnapping to gain a favourable impression or to keep the women under their thumbs. Inversely, they also used violence as a means to create laughs - domestic violence in the case of the second sister and attempted assault in the case of the Li mother against the Chai mother. Yes I acknowledge that the acting here is exaggerated and unnatural, which is in line with a comedy drama but the unfortunate reality is that if it's not funny then the drama has failed deliver a great part of what it was advertising as.
the thing is, this scriptwriter also wrote yanxi palace, which imo, was done very VERY well and resulted in one…
For more mature dramas like Yanxi or Nirvana in Fire, I agree, most young scriptwriters just don't have the experience to write such complex scripts. Although there are younger than 50 scriptwriters like Gao Wei (Spirealm), Hu Rong & Qian Jue (Goodbye my princess), Juan Wang ((Joy of Life), etc that have written good scripts. Although when it comes to comedy, I think the younger generation might perhaps have a better grasp of what would be more funny for younger people born after the 70-80s in China. So much has changed culturally in the last 30 years in China so it's understandable the humour would have changed drastically as well.

Thank you for clarify. I'm on the fence a bit with the humour here lol so I won't say it's horrible but some of it is uncomfortable and not funny unfortunately for me to watch. But I'm hooked till the end for this one cause I think it's interested :)
