I have read it and it's making me mad because the explanation is from the novel. The drama should be able to explain itself regardless of the book, and if it isn't clear enough it means that either the writing or the editing aren't good.

There is usually some kind of inner logic in these dramas, even if it's fantasy. In TTEOTM they seem to be contradicting their own logic and timelines.

At this point kind of everything...?
But mostly: the god of war gave her the good essence thing in a dream of the past. If it wasn't really them, how can she now use it to exchange the evil bone?

BIG DILEMMA

I've reached the part in the novel where the drama ended and I don't know if I should continue or not. It feels like of I keep reading I'm giving up on the drama because for me a book is always superior to a live version if I read it first. On the other hand, I'm addicted to the novel and why should I punish myself because of terrible Youku?

I'll have to wait and see. I really hope there is a bit but it isn't the focus because I liked this about Imperial Coroner. I don't like his romantic dramas but I don't really want to watch something with no romantic at all. The slight romance is my favorite tag.

I agree with you about script writers, however to be fair in Chinese dramas and especially in BLs the messy plot could also be the result of censorship. If the creators are told to edit out too many key elements, what's left often feels half baked and chaotic.

It started out great, later on the story turned into a bit of a mess but the chemistry between the couples is worth it. It's a censored Chinese BL like Justice In The Dark.

Ok, so after I'm well into the Mo Du novel, I can truly appreciate how Steven Zhang has brought the character of Fei Du to life. No one could have done this blend of suave and suffering genius imposter any better.
As for Fu Xin Bo as Luo, that's a dilemma. He actually does a really good job and it isn't his fault that I watched Bai Yu in Guardian first... Now THAT would have been perfect.

Is there really no romance here with them together again?

Nope, that's the difference. There hasn't been a drama based on a BL novel since JITD and look what happened. Doesn't give much hope for Immortality and the rest of them.
