Since I am a hopeless romantic, I will make this the topic of this post and just lay out my romance expectations between the leads. Hopefully, it's not too unpopular. First, I do believe the focus is on the FL, so her character arc is going to be the main attraction, at least for me. I'm absolutely okay with this since Zhao Lusi is so very enthralling to watch in scenes, even without the ML present. I do believe, however, the other characters will have their own amazing character arcs which I can't wait to see.
As for the romance, personally, I'm expecting more of a Jane Austen movie adaptation romance. Years ago, I fell insanely head over heels with Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth) Edition. The lead's VERY subtle intimacy was brilliantly done. Sometimes kissing scenes are not even needed to get a sweet or even a bitter sweet romance across.
Also, my discovery of ZLS came in a YouTube video of her and LYN in TLB. It kept popping up on my feed when I really only watched K dramas. I will be honest and say I FF'd through to only watch their scenes together. So, I already know since watching them in TLB, how they can elicit intense and heart skipping, swooning moments together, just by a mere look or touch. I already noticed this in TSOPG trailer at :25, :46, and 1:26 along with a few BTS moments. Even if ZLS and LYN have the exact same intimacy as in TLB, or as Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, I will be very, very satisfied.
For several reasons, I have to sometimes watch dramas w/out the volume up. So, for me, I rely heavily on the actors expressions and natural acting to pull me through the scene. Both leads are perfectly animated and pulling me in with each scene. This was the pairing I didn’t know I needed in a broadcast drama this year.
Jing Tian is actually surprising me with her acting skills!! I’ve always seen her with badass or cold female…
I LOVED ZLH in TSOKP. I held off watching him again in this. He’s been so satisfying to watch. I’m so picky about FLs. I have to love them more than the ML sometimes. I’m REALLY loving her. I agree. Absolute great pairing here!
The live stream was so fun . The cast members seems to be very close to each other. even though they finished…
Cast chemistry can never be underestimated. I’m so glad you posted this. I’ve been waiting to watch him again since binge watching TSOKP a few months ago.
I've watched a few dramas lately where I've had to trust the leads are in love or falling in love, because it's written in the script. Here, watching the ML's gazes and smiles, I have no doubt where his heart is, or at least where it's going. Lately, Korean dramas are firing on all cylinders and hitting every romantic bone for me. The FL, I absolutely love her, and I understand why the ML only has eyes for her.
I was just talking to my son about the importance of cast chemistry. I think it's so important for the leads to have great chemistry, but for the entire cast to have it, it's actually quite extraordinary. This series has nailed it. I'm just loving every minute of this!

Just in case we might be talking about a different drama (because MDL seems very polarizing right now with VERY passionate viewpoints) the drama that disappointed me the most was the Thai series Praomook. I still haven't recovered from the mess the director/writer made of that series, and it's been over two years! But, I've LOVED every one of Lusi's characters, so I'm always optimistic about her projects.
The reservations in youku be moving very slowly Can we hit 1 million reservations already Pleaseee
IKR?! I stalk that site every day for upticks. I do think once they announce the distribution license, it will shoot up. There has been little marketing, as well. And, I absolutely agree on your below comments. I want to watch this now, but I'd rather wait to watch a beautifully crafted drama seven months from now. A series I highly anticipated was ruined after a rushed and chaotic post production. I think they relied too heavily on the CP, but even they couldn't save the drama, IMO.
I've had enough of haters already. They are really getting on my nerves in TPR page.
From what I read, I don’t think Lusi was brought into the discussions. Mostly a tug of war of sorts between those who loved and those who didn’t like the series. But nothing, that I read, was about Lusi. 😊

I was getting ready to go to bed, read your post, and now I'm revisiting EP 6. Her uncle was so funny in this episode. I wonder if he will bring the same comic relief to LA. Okay...back to the show.
I think we have the chance to create the most amazing atmosphere here. The passion for another Zhao Lusi and Liu Yining collaboration is high. The story is laced with hardship, perseverance, and redemption. We already know the cast and the acting is going to be top notch. I actually like that there's no actual finished/published book to compare what the drama is doing right vs what it's doing wrong.
It might be tempting to go down the rabbit hole with the haters and naysayers. However, let us love what we love. Just block them and leave them to frolic in whatever pile of stuff they like to frolic in.
I love that Tang Xiao Tian is in the cast. He's a familiar face with acting experience in a few dramas I really like (My Little Happiness and The Sword and The Brocade). To me, he has a great way of creating characters I can fall in love with (My Little Happiness) and sympathize with (The Sword and The Brocade). I can't wait to see how he brings his character in this drama to life.
