Someday or Someway. If given the choice I’d watch the original for my first experience. But that doesn’t diminish the Korean one, which I think is competent. The one glaring difference for me is the music. So much better in the original

I loved Dark. And it’s a great comparison though the stories are very different. This would be Dark Light. But the idea of characters more advanced on the timeline letting things play out (or not) is a common theme between the stories. I’m only in episode five of the Korean version but I watched the Taiwanese version twice. And Dark 3 times.

The Taiwanese version almost lost me at episode 1, It was badly over acted by those playing characters in the 2019 office, but then the leads took over and the rest of the story became about the best TV I’ve ever seen. I’m glad you are enjoying Time Called You. I’m at episode 5 and so far true to the plot of the original. That means if you are in for a treat the rest of the way. I’m enjoying it but it will be hard to recapture the magic of the Taiwanese version. Why I would have expected anything different is on me

If I had to do it over again and to pick one to watch for the first time, it would be “someday or one day”. That’s not to say A Time Called You” is bad. The original was just pure magic

Competently done, but not lightening in a bottle like the original from Taiwan,which I maintain is the best TV series I’ve ever watched. Especially noticeable is the strength of the soundtrack music in the original compared to the music in a Time Called you. I’m only five eps in but those who only have the Korean drama as context should find the story engaging. In this version the writers avoid the ambiguity and kind of spell things out more. But it’s well done and hasn’t changed the story line at all (five eps in)

Trying to put my finger on why I like this, but I do. I mean there is nothing original about the story and it’s pretty clear this will be an Ai Long Nai plot where not much happens. Other than it’s sure to be a constant shill for 7-11. But maybe it’s because the actors aren’t just pretty to look at. They’ve got some talent. They can actually act. Where I should be cringing I’m not. I mean I basically hate watched Dinosaur Love and I can’t even get up the energy to hate watch My Universe, so it’s not like I’m being charitable judgement on IQIY shows. Seriously. I should hate Venus the Sky. But I don’t. Actually like it.

Don’t get me wrong it ain’t no masterpiece. it’s filled with plenty of eye rolling bad sequences , and it’s about 35 minutes longer than it needs to be. And it could quite easily become check out 2. Lapsing into a coma and accepting death was preferable to watching late episodes in that snore fest. And if they don’t tighten things up, we may be headed there

But there are flashes of hope Take the flashback scene where the two main leads kiss and one immediately fríend zoned the experience. That sequence was actually really well done. Honestly written and the beats in the scene felt honest. There’s not enough of those moments.

Yup. The main couple doesn’t need a Love Class. They need a Love Clinic put on by the secondary couple

The show’s writer has potential. The dialogue is really well written but the plot is a little overstuffed. And some of the young actors are really sharp. The best feature is the realism in the the non melodramatic parts of the show. And the licking a postage stamp type kiss is a pet peeve , especially when the other aspects of the performance are so good. The secondary couple should give lessons. There’s a lot of talent and a lot of potential behind this show. We will definitely see the people involved in this show again, even if the show itself could use a second draft in my opinion

I plead guilty, though those days are long gone. The real BL world forces you to grow up and get out of the way past 30.

It does remind me of my twenties in the real BL world, where let’s face it we are all dogs and bullshit artists until we settle down. Granted the acts as portrayed here are nearly physically impossible, where steering wheels and clothes would otherwise get in the way.

Great review and I couldn’t agree more. It’s been a few months since I watched it but I found nothing comparable since then.

I imagine the show will lose audience in the first ep or two as the result of overloading the establishing story lines, which is an execution error that will cost them. But whoever is writing the dialogue won’t be writing low budget BLs very long. That is some excellent scripted dialogue

This is going to be more than a shallow Skinship show. Besides some of the best Thai BL actors working in this one, it’s got some snappy writing. Like the dialogue between Force and Books characters when they talk about the meaning of that “glass of water”. It just worked. It’s a small detail but it shows there’s talent here.

I’m still putting up with Dinosaur Love just to build up my immunity to really bad dialogue rolling off the tongues of even worse actor

Based on the hot scenes in Only Friends there’s better things to do with my hands than throwing cringe blocks to shield my eyes from cringe inducing BL content. When a cringe block is accompanied by cringe scream. That is me trying to drown out that useless DL lead male whine
