Diva. That’s great news. You are the first person to bring actual homework rather than speculation to the table. Thank you for sharing that. I just knew this wasn’t “ make our days Count” part two. I just needed confirmation.
Of course just because the production team schedules the shoot doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed going to happen so I won’t count my chickens,
Hey, maybe you can address one other thing. If you know, was the show a commercial success in the places where it was meant to make money. I mean MDL/Vikki/Gaga is a bunch of psyched up hard core International BL fans, but unlikely the audience source that delivers the payday. I figure it is broadcast, or premium cable ratings and places like Korea, Japan, Thailand, Philippines etc It would seem to me, even though the show tamed out the man 4 man aspect there was still a lube, joke implying these boys have made it to the some hanky-panky stage (when cameras weren’t running ) so does a show like that even run in mainland China. Based on the Chinese broadcast standards. Translations I’ve read, even twink ish straight dudes are discouraged from getting cast and lead roles. And here we’re at the very least talking about, and ambiguously gay duo. So my suspicion is the show doesn’t even run in its home country. I Hey, sorry for the the hard-core line of inquisition Sorry that’s the reward for doing some homework for the rest of usHonestly, all I’m curious about is whether or not the show achieved its audience , and broke through where the money is to fund another 12 hours of episodes
The first volume of the novel ends here and it picks up with volume two, eight years later. That's why the show…
Good call. I wasn’t aware of the multi part novel only the previous addicted series. That 2007 setting further strengthens the probability that they’re coming back for season two. As I sit here watching the skinship on the wedding plan show I realized how romantic stay with me was with lips touching once
i thought it was a small lube thingy 🤣 thats why he was happy it was in another language
I’m on team lube. …which sounded better in my head than in printed firm. That said it had to be the show runners subtle nod to a deeper relationship than brotherly love. though then call me smearing it on dad’s lips was maybe a step too far.
Yayyyyy……8.5👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Well deserved!Stay By Me has edged out Moonlight…
That high rating will put the series in tons of BL countdown videos. Having it make top of the year end list or close has gotta raise prospects for season two. They can’t leave us hanging.
I agree with your assessment. What’s driving the consensus that there won’t be more?. Like you, I get the…
Hey. Thanks for that. For as many years and as many shows as I’ve been watching BL, I always learn something unique and cool from other fans. Reallt appreciate u sharing that.
For the very reasons you mention (not having read the book) I’m confident they’ll be back for season 2
Jeremy. First welcome to BL land. Second. This show was most certainly top-tier. Other than the restrictions, the Chinese government puts on MM shows (and compared to other countries as far as story goes) you won’t see much better produced written, and acted BL shows than this Finally. I need to be clear about my comment to u. . I have no idea if a season 2 is actually in the works. It’s my opinion based on the way the finale was shot. As I had mentioned in the other comments , there was a show a few years back called, Make Our Days Count that ended in similar fashion, and had such a backlash,—All Hell Broke Loose. And the original tv serried stay was based on (Addicted) also caused all hell to break loose. In fact, it didn’t even get to finish its run, and the actors were separated, after that Last time I heard banned from ever performing together.
So, I didn’t think any show runner was willing to repeat that scenario again , and as a result, I’m assuming this one plans on following the rest of the novel series and continue the story into S2. It’s so well done I hope so.
Addicted originally was produced in China and cancelled before the final eps aired. Make our Days Count was part of Taiwans history series and its ending, was totally out of left field and completely unexpected compared to the episodes leading up to it.
I didn’t think any BL series creator from any country could repeat the Make Our Days Count ending scenario. Again based on the harsh reaction That’s why I’m so confident about a season two
Sorry, that’s probably TMI compared to what you were commenting about I just wanted to steer my fellow traveler straight. Well, not straight you know what I mean
What a ride it's been through this whole season... They did such a wonderful and beautiful job showing the relationship…
I rarely agree with every word of a multi paragraph review, but you wrote as if you were my Chat GPT bot recapping why Stay With Me was so special
I interpreted the showrunner gamble ending with a cliffhanger as you did. But I’d argue it was such a brazen gamble, it’s as if the season 2 option had been picked up before production ended.
Maybe you have an informed opinion about thi. Is the show a commercial hit in the markets where it needed to be to earn a S2? I can’t imagine it’s Vikki subscriptions driving the bus on the revenue side. This was clearly produced for Asian commercial or premium television markets. I think the Showrunners did a good job of staying off main stream audiences gaydar. For those of us looking for the subtle signs of a romantic aspect of the relationship could find them but without tripping the triggers of censorship, advertiser botcotts, or the conservative elements in society that would reject them for content involving MM romance.
Honestly, there’s only one reference that probably triggered my dirty mind into over interpreting. It was the scene where the father finds “lip balm” under the pillow. Clearly, that wasn’t balm. based on Wu Bins relieved expression I assumed it was lube but the uncomfortable moment passed never with references back
Guys should I watch the last 2 episodes? 😭 After seeing the comments I feel like I'll just pretend Ep 22 to…
I’m ok having watched all the way through. But you might have a different opinion. It depends on whether you think the story will continue in season 2 or not or whether you think the show runners want you to reach your own conclusions. As I joked earlier in response to another comment, I’m still waiting for another season of make our days count, so I may not be the best judge Especially because I’m a fan of how MODC ended and am not in the mainstream with that opinion
Although this was the "censored" version of the original novel (and of Addicted), I think this series was well…
I agree with your assessment. What’s driving the consensus that there won’t be more?. Like you, I get the sense by the way it was shot this was not a Sopranos cut to black “let the audience decide” ending but rather a cliffhanger, shot as if a season 2 pickup was in the bag. . Of course I’m still waiting for the continuation of Make Our Days Count” too. So what do I know? Though to be fair to myself, that History episode was littered with ambiguity And it took the Japanese to button thing up in that case .
This adaptation was a great interpretation of book 1! I loved every moment of it. I think I'll do a re-watch of…
Has the show been a commercial success? I hope so because that was not a low budget execution. It was a first class production. That would be my only concern because that was not an ambiguous ending It was pretty purposeful. The way the finale was shot implied the producers knew they’d be picked up for more in my opinion. Without getting into spoilers I can think of better ways of shooting the last scenes if the goal was letting people reach their own conclusions. This ending implied they’d be faithful to the full book series. And that the story continues At least that’s my opinion.
I mean, season 2, sure, but I want the uncut version first!
An uncut version Is that a thing? Because there was at least one plot moment that implied a much deeper relationship than they’d been letting on. You know. lip balm…(no spoilers requested. Just confirmation that there. Otherwise I fully accepted the nebulous Bromance / BL zone the show was occupying
Of course just because the production team schedules the shoot doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed going to happen so I won’t count my chickens,
