I'm glad this drama is still at the top. I recently rewatched it and Episode 8 still made me shed tears.
I remember when I first watched it 2 or 3 years ago thinking wow. Is it just me or was this one really truly special in a one of kind way.? Your comment and it’s perrenial placement at the top of various d drama lists ,like “k Dramas So Good You’ll Want To Soak Youself in Gasoline and Self Immolate” are all the convincing I need. It IS really that good You really did like it nearly as much the second time through? I am mis def up for it

Through ep 6, this series just knocks the wind out of me. It just delivered the highest high and most devastating low experienced in under five minutes and every moment earned through precise writing, epic story telling, and next-level acting. The Eighth Sense is one special, unspeakably beautiful, game changing BL series.

I found a live and translated performance of the title song by Wetter. If you are as starved for ep 5 as I am, the lyrics of this song give a lot of clues about the story at arc so far, even though the song is about the bands early struggles. The lyrics really apply to this budding romance equally. https://youtu.be/SqL0wdaTIWY

And this one. 8 min in The hook is “it doesn’t matter whom I date”. https://youtu.be/IjF8dTvQ57g

Title The Eighth Sense Spoiler
They go from kissing to Jae Won completely ignoring Ji Hyun (it's still not clear to me exactly why that happened)…
I was thinking maybe the whole continuity lapse might have been explained as a coma induced dream sequence after either one of them got injured surfing alone on the final day of the retreat before heading home but then the story continued so throw that theory out the window. Besides the ghosting lasted through the trip back.
And the glitch didn’t start until the chance meeting on the subway. I just think it’s young show runners not having the footage to work with and no budget for reshoots. The show is so important to the BL genre I’ll forgive it and move on. I think the rating here is a little unfair given it’s many elements of greatness that are so well and eloquently written about here.

Try Our Dating Sim too. It's short but very cute and beautiful series ☺️
I loved that one. I hate the fifteen minute el format though they made the most of it

I love this show so much, but there's definitely an editor issue. Like a scene they forgot to include in the cut that would have better explained the "the meeting with an acquaintance" he ditched in favor of the "chance meeting on the train." Unless I missed something. There was a text exchange with his mom about his trip that i may have misconstrued. It almost feels as if some key footage was unusable and they had to explain that sequence after the fact later in episode four. The talent level on this show is just too good to explain the lapse other than perhaps bad luck. I edit for a living and these guys are too good to be that sloppy. Something had to have happened. Some permanently deleted a critical file without backing up the master, or something (Unless I missed something...I even went back and rewatched ep 3). I'm critical only because this show very, very special to me and i'm rooting for the show-runner, writer and actors to get the accolades they deserve. It's such a break-though for the KBL genre. For the BL genre.

I LOVE THIS SHOW. I'm so glad this is my first kbl. Usually I only watch thai bls. The cinematography, the acting,…
I've watched all of them, and your timing is great. You hit triple gold on the KBL series slot machine. The only other series from Korea in its league is Semantic Error and (depending upon your tolerance for stress and heartache) To My Star 1 & 2. You'll be spoiled for life if you watch at least those first two (or three) back to back. But I couldn't agree with your review of the Eighth Sense more..every word of it.

so refreshing to see exchanges that don't give away every obvious detail. we love a writer who doesn't underestimate…
Well said. The formula that makes the BL genre successful with its core 16 - 24 year-old female demographic can still be followed, while surprising and delighting with scripts that that gives the audience credit for understanding what doesn't need to be spoken, especially when you've cast with actors who can convey so much meaning in a simple fleeing glance. This series is so unspeakably beautiful. So real and authentic, the audience can practically reach out and touch it.

This is outrageously good. Someone take my temperature, I'm feeling faint. What a game changer this BL is. I know…
Thank you for expressing how deeply this series makes me feel.

I would say the major part of why this is shining so much is because there is European input rather than a solely…
I noticed what appeared to be a German name in the opening credits This series hits different than any Asian BL I’ve seen. It has a Donnie darko vibe

This took me months to finish. Like enjoying the taste of wine for the first time. Bitter and sour at first then smooth and tasty, and by the last episode an incredible complex aftertaste that made me really appreciate it. One of the best BL finales ever. Primo vintage.

Is anyone else TERRIFIED that they're getting too hyped for this show? On one hand I love it cause it's been awhile…
yes. I loved the first two episodes so much I'm scared to watch the next two for fear my high expectations will come crashing down. I LOVe this show. Getting up the courage to watch.

This is as good as BL series get. This more realistic portrayal hits with those of us living in the real BL world. The tough breakup, "let's no make things complicated", and the struggles that come with being both poor and gay are themes that truly resonate. Earth's acting, and the two kids from "My School President" were the standouts to me in a sea of standout performances from GMMTV's best. Storytelling at its best. I'm two eps into "The Eighth Sense, and these two series -- along with MSP -- are the top series of 2023, in a year really blowing the ceiling off quality BL writing, acting, and production.

Actually I disagree with the negative comments on The Promise EP 1 and 2. In fact those two episodes were great,…
Im sticking with the promise . It’s not that show is bad, but like snowregret, it just did not live up to the “promise” it showed me in the prequel to rise to possibly top 1 percent status I am pretty much out of the demographic for the slide whistle bongo drum light slapstick that’s a formula for most BLs. I have now seen so many, I admit I’ve turned into a snob. But I really appreciate great writing, cinematography and acting on those rare occasions where it rises to a truly special level in the BL genre. My standards are impossibly high now and I didn’t mean to disparage the show. Snow’s comment just hit a nerve with me (in a good way) and I had to respond. There’s so much worse to pick on than the promise. It didn’t pull a check out …where. Really solid pilot de evolved into a WtF for me

WTF? Why has this show been hidden away, getting almost no attention? This is THE best BL out of Thailand since…
I think some of your criticism of Thai BL is fair as far as “assembly line” of plotless pretty boy shows goes. So I wanted to let you know about one show that gets even closer to sunset/moon series excellence than even the The Promise prequel does in my opinion. And by episode 2 of the the new series I find myself further away from epic Sunset standards again.

But I’ve found one that belongs in the same conversation at least.

It’s “Moonlight Chicken” ( though the plot is a little closer to the real or at least realistic world of BL and not the fantasy fluffy world where couples stand by each others’ side forever) starring Thai Bl A listers but with a fantastic script, cinematic sheen and world class direction. No cowbells and slide whistles. Give it a try. I’ really enjoyed the Promise Prequel (but the first two eps of the new series far less) and the PP Krit shows left a void for creative excellence that I’d had to get recently from Korea and Japan. But this GMMTV show should really ring that bell for you too. Moonlight Chicken. It’s everything that checkout, Ah Long Nai and Bite Me is not, just to name a few Thai BL bottom of the barrel scrapers.

As an older person I have to say I loved seeing a portrayal of a mature relationship in a BL. I'm not into watching…
Well said. This was a rare BL series. for those of us who live in the real BL World. I will say, those two kids from My School President are incredible actors .and they held their own with superior veteran talent. This show was special.

This was one of the best BLs I’ve seen.. Especially well acted, written and produced. Authentic and so much closer to the true nature of the real BL World, for those of us who have lived in it

When moon light chicken was announced, earth mix had just broken through to the A-list. But now a year and a half…
I have to say a month after I wrote that I’ve finished 6 episodes of Moonlight Chicken. I thought My School Was such a refreshing take on the high school BL genre but moonlight. Chicken is one of the greatest BL shows I’ve ever seen. I understand that fourth and Gemini shot that before MSP aired. But wow are those two and earth and mix just spectacular actors. I’m in awe of the greatness of Moonlight Chicken

Still a solid show ten episodes in, though for me has come back to earth after hitting a nearly all time great level for a BL series in earlier episodes with really innovative ensemble writing and musical sequences embedded in the story line Episode Five was the peak … one of the best episodes of any BL series. That level is admittedly hard to sustain., but by no means am I selling the overall show short. It’s still way better than most. And Fourth is a superstar actor and singer. One question, was this show always slated to have 12 eps? I thought it was originally supposed to be ten. I’m wondering if the success prompted GMMTV to add weeks to the production. I’m glad we’re not saying goodbye yet even if I’m mistaken
