While the plot isn't the most original and some editing work for episode 2 was kinda subpar, but it's really the young lead actors who are the heart and soul of this show that really raise the bar of the drama. The acting is just up there and sexual tension aside, they really express romantic love in a way I have rarely seen in the BLs I have watched in the past.
If you only watch BLs then there is also Keita Hatsukoi.. that one is also good
I personally enjoy Kieta Hatsukoi myself. My serotonin drama recently, but it falls under the same category to me like Fish Upon the Sky and Cherry Magic. I watch them for entertainment and I would definitely rewatch them when I feel down.
Bad Buddy, if they follow the premise of the novel (of course there would be changes but the premise should still stand despite modifications) is honestly closer to A Tale of a Thousand Stars in terms of mood, but a lot of people tend to clump it with the Fish Upon the Sky or Kieta Hatsukoi category simply because Bad Buddy opens with a school setting.
OMG. I knew absolutely nothing, zero, about Kieta Hatsukoi. Until I saw it mentioned in your message right here.…
As someone who watches both, they're like apples and oranges.
Kieta Hatsukoi is saccharine and a serotonin boost. Cute drama about young people falling in love, very light hearted.
Bad Buddy, though not yet obvious at this point, is a more deeper romance. It's a very us against the world kind of romance, kind of similar to Until We Meet Again with sprinkles of comedy. It's supposed to hit you in the feels as the story unfolds (which really hasn't yet since we are at the intro)
Okay ... I rewatched it now, and I think it's not PatPran, it's PranPat. And it's not OhmNanon either. It's NanonOhm,…
Same, especially with Pran making the first move in getting the Line ID.
I feel the show will be challenging our perception of top/bottom tropes because it's easy to assume that Pat is bulkier and more alpha personality-wise, hence he's the top. Meanwhile, organized, neat, and artsy Pran fits a lot of people's bottom stereotype.
The novel really moved me and it is why I really am hyped for this show even if they won't follow the book 100% because the premise still stands
