Pretty sure this drama was slated to have more episodes but they had to cut it down to 32, and that arc in particular…
why did they cut it down?

"Chubby would have gobbled up Tushan Jing and spat out his entrails." LMAO especially that he's now an old drunkard!

If you loved S2, then I'm sure you'll love the novel even more (since the drama already fell short of the novel's quality). XY's love for XL is a lot more evident in the novel as well. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of reading the novel first so I couldn't enjoy it as much because a lot of my favorite details and scenes were omitted, but I'm glad you loved it!

XL's obsession with committing suicide with the army through ALL of the drama started to really get on my nerves…
I’d love to see that alternative ending. I wonder if he’ll be able to love someone more than he did to XY, but it would be great to find someone who would do so much for him as well.

Title Destined
Are there any misunderstandings? Annoying SFL/SML?
There is a SML but he is more of a villain than someone who competes with ML for FL’s love. Even though he does like the FL, it’s not really the point of his role and it barely affects the story.

No misunderstandings and love triangle. The main characters’ relationship is perfectly healthy.

All I can say is Zhang Wanyi is the mvp for this season (or the latter half). I watched season 1 primarily for…
XL's scenes did get cut off a lot in S2. A whole chapter of him and XY was completely omitted in the drama, which was a shame because many of my favorite moments were there.

XiaoYao has a big heart, she can love many people wholeheartedly, she even wept for FengLong.... whereas these…
What truly differentiated XY's love for XL and TSJ for me was the conditions in which that love occurred in.

TSJ was easy to love. He was kind, not an enemy, and did not have much to do other than follow XY. Hence, XY learned how to love him. He fit the exact criteria that XY set for one to be her companion for life— devotion and presence.

Meanwhile, XL was cruel, an enemy, has a huge responsibility of leading an army, and even made it seem to XY that she was only a pawn to him and that all they had were mere transactions. Yet this is exactly what sets XY's love for him apart— that despite all these circumstances, XY still loved him. XY still cared for him and did not want him to die (which the novel provided more evidence of than the drama did) regardless of how cold-hearted he was to her. Not even his attempted murder of CX stopped XY from begging CX to spare XL. It was love that was unwanted— something she feared, yet was still there 'til the very end.

She probably knew that one arrow was harmless to XL lol he wouldn't be alive for so long if one arrow could affect him, yet she could not shoot another arrow that would actually injure XL. She was also really furious in that moment, I mean, who wouldn't? XL almost killed one of her dearest people who had been with her since childhood. Here's the narration in the novel in case you did not understand the scene well.

---

Xiao Yao pulled back another arrow. But — blood was spreading like a plum blossom on his white robe and Xiao Yao's heart hurt so she closed her eyes and in that moment her arrow flew forward and missed, grazing his arm. Xiang Liu stopped in his tracks and he smiled at Xiao Yao, it appeared to be mocking but was in truth hiding his joy.

Xiao Yao wanted to pull another arrow but her heart was jumbled and she couldn't do it anymore. She finally put her bow down, all the energy from Feng Long's death dissipated and Xiao Yao turned to Left Ear "Let's go back!"

---

Despite XL being the main enemy and even set on killing XY's loved ones— she still could not harm him. Even after all this, XY still asked CX to spare XL who already severed all ties with her (which was unfortunately omitted in the drama). It was the first and last time that she begged CX for something— and it was for XL to stay alive. If this is mere attraction, then what exactly is love? Lmao.

Although some people like how CX's character was changed, I personally was so disappointed at how they made those scenes a "dream/illusion". CX being the one to kill TSJ was such an important part of the story and to his own character. It was also the only thing I've been looking forward to aside from XL's scenes. It's such a waste that YZ and ZWY gave their all for those scenes only for it to come out as irrelevant in the drama.

And yet they exaggerated XY's reaction to some other things. This feels so unfair. I think I'll have to reread…
I'm not asking for much, really. It's not like I need additional YaoLiu scenes, I just needed a proper adaptation and clear conveyance of the truths in the novel. Such a shame that the drama failed to show so much of the great things I loved in the novel.

And yet they exaggerated XY's reaction to some other things. This feels so unfair. I think I'll have to reread the novel after this as a coping mechanism because XY's feelings for XL has been downgraded a lot in the drama.

After XL's death, I unconciously just stared at nowhere while the episode is still playing. I couldn't even watch the next scenes because I feel like all the life out me have been sucked out.

It's disappointing though how XY's reaction to XL's death has been diminished compared to the novel.
