I couldn't find the translated novel as I've read it in Chinese.

In case you didn't know, his scenes in Royal Nirvana were deleted as well because of rebellious story plot. Up to 12 episodes were cut and condensed into a 60 episodes where Gu Feng En has a heavy role in the last few episodes according to the novel. The actress did mentioned she is unsure why the filming team cut most of her scenes along with Fu Jiu Yun which leads to many questions and doubts about their characters. she kinda shows her frustration in the interview. Main actor didn't say anything but he wrote a poem dedicated to Fu Jiu Yun character. the poem gives feelings of melancholy and speechless.

You are so right, the exact same comments stated by majority of the Chinese audience. 2nd leads can have good story plot without adding too much of unnecessary scenes while sacrificed/reduced the main Lead scenes. This makes the whole story inconsistent. Whoever that reads the novel can confirm most of the scenes given to both main Leads are not sufficient enough to build their characters and story plot compared to novel.

The female lead cast did shows her frustration when she was asked about her feelings on the drama. She realize majority of the scenes make it to air on TV is different from the scripts given to both ML and FL. (many scenes and story plots were deleted). Male lead only wrote a poem to describe the character of Fu Jiu Yun and didn't say much.

The author only praised Zheng Ye Cheng twice throughout the entire drama without mentioning other casts or the filming team. The author also praised the osts. Readers were disappointed with the filming team because from bts and teaser pictures, it is obvious that they have deleted tonnes of ML and FL scenes from the novel and add lots of unnecessary scenes for 2nd ML and 2nd FL along with their parents stories.
