A bit of both. The villain taught him two evil spells during the 100 year time jump, but he only uses them when he absolutely needs to because they are harmful to his health. He only gets the ultimate power of the dragon god towards the end because releasing the dragon is one of the main missions in the story.

At the very end, the shadowy figures admit that they used something called a Soul Absorption Pill to make him lose his mind, and they're surprised that he "woke up" from it (after getting stabbed in the forehead by the real Jian Buzhi's father during the big battle and losing his memory).

BTW, in the original script, the real Jian Buzhi comes back at the end, but in the drama, the directors changed it so that it remains possible that they are the same person. The real Jian Buzhi was supposed to be in Japan the whole time, and the shadowy figures at the end are carrying what seem to be Japanese swords, which could possibly imply that they kidnapped Jian Buzhi in Japan, fed him the pill, and brought him back to China as Wang Hua as part of some conspiracy.

No, her fake mother is not her real mother. Her teacher is her aunt (real mother's sister) though. The three of them (real mother, aunt, and fake mother) were best friends. Her real parents were killed because they were framed by the villain. The villain's daughter-in-law (aka fake mother) adopted her twin sister to replace her stillborn child.

Does anyone know why Liu Guang has her own unique name? Why doesn't her name start with Cha, like everyone else from her generation?

1. There are a few kisses between the couples, but not that many, and no bed scenes.
2. Mostly sad and confusing ending for the lead characters. The secondary couples (Na Sheng + Yan Xi and Hong Luan + Zhi Xiu) are together.

1. Yes, overall he is by far the most powerful character in the story (other than the villain). But there is a lot of back and forth as he repeatedly uses up all his power in order to save the FL (but she does the same for him too).
2. No, relationships (both his crush on the mermaid slave girl and his brotherhood with Fei Lian) are not a priority for him compared to power and survival. I expected him to defect to the good guys' side eventually, but nope, he remains evil to the end. In fact, he allows the villain's spirit to possess him after Lan Gan's body was destroyed.

Novoland is the name of the fictional continent where the stories take place, kind of like Middle Earth in Tolkien's novels. The connection is that they all take place in Novoland, but can be in different kingdoms and different dynasties over different time periods.

To be fair, he is only seven years older than her, and they only fall in love when they are both adults, so it's not that bad. It's very normal for couples in real life to have a bigger age gap than that. Kinda reminds me, though, that there was a real life emperor who fell in love with his mother figure, the woman who literally raised him and was around 15-17 years older than him. They are both portrayed in the drama The Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty (produced by Jackie Chan).

The emperor is crazy because the love of his life died (and it was the ML's fault) so basically he hates everything and everyone, including himself. He becomes a lot more likeable later in the drama.

Wuxia is about martial artists. Their martial arts skills might give them superhuman strength, speed, or other powers, but ultimately they are normal human beings. They fight over normal human issues like love, hate, revenge, honour, justice, power, fame, wealth, etc.

Xianxia is about gods, demons, and other immortal beings, or mortals cultivating to become immortal. They are more concerned with supernatural forces of good/evil and the survival or destruction of entire worlds/dimensions. When there is romance involved, it happens over centuries or millennia.

This drama is neither. Even though it has some aspects of wuxia (focus on martial arts) and xianxia (magical objects and time travel), it focuses more on things like war, politics, and romance.

There's the maid played by the incomparably beautiful Meng Zhiyi, although she's a very side character with very little screen time. She was described as the most calculating and mysterious of all his maids, but the drama never explored that. Kind of a dull character compared to in Ever Night and The Untamed.
Nangong Pushe is just so cool, sexy, charismatic, and badass with her detached, quiet confidence and lightning fast double blades.
Shu Xiu (FL from No Boundary) is just so charming and adorable, especially the way she's so frank about not being loyal and just in it for her own benefit.
And of course Jiang Ni and Qing Niao.

Have you watched Joy of Life? The main character in that drama (played by the same actor) is next level lucky. Whenever he's in trouble, a solution always magically falls from the sky, so to speak. Basically the male equivalent of a Mary Sue. But still a very interesting and fun drama.

Joy of Life meets Ever Night! But these types of dramas can never give us true satisfaction because the original novels are so crazy long, so it's impossible to turn the entire story into dramas. Even if they make season 2, and then season 3, the stories will never be complete and you're left hanging with no ending.

We never met her 3rd sister from Shuzhong. The one with the baby is Duan Qing Yi, the #1 heroine. She appeared in episode 10 to ask Zhan Zhao for help rescuing her husband, because he owed her a favor for saving his life.
