It really bothers me how FL’s costumes and wigs are really ugly throughout the drama. Like ik they’re not…
Her hairstyle looked a lot better during the scene where she tried to put on makeup (and failed miserably - he thought she was practicing drawing on corpses lol). But then they changed it back to the way it was before.
Is the main lead strong/the best and is there a love triangle?
He has very, very strong will/character, and he's amazingly charismatic with his words. But he can't fight, and even though he's always successful, he is basically the male equivalent of a Mary Sue, where random luck just rains on him (similar to Joy of Life and Royal Highness). In terms of love triangle, the SFL is in love with him but he only has eyes for FL.
I wanted to tell you guys a little something personal; why SML made my skin crawl more then most here. I had 2…
While I sympathize with your unfortunate experience, I completely disagree with your comment that stalking being portrayed in a drama "glorifies this kind of behavior." If it was a protagonist or heroic character acting this way, then absolutely. But he is a villain. Nothing that a villain does should ever be considered "glorifying." Quite the opposite. The fact that his character is written as a villain means that the drama is condemning his behavior.
The story is very interesting and unique compared to other Chinese dramas. It's set in a dystopian world overrun by war and tyranny, where the Assassin Academy is the only place of hope and refuge... or so we're told at the beginning. Of course, things are never as simple as they seem. The plot is similar to sci-fi dystopian film series such as Divergent and Maze Runner, but certain elements of the drama, like the animated progress bar of how close she is to discovering the truth, have a lighthearted and comedic feel to them, as if to say "we're not taking ourselves seriously, so please don't set your expectations too high when you're watching." In spite of this, it was an enjoyable watch. The plot is intriguing, the acting isn't that bad, and the cast is quite good looking. The lead actress, who I recognize from Love in Between, has this cute, goofy smile, but when she's being serious, she actually bears a striking resemblance to Zoey Meng from certain angles, which can only be a good thing. It's technically 18 episodes but each episode is only 10 minutes long, so it's really only a six-episode drama. Definitely worth the watch.
While it can't really be considered a great drama, it's funny and entertaining, so it serves its purpose as a comedy. If you're looking for excitement, a complex plot, or deep meaning, look elsewhere. If you want some mindless entertainment after a long day at work, this is a great drama for that. FL is cute and hilarious, particularly in the first few episodes. Her mannerisms remind me a lot of Eleanor Lee in Fake Princess. Everyone is super gorgeous, especially the two maids (Lian Pian and Wen Yuan). Zhao Lusi is pretty much the same as in her other dramas, and Xu Kaicheng here is similar to his role in Dance of the Phoenix too. An Yongchang's character here is dull as a block, as is typical for the "famous female intellectual" type of character in these historical dramas, which is disappointing considering how adorable she was in A Girl Like Me. All in all, no breakthrough in acting skills here, except maybe for Ren Hao, who does a pretty good job of portraying the creepy and psychopathic villain.
Why is no one shedding light on the romance portion? Can you please be kind and tell me 1.How is the romance between…
1. The most mature and healthy relationship I've ever seen in a drama. When there are problems they actually talk things through like mature, logical adults instead of letting misunderstandings happen. 2. No. 3. They officially get together in episode 25. 4. No. See #1.
So how are the main leads? Is one of them toxic, or annoyingly stupid, or a noble idiot??? Also maiden holmes,…
I really enjoyed both. Maiden Holmes has better romance, but Imperial Coroner has better plot and more realistic cases (Maiden Holmes had some super unrealistic stuff, like using an ice needle as a murder weapon). FL is a naive country bumpkin so she's pretty clueless about anything other than being a coroner, which she's amazing at. The romance between the ML & FL, while not particularly sweet or exciting, is the most healthy, mature, and non-toxic relationship I've ever seen in a drama. When there are problems they actually talk things through like mature, logical adults. None of that misunderstanding nonsense that's in pretty much every other drama.
If they ever make a reboot of Super Woman Caputor, she would so perfect as Tie Fei Hua's maid, Liu'er! (I'm 99% sure no one knows what the hell I'm talking about)
Does anyone know what is li zi long's real motif/ reason ?? I dont remember seeing him explain his motif in the…
Li Zi Long is a pretender to the Tang throne (i.e. he is a direct descendant of the Li clan that ruled the Tang dynasty), so he wants to overthrow the Ming dynasty and become emperor, which is absolutely crazy because Tang had fallen for more than 500 years (Tang dynasty ended in 907 and this drama is set in 1477). Consort Wan isn't a general, she is just used to being in charge of protecting the emperor. She was the maid who raised the emperor when he was a child, so she was a mother figure and bodyguard before they became lovers. BTW she is around 17 years older than him.
Are there any secondary couples? Who plays as the secondary couples?
Ban Heng (FL's baby brother) and Xie Wanyu are my favourite couple in the drama. They're both simple-minded, not very bright, but their love for food eventually brings them together and they become super adorable.
I love how smart and badass she is as the demon queen! I never get tired of her sneaky but brilliant methods of dealing with the bad guy. But it feels like half of the drama is wasted on unimportant side characters. Like why do those feuding movie actresses get so much screen time when they're only tangentially related to the main story? I still really enjoyed watching season 2, but maybe it's because I skipped over all the boring parts lol.
If he's not, how could he have survived a shot right into his skull?!
Ming Xia is a normal human and the doctors said that he would never wake up. He only recovered because Qing Cheng gave him a demon's core (but not her own... apparently the other demons would willingly give up their core because she's the queen).
Is this a weak to strong plot? Are there any secondary couples?
I shipped them at the beginning but they all started to turn bad for one reason or another. Xiao Tai is that one character that's in most cdramas that everyone hates; there's almost always a clingy and annoying brat who eventually turns evil due to her obsession with the male lead. At least Ming He is the villain so you're not supposed to like her. As I said before, this is one of the several cliched elements that I don't like about this drama.
Is this a weak to strong plot? Are there any secondary couples?
The main ones are: Qing Lan + Ming He (love-hate relationship between FL's eldest brother and the villain) Xiao Tai + Gao Meng Fei (he turned evil for her, but she didn't realize she loved him until it was too late) Huang Quan + Zi Mo (the most normal couple in the entire drama) Qing Ya + Bing Yu (almost got together but she gave up on love entirely) Bi Luo + Xiao Yin & Hong Chen (Xiao Yin dies but eventually Bi Luo and Hong Chen take a liking to each other)
Is this a weak to strong plot? Are there any secondary couples?
Yes, for the FL. She starts off weak and becomes very strong. The ML has the strongest martial arts skills right from the beginning, but is also sickly and weak at the same time, similar to the ML from The Love Lasts Two Minds. There are several secondary romantic pairings. Some end up as actual couples but some of them are tragic almost-couples.
Is there a weak to strong/strongest plot here? Something akin to douluo continent, Fights break sphere, Heavenly…
Yes, sort of. It's more complicated than that but I can't explain it without spoiling. He does get very strong, and his cultivation is much faster than everyone else, again for the same reason I won't spoil.
ML wasn't cast as the lead for the actual movie. He was only the lead in the pilot video (which for some reason…
Yeah it didn't make sense to me either. I would expect the pilot to be similar to the actual movie. But in the pilot he was wearing a modern suit and she was wearing a wedding dress type of gown. The movie was about a goddess who falls in love with a mortal in the ancient world.
The story is actually pretty good, but this drama is way longer than it needs to be. The female lead's character development is actually really dramatic, considering that the story takes place over a period of roughly only three months, but it certainly doesn't FEEL that way. It feels like she's barely changing at all, because the drama's slow pacing makes it seem like a long time has passed.
