Hey my friend. Glad you enjoyed the show. It’s my new favorite — even though I cried like an idiot. Why do…
I always find that the dramas with the best romantic scenes aren't in the romance genre. Tempest is a good example. It's got so much else going on that the leads have to make out nearly every time they're in the same shot together to keep the viewers who aren't into political dramas happy.

I think the younger k-drama actresses are told not to go at it too hard because of the "morality police" and because the young, k-drama audiences' idea of romantic kissing is slo-mo shot in three different angles with multiple dissolves.

Hi, Grace. If I'm not mistaken, he said at least twice something that my mind translated as he was willing to die for her. Although, yes, he also expressed in more ways than one that he wanted to (or would) always be there for her. Come to think of it, all of our head scratching over the ending was a typical ploy of a production company that, for various reasons, didn't know if there'd be a season 2 and wanted to leave the door open for the breathtaking reunion of the lovers, who kissed passionately even at the most inopportune moments. LOL.
Big budget production and the money was well spent. I gave it 9.5 even though I didn't understand why the ML had to remain on the ship. Just because he found someone he loved enough to die for doesn't mean he had to die at the end. Can someone tell me if I missed something here.
Too much dialogue unnecessarily explaining things that already happened. Too much dreary dialogue period. Some of the editing didn't make sense. Like the editor lost the thread. Some pretty bad acting. I even found the performances by the leads rather flat, and having previously watched Ryan Cheng in Shadow Love, I came to the conclusion that he didn't think his role in Female General was worth breaking a sweat over. The only thing I liked about the show was Zhou Ye's action scenes. Her martial arts stunts were stunning. Gave the show 7.5 that.
YES! His acting in this drama totally changed my opinion of his acting.
I'm so tired of the cold, aloof MLs in c-dramas that his role in this drama came as a welcome surprise. Same goes for Lee Chae Min's role (and performance) in Bon Appetit, Your Majesty. It made the cold, aloof ML lovable. LOL. I hope we get more of that.
Such a good comment, exactly what I thought. I skipped a lot after like 20 eps. Kissing scenes were also bad.
I only just started fast-forwarding because the pacing of an action-driven drama shouldn't be this slow. If they wanted to slow things down for some reason, then perhaps they should've made the characters more interesting.
This drama was SUCH a disappointment. I waited so long and this is what I got. I was addicted reading this novel…
I haven't finished watching it yet, but so far, I agree with everything you said. Perhaps I shouldn't have watched it after "Shadow Love," which is one of the best historical c-dramas I've seen this this year.
Reading some of the comments here, what's boring and what isn't is certainly subjective. I wasn't bored by this drama at all. I found it delightful. Yet the drama that is currently boring me to the point where I've begun to fast-forward is one that I'm sure most c-drama fans loved, "Legend of the Female General." Loved Ryan Cheng in "Shadlow Love." He was so cute and charming and had such incredible chemistry with Song Yi. Not so in "Female General," in which he played the seemingly cold, blank-faced or scowling hero that MLs are obliged to play in most historical c-dramas, and I guess his chemistry with the FL won't kick in until the kissing scenes, because there's no sign of it so far.
