This is my most favourite XL performance, which is saying something since I loved her in CQL!! Her micro expressions and nuanced performance is such a treat to watch, especially since I'm struggling to get with the FL's acting.
The ratings are low because of the controversies surrounding this drama regarding the original FL. It's natural that the fans of the original actress would rate this low even if they don't watch it. Plus, the plot drags in the middle a little bit so it has the usual flaws of Chinese xianxia dramas, that could be another reason. The actors are not traffic actors but LXY has a considerable fandom which is why it at least got a little bit of traction. I loved this drama because it hooked me with its cute beginning. The leads have amazing chemistry, sweet interactions and great intimacy. I applaud the cast and crew because even if it is a reshoot, they've done such an amazing job that it looks almost completely seamless. Even though HYX was acting out some scenes alone in the reshoot, they still manage to convey chemistry which is an amazing feat of the director and editor. Overall, this drama will have a special spot in Chinese dramaland for its resilience and professionalism. And yes both LXY and HYX deliver solid performances, I really want to see them together again.

I was surprised when people around her thought it to be true and natural, I mean she was even famous for her mark and her empress fate ....to the point where I thought that it might even be true, like a flower shaped birthmark. But she didn't try to discuss or even reason with him. She explained the truth to him , then said she can't fully trust him, then gave him two options, one which includes kowtowing to her and thanking her (basically saying goodbye for the last time) . That's an ultimatum, choose our side and I will continue to adore you but keep you away from power or choose power and say thank you and go. The scene after that is touching though, I am glad WY made this choice (or at least appears to for now)

It's more than okay in the beginning, lots of fun and cute interactions. Maybe it will benefit from a binge rather than chasing. Those of us of who were chasing had to exercise a lot of patience during the draggy parts lol. But it's worth checking out at least once.

True and it didn't help when WS went ahead with the investigation, giving the impression that he is choosing his wife over his cousin. I don't know man, the entire handling of this situation in the drama, plot, script, acting and directing wise, is so ham handed. Both WS and the grandmother take questionable decisions, almost like they want to drive him away even though that's clearly not supposed to be their intentions. The conversation in the beginning of ep 16 just about made me pull my hair out. And then she is surprised when he calls her bluff lol.

Yes I want a a fun and intelligent drama, POB is not scratching that itch for me so JOL it is. I was waiting for season 2 to finish before picking it up because I despise cliffhangers hehe
What?!?! I thought the grandmother was a smart lady. She handled that conversation with WY with about as much grace as a freight train. She gave him an ultimatum and reaped her reward, why would she do something like that when she knows things are still sensitive with WY? Did she want to lose him? Frustration inducing lol
To think that these are just the kiss scenes from ep 21 to 40, double that for the rest of the drama.
