Heyyyy, lovelies! π Weβre deep into the last third of the show, and I gotta ask β what are YOU watching…
I am watching Joy of Life. I need to cleanse my mind after seeing the faulty logic and storyline of this drama. π I will check out Zhang Hai after it finishes airing.
True there were child marriages then. It's shown in kdramas too, but in that child actors play the role of young children getting married. Since this drama is showing adult actors, I'm hoping she'll be at least 17-18. Anyway, even if she is an adult, drunk acting can be done so so much better. Hers felt like she 'acting acting', looked very obvious that she's acting, not being the character. This could also have something to do with direction.
Right???How could the second heir of the Wei Clan get killed and no one wants to find who is behind it.And how…
If he had mounted an attack against WS or Rongjun and then was killed in action, that wouldn't have needed any explanation. But if WS is arbitrarily killing his family members, without any explanation, then how can his family even trust him or follow him anymore. And in the beginning, they even mentioned that WD has considerable influence within the family, we even see it in the scenes when the whole family is gathered, WD is able to rally support for his arguments in the family, even more so than WS. None of his supporters questioned his suspicious demise? Ugh so many questions and plotholes
Eww that's giving me the creeps π the ML is not only physically bigger but then older too by far right? If she is 14 in the novel, they must have changed that in the drama, right? Right? Riiiight? π°
I don't know if you read the novel. But on reading your comment, I started to think back to how the villains were…
No I haven't read the novel. Quick death is fine as long as there is some buildup or logical reason followed by consequences or explanation or even triumph. What these deaths remind me of are actually how deaths are used as sudden twists and turns in Game of Thrones as well. But over there, there is logic or at least buildup to it, aftermath is shown, everything flows smoothly and that's what makes it believable. Although I'm not a fan of the plot device of kill-someone-to-show-a-thrilling-twist, but at least there are way to do this much much better. Here, the impact was very jarring and foolish in logic....like no one even came to stop him? How is that possible? And he didn't even stab him for a quick death, he took his sweet time strangulating him which takes some time at least, it's not a quick death like the consorts bludgeoning. So what was the consort or other attendants doing that time that their emperor was getting choked? It's so poorly executed that it's laughable. Quick deaths can be done impactful and thrilling, here it was just funny ππ
Okay I'm clearly in the minority here but this drama is taking me to my wit's end. In the beginning, the storyline and clever aspects were solid, not the best but at least acceptable, with a good foundation of the conflict between them. In the 10s episodes, the logic started becoming even more questionable. And now, they've clearly thrown all logical and reason out of the window. The deaths in this drama are shot and placed within the story in such a way that it's bordering on funny instead of thrilling twists. I already had this problem with Wei Duan or Dian's death (can't remember his name, his death was that forgettable). He was literally killed out of nowhere, no buildup and then no explanation later. He was supposed to be one of the more important members of the Wei family right? No one questioned his death and never explained again, it was literally brushed under the carpet. And now, the end of ep 23 ...π€£π€£π€£. Liang is supposed to be the imperial power. Is it literally so easy to kill this emperor and his consort? Not even one guard there or outside? Most importantly, this was so out of nowhere. No buildup, again no explanation. If it were so easy to kill him, then why didn't he do it earlier?
Clearly solid logic is too much to expect so regarding the romance, now it's her turn to turn clueless. They spent so much time on that gift of mirror. Earlier I was able to suspend disbelief and at least enjoy their romance. But it's getting repetitive. At least some conflict came because of her dumb uncle and they resolved it well. But the scenes in the story that are obviously meant to have high impact romantically and emotionally fell completely flat for me. The drunk scene of the FL was so poorly acted, she literally turned into a kid running around with a toy, she already looks so young and petite. And then her childish scene was followed by a kiss, it felt so awkward imo. I am glad to see an FL who accepts her mistake and works to improve, so that was good to see. But the romantic scenes are also not up to the par anymore for me. Even their hug felt lackluster.
I've seen none of her past works before this one. But i like what im seeing so far. She's done amazing work with…
For me, Romance of Tiger and Rose was a stronger adaptation of hers compared to POB. The narrative is tighter and more exciting, with new developments almost every episode and no repetitive plots. Also, from the get go ,it is focused on romance. So there's never this whiplash effect of being promised something dark, exciting, intense and clever but being given sweet fluffy romance instead. Highly recommend TROTAR
20 and 21 also feel the same though there is little improvement over 18 and 19
Hope so too π€π½. It's a pity, the trailer was giving such a dark and ominous vibe, I thought we're getting something complex and interesting with the enemies to lovers vibes. Now it's just a fluffy romance of sweet kids which are a dime a dozen.

I agree with the comment above, they spent such a long time establishing his character as a smart and ruthless general who can read the FL like a book and know all her intentions which even we as viewers don't know. And then reduce him to an oblivious and clueless sweet character who is oh so innocent and naive. It's so unconvincing and going against your own story lol. Same with the FL , such a clever and refined lady who has all the answers and her cleverness can save not only herself but other people too, but suddenly starts acting like a cute kid with a teenage crush. I had made my peace with faulty logic and laughable politics of the drama, determined to at least brainlessly enjoy the sweet romance. But even that is going out the window for me π
No bother at all, happy to help. It's a special episode released by mangotv after the end of the drama so although it is a part of it, it comes after the main series has ended. I think you can find it on mgtv but you have to pay for it . I saw it in clips on bilibili and weibo. But after some time, it definitely will be available for free as well.
Everyone has different tastes. For example, I don't like "Prisoner of Beauty" or "The Double". And I wouldn't…
Hehe I thought I was the only one struggling with POB. I liked it initially but now it's gotten so boring. Completely meandering in its repetitive romantic plot. I was watching it for LYN but I don't that'll be enough for me to continue now. I find the direction, logic, storytelling and FL's acting to be mediocre. I am going to find another drama that doesn't devolve so completely from its initial premise. Like JOL or Rise of Phoenixes
I couldn't finish In Blossom either. so sad. I had great hope for this and In Blossom. but this is the biggest…
Yes LNF is not an absolute disaster. It's just okay, so so. The beginning is fun and the chemistry and leads' acting is great so at least that's something.
I was thinking about the endingβ¦ it could have been executed to something positive and sweet yet, it feels melancholy…
Agreed. The only positive and cute aspect to the end comes in the special epilogue episode. I saw some clips of it and it's actually cuter and sweeter than the majority of the drama. So light and sweet .
At last the good translations manifested and I completed the series. Still waiting for the extra episode. I think…
Many people have rated this low without even watching the drama, for reasons that are known or unknown. Also, some viewers lost their patience with the slow pacing in between so that could be another reason. I think this drama benefits from bingeing rather than chasing. So let's see if it improves now that it has finished airing
