And before picking up the second season, give a gap of several weeks or a month or two, because the second season features a different cast and you might get frustrated if you watch it immediately, as the writer had damaged one of the characters in the second season (I don't want to spoil it). I watched the second season recently and the effects were minimal as I had forgotten about the first series, and was less frustrated. The second season also provides splendid humour and a bit more romance than the first and would give it a 9/10, and one point is reduced for damaging the character.

If you have my point of view, you would have never felt the triangle in place. I never realised that the SML was in love with FL very much until the attempt at confession. Still I am not sure whether the SML loved the female lead or was it just casual attraction, as he encourages the female lead to accept the Male Lead's at the middle of the drama and asked to think again about male Lead's confession. Whatever it was, I never felt the Second Lead Syndrome, because the female lead never deceived both the leads, unlike other decisive FL, she was strong in her point. So I recommend watching this drama

After a number of boring kdramas, this was the final drama I decided to watch before I drop kdrama totally. But thankfully this drama, rather than repelling me like others, attracted me into the kdrama world. The first two episodes were duds and never did justice to the later episodes of the show. But if you remain patient, you would be rewarded greatly. This drama incorporates slow romance into it, in a way that you never get bored of it. The only downside of this splendid drama is the dragging of love triangle in the middle, but that too was not that much annoying as I misunderstood the love triangle episodes 😂😂😂. Third couple could have been given more screen time, but still within their screen time they were so cute. All characters except in certain situations were to a certain extent mature enough and the drama didn't have over the top scenes as all the leads in this drama are poor. And the ending song by Ulala session is addictive that I listen to it everyday. Though I have watched several dramas now this drama is still my most favourite drama, and I rewatch it's comedy scenes to laugh out loud. A perfect 10/10 or more could be given to this drama. The thing in triangle which I misunderstood, I mentioned below

The first two episodes had bad writing but the writing became extraordinary towards the end. I still miss this drama and so badly wanted a season 2 of the original cast.

Have you seen the Netflix top list. This touched the list when squid game came out. One of the reasons might be because of the drama, but the other reason could be that viewers if squid game could have watched it, since this is another kdrama which aired alongside on Netflix.
And have you seen the movie?? And I mentioned to readers of my comments that the movie is better than the drama, and recommended the movie. And a person has a mind to think whether they should watch or skip the drama for movie. It's not like I'm putting them under my spell. There is a clear difference between recommendation and forcing. And yes this is a drama where Korean Masala, aka, tropes have been added to the movie story to extend it to 16 episodes. That is just my opinion. Did I mention everybody said it, or everybody are wrong. According to your view, should I need to add IN MY OPINION to every sentence of my comments so that it would look look like my opinion?? Majority may have the opposite point, but that doesn't make my point invalid and some in comments have agreed with me. Actor Vijay movies are popular in tamilnadu and majority would say they like it, but when they re-watch the movie, many would be snoozing or snoring. So majority doesn't come to my comments because this is all my opinion.
Yes this drama would have been great, if they followed the original story closely, but they didn't, and added whole lot of Korean tropes to extend the plotline. I may have dropped the drama, but I still watched a few episodes of it, and love triangle is a trope hated not only by me, but many users across MDL. Reply 1997 is one perfect example where the drama was hated for its love triangle. So according to my opinion, I dropped it because of the love triangle, and it is not bad but not the best at 8.9. And MDL users are not brainless to drop a drama in one bad comment.

Reply 1997 series started out good, and I was really hoping for their romance to blossom. But then came the love triangle which placed a huge ton of iron on my hope. The Series fell flat as the love triangle started and only picked itself up after 13 or 14 episodes, but by the time I couldn't recover from the love triangle and the series was coming to an end. The triangle could have been resolved, if the Male Lead had reprimanded his older brother who is the creepiest person in kdrama world, for his actions and confessed his love. But he is a good Samaritan, so he will keep quiet for his brother. And the brother, I don't know what grudge the writer had against the brother, I could never like the brother in a single minute throughout the show. He was the reason for the triangle and his reason for loving the female lead infuriated me to the extent that I wanted to enter the drama and burn him to ashes for doing such a thing. In the final episodes they tried changing him for the better, but his first impression was too bad that remembering him still now makes me swear. The female lead is another dumb lead, who never thinks twice before accepting 2nd male lead and under what intentions did he go behind her. In the final 3-4 episodes, she was the lead who literally turned the bad drama to good, but you have to wait for all 12 episodes to see that. And that occurs only in adult life, so the entire school life romance was pretty bad. The second couple was cute, but they had very little screen time in the drama. In the middle, they tried creating a suspense on who gets the girl, but that kind of emotions should never be mixed with suspense. All in all, I would skip it if I were you, and would never re-watch even if someone gives me a hundred dollars to. Because the drama is that creepy that will leave you delusional for hours.

Yeah the drama is okay, not the best, and not the worst. Many others along the lines of 8-9 are splendid in their genre. so I thought this should be in the 7-8 rating range.

How could the male lead dump his girlfriend and go behind his friend. If he's interested in his friend, he should have told her openly about it. If he's not he should have drawn boundaries between them and be dedicated to his girlfriend. What he did is nothing different from Second Male Lead. The Second Male Lead cheated on FL and the Male Lead lied to his girlfriend and indirectly two timed on her. If the Male Lead is going to half ass everything, why should he get into a relationship. Even though you have feelings for your friend, if she doesn't feel back, it is better to seek new love. First love isn't everything and honestly I felt that the Male Lead's girlfriend is too good for Male Lead. The Female Lead is another ididot, who goes behind Male Lead while suspecting the Second Male Lead. Worst movie ever.

You're right. And if you don't like love triangles, my opinion would be to skip reply 1997. I watched the series and was screaming at the screen for several hours. The love triangle would be too bad with the Leads having prehistoric communication disorder. They would think something in their minds, but do something else. May be it could be the norm in South Korea, but I as an Indian find it bad. Why should they keep their feelings to themselves?? They only have one life to live and should live the life to their own good. Anyways, there are rare dramas where love triangle is avoided. Dramas like YOU RAISE ME UP, WAIKIKI have love triangle but it is less annoying, and HO GOO'S LOVE is the only drama I have watched that has a strong story with no love triangle. THUMPING SPIKE is also a good romance drama where love triangle is shown at the beginning and annoying in the middle, but it is rather resolved in a way pleasing to the audience.

I never told the drama is bad or worst. And that is my opinion. Did I review it??? I just commented it. There's a difference between review and comment. You can comment on a drama at whatever place you stop, and reviewing is done at the end of the drama. What is the distinguishable difference between a fact and opinion, I don't know, maybe you can explain it to me. I don't think you read comments of other dramas before. In bad dramas, several people had commented on its ratings before. If you are new here, you should know before what you comment here. And I only told about my complains in the comments. Keep your opinions to yourself but don't expect others to follow your track. And why does it matter to you, when i talk about the drama. I already mentioned that I dropped the drama, and just wrote in the comments why I dropped it. If you don't like it don't read it. Don't expect the everyone to always complete the drama and comment it.

Does a native English speaker make such mistakes? Hmmm. And compare your first comment with comments told by others here. You started out impolite, and then you ask me to mind my sarcasm!! And I too had a doubt on why you commented impolitely on my comment, when many others have also bad commented it. Healing drama if gone on the track of healing drama, would have been best out there. But why add prehistoric kdrama tropes and slow down the narrative. A drama when turned into a makjang would be good but not the best. Waikiki started out in comedy, had slow romantic development, but the romance didn't turn the direction of comedy, and ended with comedy. And sometimes MDL rating are pretty much bad in dramas. When did dramas like Hwarang and True beauty became a better drama than Lucky Romance and wok of love etc.. Many might have rated true beauty highly, but Google worst kdramas ever and you will find True beauty in the list of many users in Quora. MDL is surely misleading sometimes, but not all times. MDL is for everyone but it does not give the right for a person to restrict another person's freedom of speech. People of free countries have the right to freedom of speech.

Where did I generalize other's choices. There could be supporters for this drama, they should just mind their own business. I just told my point of view. How could that be considered generalizing others choices. Did I mention nobody would like it, or any other things of that sort. Can't you understand what I wrote in my comments. Just because a person writes bad reviews, that doesn't mean he generalizes others views. I just told it is overrated. Take a break, learn some good English, understand what others mean and then comment. Don't go on trashing others who writes bad comments, just because you like it. If you like it, then just mention whatever you like about this drama. And in the meanwhile watch some good rom-coms in the 7-8 rating range and then find fault in my comments. Series like Waikiki, which doesn't drag anywhere and is the finest rom-com ever, is rated lower than this.
