Bro that ending where the emperor is mad he's not gonna be at the wedding. I've been replaying it and laughing nonstop. I can't with him. Also, the way 3rd prince stepped up for HBY and how much he clearly loves him was so touching. On Twitter, someone called 3rd prince HBY's girlfriend. Lmao.
I know that a lot of people are saying that the ending was rushed but personally speaking I don't think it was that rushed. They were following the novel. Plus we might be getting a director's cut. I think it ended perfectly. The only thing I wish we got to see more of was HBY's relationship with 3rd prince and well CSS's and YS engagement. Their engagement was extremely short.
Thoughts so far based on recent episodes and trailers....
1. I understand why LBY proposed to CSS so soon instead of waiting to achieve revenge. CSS has a very interesting personality and is very pretty and YS is obviously interested in her. So if he waited too long YS might have "snatched her away" or some other suitor. This is the first and only person he's ever been interested in and it would probably be painful to see her with someone else. Plus what 5th prince said about her being his concubine probably also triggered him to propose earlier than he was originally planning to. That being said honestly he probably should have waited until he was not only sure he wanted to marry her but also sure that he would be able to open up to her and tell her somewhat of the truth which up till this recent episode he has shown he is incapable of.
2. I am sooo excited for the 5yr arc to start. Since we only have a couple of episodes left I really hope they spend time showing us him trying to win her back. Also, I was hoping for a wedding but I don't think we will be seeing/getting a wedding between them since there aren't that many episodes left.
3. YS is so quick. In the previous trailers, we already see him "making moves" even though she hasn't broken the engagement yet. Then in the fast forward we see him proposing for her to marry him to fulfill the empress's wishes before she dies. Although this is 5 years later I will see one thing he and LBY have in common is persistence and determination.
4. Lastly...Will we be seeing more of 3rd prince? Lmao. I am honestly unsure. He was listed as a supporting character for part 2 and the crown prince was listed as a guest but so far we have seen more of crown prince than 3rd prince. Also, I wonder how Consort Yue will react to the Empress asking the Emperor to depose her.
I wish we got more than 56 episodes. I wish we got 60 episodes because I feel like then we would have gotten to see more things. For example, seeing how CSS's dad was saved, etc. But at least we got more than the 40-episode cap.
After seeing the new trailers I am so excited for next week to get here. I'm also happy that CSS's father is okay. I can't wait to see CSS defend LBY. Also, lmao YS is already trying to replace him I can't.
