Title My Beautiful Man Spoiler
y'all are tired of seeing my comments aren't u..... oopsanyway! um just saw the wildest comment on dr4macool that…
Haven't read the novels but I've been spoiled a little

If you really want to know , Hira actually doesn't stop at his toes. He immediately goes up to suck his d*ck and like a good boy that he is , he asks Kiyoi's permission ! Also the entire scene was different apparently and Kiyoi and Hira were spending time at Hira's house which was supposed to happen before Koyama ruined the moment by hugging Hira in the show instead, and Kiyoi was naked because he came out of showers or something.

No but saying “kimoi”really does mean he is calling Hira gross though, or creepy. But he means it in a joking/tsundere…
I just copy pasted my answer below lol

I am not an expert but I did talk to an online Japanese friend about this actually.

Kimoi doesn't just have one meaning. It can have different meanings and is hard to translate in to English. Both "disgusting and weird" are correct . The funny part is that when I asked my friend about the word, she suggested "creepy" as a translation. lol

The point is, Kiyoi's tone is not supposed to be harsh and he doesn't just call Hira disgusting for the sake of being an asshole. He calls him "Kimoi" because Hira is "Kimoi" and Hira knows it. That's why in this situation, "weird" is a lot more mellow and accurate in comparison to disgusting. Kiyoi even uses that word affectionately.

Just what I asked my friend, I don't know much about Japanese myself.

the writer forgot you're supposed to make the main chracter likable
That , I believe, entirely depends on the audience. A lot of us found these two characters very likable.

Omg yeah, I saw Koyama and eye rolled
I don't know the source material but they added the first Koyama and Kiyoi scene didn't they? Like I'm actually confused, what's the point of adding more Koyama? lol

Man , I'm sad. When will I ever be able to have another bl like this one with characters that are actually entertaining with their perspectives and story and not just a buch of good guys being lovey dovey or the opposite, a bunch of guys with problems that is never meant to be solved . Utsukushii kare is in between . It's not about nice guys. It's not about"toxic" guys. Just two guys having deep insecurities because of how they grew up. I want more of this please

Sorry but I disagree with you. If showing character flaws and anything that is slightly off to the norms of society…
You know , I wasn't sure about answering you at first . I am not looking for a deep argument and I don't want to upset anyone(If I did upset you I am sorry) but I feel like I need to explain a few things here 'cause I think you got it wrong.

1- Never said Hira didn't have a character flaw. But that's exactly the point. It's a character flaw which is supposed to get a "character growth". That's why I don't find it toxic. Because Hira isn't supposed to just idolize someone forever when they aren't even in a relationship. Also this behavior on itself isn't toxic. As much as Hira worshipped Kiyoi , he was also willing to let go the moment he thought Kiyoi said goodbye to him. There is a certain amount of respect and consent added to the equation which you are not considering at all.

2- Fiction is a "Huge" part of this. I know it's fiction and I know how these are two fictional characters who are meant to change . Do you consider character development of a "fictional character" toxic? Or even more , do you consider an entire show toxic because they dare to show a character with flaws who ends up changing?

>"For example, you've seen those characters in dramas who are overly possessive of their partners to the point where they treat to dictate what they can and can't wear in public, right? "

Context matters a lot. I consider this relationship toxic the way you described it. But there are 2 things that can make it non toxic to me

a) Consent : If the partner "likes and enjoys" it when his/her partner does this behavior and fully consents then I don't see why I would consider it toxic

b)Character growth. Since we are talking about fictional characters it's very important for me to know if this behavior is something that's going to stick with the character or is it a character flaw that needs fixing? If it's the second one then it's non toxic to me since we are talking about "fictional" characters having growth.

Also this isn't towards you specifically , but I actually don't see many people going around and calling a show toxic even if there is a toxic behavior like you mentioned (a possessive guy telling his girl what to wear for example) . There is a certain amount of hypocrisy when it comes to Utsukushii kare .

>"but "That hurt my feelings" isn't one of them"

I only called your comment toxic based on how you call Utsukushii kare toxic not because of my feelings lol.

>"I'm spoiler-marking this for episode 5 if you haven't seen it yet "

I have seen ep 5 and I'm actually shocked how you saw Kiyoi much differently than I did. Since it was clear as day to me that Kiyoi hates worship. He doesn't like people fawning upon him for no reason. He wants "love and attention" because he has huge abandonment issues. He doesn't want Hira to worship him , he wants a lover. I thought that much was obvious but apparently not. This should further get explained in ep 6 .

OK someone in the comments said that people are downplaying the "toxicity " in the show and I will say to anyone who bothers reading this they are wrong and I never felt the need to downplay anything. If I see toxicity I'll say it loud 'cause some shows are toxic on purpose .

This show is one of the least toxic shows I've seen. The non existent "toxicity " comes from character flaws that needs character growth. A person who doesn't have self confidence because of constant bullying who ends up loving someone IS NOT TOXIC. A person who has abandonment issues and can't express his feelings IS NOT TOXIC. Also unlike so many different shows , the character flaws in this show are not pushed under the rug and characters are actually aware of themselves and try to be better unlike so many romance shows out there when a character is just an asshole for the sake of it. If you think character flaws and character growth is toxic then we have an entirely different opinion on what toxic actually means and telling me that I am downplaying the "toxicity that I fail to see" doesn't make you right .

The relationship between Hira and Kiyoi is unhealthy. Hira's obsession with Kiyoi is unhealthy. The way Kiyoi…
Sorry but I disagree with you. If showing character flaws and anything that is slightly off to the norms of society is "toxic" then everyone and their grandmother can be called toxic. Tom and Jerry is toxic. Rick and Morty is toxic. I am toxic 'cause I jokingly name call my friends all the time and they do the same with me.

I don't consider the relationship toxic or unhealthy or hurtful to either of the mains. They liked to spend time with each other . Why wouldn't I want to be with someone who makes me happy? F*ck the norms.

Your idea that people downplay "the toxicity " in order to enjoy it is just wrong. I don't see the toxicity whether your sensitive souls want to believe me or not. I have seen many many TV shows like everyone else . I know what toxic looks like when I see it. Utsukushii kare isn't that. Throwing out words like "dark tsundere " or " obsessed " isn't going to make you right. Hira does love Kiyoi but he still went to have his own life when he could . Does that look like an" obsessed person who brings toxicity" to you? You can call Kiyoi a tsundere but why is he "dark"? What did he do other than being a flawed insecure and sensitive teenager?

The way you described it , a lot of people who haven't watched the show may come in and read your comment and think , "Hira is obsessed, he steals Kiyoi's panties or something "lol. Kiyoi is a "dark little tsundere, he beats the shit out of Hira everyday to show his love"

While in reality, Hira and Kiyoi are just flawed characters and what I enjoy and think makes this show a lot "healthy " in comparison to most other shows out there is that this show is not trying to push any of these character flaws under a rug. Hira and Kiyoi are flawed and they need to better themselves. Romanticising character flaws is something that this show isn't doing. Kiyoi doesn't like Hira's "obsession" . He wants a boyfriends. Hira knows well that Kiyoi is a little rude(with reasons)

I am sorry . Not trying to be rude and I hope I didn't come off as aggressive or defending the show or whatever but if this is the representation of an unhealthy relationship only because one person is rude and another one lacks self confidence because of bullying, then everything and everyone I've met in my entire life is toxic. Even your comment is toxic because I feel like rather than explaining about Hora and Kiyoi you simply just used false words (unhealthy, toxic , dark tsundere ) without any further explanation to try to contextualise the situation. So by your definition alone, your comment is giving out false information and blaming people who like it for not considering the show toxic , therefore your comment is simply toxic . lol

Again I apologise if I come off as aggressive but Istg people just throw the word toxic at everyone and everything without even considering the situation and now you start telling me that I have to just accept whatever false information they give me and if I don't I am downplaying toxicity. What the heck?

Befor I get into this I want to say I respect your opinion . You are allowed to feel however you want. I find…
Kimoi means many things in Japanese. I am not an expert but I saw people who know Japanese talk about it. Kimoi means a general negative feeling . You can translate it in to : scary, creepy, weird , awkward, annoying, bad omen, gross , bad feeling , negative vibe , etc

I think Kiyoi calls Hira "weird " for the most part. He even smiles at him while saying it. Or you can say that he is calling him "creepy or scary" maybe because he is scared of his feelings for Hira or scared of Hira's adoration. Or he is calling Hira a "bad omen/gives him bad feelings" because of how Hira acts.

It's really not as bad as people make it to be.

And, yeah, "a warm blanket to comfort them" is exactly what the community needs.
I like talking about the shows I like . What's the deal? I didn't tell you to stfu. I pointed out that your takes are just wrong and watching the 1st episode doesn't help make it better.

And, yeah, "a warm blanket to comfort them" is exactly what the community needs.
Well it's obvious that you didn't bother watch the show

The "gay guy" (who didn't even know about his sexuality at first) doesn't accept anything because he loves the other guy and because he is gay.

He was bullied his entire life and has a very low self esteem which makes him unable to respond well in social situations and whether you like to accept it or not, having such low self esteem as a result of constant bullying is very realistic. I know you want to connect whatever Hira(ML) does to Kiyoi(SML) and blame him but anyone who was paying attention to their relationship knows that Kiyoi helps Hira with his confidence(accidentally at first and purposefully latet) and Hira slowly becomes better and better with his confidence.

>I didn't watch this one, as I said, but nothing new if that's that

I mean it's pretty clear that you didn't watch it but arguing about it when you haven't watched it makes me question you. You don't see me talk about BB do you? Because I haven't watched it.
I don't know what you mean or want by saying "new" either. What exactly is the definition of new and how is it even relevant? I personally found this story refreshing because there aren't too many stories that focuses on growth out there. Most others that I've seen are either completely flawless or extremely fucked up without development.

Are you even watching BB? Lol I mean, if you need all them toxicity to feel interested that's on you, and thats…
What confuses me is the fact that even after dropping the series this person is still in this comment section using the exact same words every single hater uses :"toxicity "

I share your frustration. As long-time fujoshi, I saw the recent new generations of BL fans who can't stand less…
I've said it once before and I'll say it again. I feel like some of the viewers are too young to even be watching this show.
