This is an improved version of Something In The Rain by the same director. Don't think the chemistry is as good but the story is dealt with much more maturity here. They made Something in the Rain too annoying in the 2nd half.
This show was going very well until the 8th episode. I think the last two episodes were too slow. Pacing remains one of the biggest challenges for Korean directors. Their premise and main plot is great. All they need is better editing. A lot of shows could turn from average to great with a few tweaks in editing and pacing.
I can't believe people are calling SML a stalker. If my old colleague suddenly turns into a young man in front of my eyes, it would make more sense for me to suspect him and confirm my suspicions by following him instead of ignoring it.
I am excited to find out who the mystery killer turns out to be.
I think the female intern might be the killer. My theory is that as a woman, she was able to befriend other women and kill them in secluded places. That old intern who died wanted to meet with that female intern in the first place -- he probably caught her in her killer getup while chasing her.
I feel like the drama showed those scenes in the first episode about that veteran liking the old woman intern for a reason. One of them is a killer. Either the old man was trying to make her a victim or the old woman was stalking her and got killed/captured after realizing she's a killer. It would also make sense that the killer is a woman because she can befriend other women and kill them.
I liked the series. But, after finishing it, I went through the ages of male lead and female lead and was disgusted. Why did they let a 25-year old guy play as a romantic lead to a 15-year old child? It even has kissing scenes. Pathetic. Should have just casted 18-year old FL and ML.
I watched the first two episodes and thought "wow, how does this drama has only 7.9 rating?" I understood it after finishing. It's a good series but it has a few problems.
The basic story of this drama is great. I can see why so many seasoned actors signed it. But, the execution of that story into 16 episodes is done badly. Usually, k-dramas have bad stories but quality character development elevates that story into a good drama. In this instance, the story was great but they failed to develop good characters.
For example, the ML and FL's love story was done poorly. They had the best actors for both young and old roles but they failed to include enough scenes to show their love or chemistry. They needed to take some inspiration from Flower of Evil. Both characters were also too boring. Also, this drama has one of the worst families of main character I have seen.
Other k-dramas write autistic or specially-abled children as loveable characters. This drama was trying to make you hate with the autistic son by making him as annoying as possible. I know it's more realistic but you need to take some liberties for a TV show. Similarly, the daughter's character had no substance. Similarly, they failed to develop good friendship between ML or FL's friends. A little bit of work on the character development and this drama might have been 8.5+ on MDL.
Also, the written started to falter in the 2nd half. They could have wrapped it under 12 episodes. Actually a lot of k-dramas can become so much better if they edit their 16 episodes into 12 episodes.
Lastly, if you go through the cast, you feel sad because such a stellar cast deserved better treatreatment.
