In the flashback montage, we hear LBY voiceover with the line that was also heard in the series trailer something like "The emperor says I'm like a ghost, but when I'm with you, I'm alive." When did he actually say that to CSS?

What reason have we been given for why YS likes CSS besides the first encounter? He hasn't seen her soft and heroic sides like LBY and LY have. He's only seen her "scheming" side and how she gives as good as she gets. Otherwise, he's seen that she's poorly educated and has zero romantic interest in him. Is it just that he can't handle rejection?

I really hope at some point we could see LBY punch YS. Probably won't happen as they're both officials, but that would be very enjoyable.

In the last couple years, I can tell Cdramas are trying to copy HBO shows like Game of Thrones and Westworld in the opening credits, music, and costumes. For this drama, I have to give it to them on the music. The score is on point.

But it's painful to know that LBY and CSS will be separated for 5 years so she'll have to continue living with her mother...

This is very hard to watch without skipping episodes and fast forwarding. There are too many villains.

It's not just that his father married another wife, it's also who he married. He slept with his cousin, whom LBY considered an aunt, and then married her.

I also love Story of Minglan, but I love that this drama has so much more humor and comic relief.

Does anyone know why CSS and her dad go to visit LBY at his house in ep 23 preview? Is that in the novel?

LBY's love for CSS is very selfless. He helps her without being asked or expecting anything in return or even needing her to know it was him. Even after she is already betrothed to another, he wants to help her gain status with her future in-laws. That is some serious devotion.

I asked this a few days ago, but are we sure the series trailers cover only Part 1? We have previews up to ep 20 where it looks like ML is going off to war. How will they will fit all those intimate scenes from the trailers in the last 7 episodes?

Isn't he the same emperor from Dream of Splendor? He was a nice emperor in that drama, too.
