Putting this up here cuz I personally don't get how people don't see Tawi as a villain just because he wasn't your typical deranged clear cut violent man. All throughout the series his actions have been reiterated again and again to explain why the masses and the gang have been frustrated w him.
So in the end "The Big Bad EVIL Tawi" turns out just to be a successful businessman WTF was he actually guilty…
From being a corrupt capitalist that is above law and uses loopholes for his own benefit, monopolising the market so that local people suffered, using shell corporations, untimely unexplained dismissal of lgbtq+ workers and being the kingpin of a drug trafficking ring so many issues have been explained. Every topic they've touched like impunity, privilege, antitrust law, rule by law, marriage equality etc he is guilty on all accounts. Did you watch it without subtitles? On the contrary all these topics are taboo on Thai media so if you thought this was an attempt at 'pimping' up viewership then you're sadly wrong. The writers were even worried that sponsors would back out and this script would be rejected in totality. But w a lot of censorship and cuts the end script passed.
Hope I won't get bullied for what I'm saying, but I think this is not as good as people in the comment section…
I think it's your disconnect w how groundbreaking this series is in Thai media that makes you feel the script is not enough to be deemed great. This can't be equated w how Western media is blunt about tackling issues of corruption and can easily paint the government as evil. Thailand has a legit law that forbids criticism against the ruler. Censorship made them limit the heavier topics to just classroom backgrounds and also made them avoid explicit finger pointing. These are some of my takes on the script so feel free to disagree. I feel having Tawi as a villain is metaphorical to how capitalism is one of the evils of society, you may not have seen him do evil but plenty of his actions have been verbally stated to explain their anger towards him. And that is what real life villains in society are. Not the snivelly, spinning around on a chair killing people left and right kinds. Tawi being painted as a well spoken, well dressed businessman is purposeful I feel. And thinking long run he may not even be THE evil but just another clog in the corrupt system. His main villianisation is that whatever he does he seems to be above the law. The things he has done are some direct references to real life cases like using loopholes to encroach forest lands, market monopoly and drug trafficking in the ruse of a shell house corporation etc. White was too trustful to see Todd as the one behind Black's hospitalisation and yes in the end it was an eye for an eye but before that even he gets humanised cuz inherently some points he states makes sense, he justifies his actions for the greater good and that leads to Black not being able to completely rid him either. Acting wise I would completely disagree, Off has been a wonderful Sean. Even the director was surprised how he brought more nuance to the character and made him someone you want to root for. Majority of viewers agree that Sean would be one character that deserves happiness. Yes this isn't flawless but it brings up so much conversation and material to debate and discuss over which I don't think a lot of series are able to achieve. The budget is not the only issue that prevents it from being solid. The script could have definitely done better w more time on hand (since covid time crunched them and had them shoot disorderdly and in a rush) and definitely more freedom of speech. The Black/Gene/Gram is probably a matter of taste and there are plenty who have issues w it but I think Black's love for Eugene also brings a softer side to the badass dgaf lone wolf that he is. While the quintessential smart boy Gram makes the stupidest mistake of falling for his best friend's girl. Mond is a good actor and agree that his part in comparison is lacklustre but this story isn't about his character and going in expecting him to be a star of it doesn't make sense to me. He definitely deserves a more meatier role in his future projects. Gumpa is a another side character that has potential to be explored but again time constraints prevent that, it's like if you've gone to watch the Batman movie you can't expect Alfred's past and history to be discussed, Gumpa's just there to be the quintessential mentor and guide. The twins parents I feel show how some of the older generation would choose social standing over what is right and if they could be heartless enough to seperate their children who had such a deep connection for their selfish reasons, I'm not surprised they'd choose maintaining their position over being good parents. SeanWhite living together was neccesary not just for the romance but also for White's personal growth. It opens his eyes to all the privilege that he had been living under and that is one of the key points of the show. More than viewers being attached to OffGun (of course there are plenty cuz they are the main leads and a famous cp) the reason why this series stands out is that among all the staple fair of Thai ent specially bl, this is a very fresh handling of a plot. Most don't even have one beyond the leads falling in love. The pride scene alone stands out cuz in all these tons of bls never has pride flags or marriage equality rights ever been brought up. Plus it helps that the cinematography and choice of bgm has been spot on. Personally I don't think there can be flawless cinema, it's all subjective and it's okay if the plot doesn't satisfy you but it does for others and that should be okay too.
SeanWhite kissing urgh it fills my soul 🤌Now was the end ep anticlimatic? Yes, but this is what happens when…
I especially liked how they brought out the topic of 'enforced dissappearances' and showed how us as a society need to keep watch! I love that they showed the power of unity and humanity and how we the people are the wheels of the system. We have the power to put a break to it. I really liked vulnerability and rawness of the van scene too. The director said they didn't have the budget for high speed car chase scenes so instead she took this approach and I personally found it very fresh. Todd putting Black in a coma was hilarious to me. He really said eye for and eye. The relationships: I've personally always rooted for GramGene over BlackGene cuz realistically Black as a boyfriend sucks. He's too closed off and specially w someone as open to venting emotions like Eugene is, I didn't think they matched. For DanYok, so so thankful that Dan quit his job. I think their short separation also gave Yok the chance to see that if Dan would have kept his job then it would always mean Dan would be divided between supporting Yok or doing his duty. Glad someone punched Dan at least! so now I can finally hope they work things out and paint the walls all over town w their love. SeanWhite, god I love SeanWhite. White with his phoenix metaphor, I've said it before but White has the most poetic love lines in regards to Sean, it's so easy to see how in love he is w Sean entirely. Him asking Black about Sean and Black feeling his love because it's so strong. I loved it. Sean getting some closure from his past because now he actually had a future to look forward to will always be my favourite thing. He's now become one of my favourite fictional characters ever. It's so beautiful to see how Sean and White were from opposite spectrums and spaces of life and society, but they found their perfect match in each other. The end feels very hopeful and open so honestly I am really really hoping for atleast a season 2 or even a movie (but the movie I need it to be a continuation of this and not a summary of season 1). Gonna rewatch the entire thing tomorrow and leave my final review. This definitely deserves a rating of 9+ here on this site specially.
SeanWhite kissing urgh it fills my soul 🤌 Now was the end ep anticlimatic? Yes, but this is what happens when you choose to give everyone a happy ending. That's why I was rooting for a character death lol or even homicide jail time. Still I'm pretty satisfied w this finale. My thoughts.
User Christn that's a fan made edit. They aren't married..please stop writing this everywhere. They aren't living…
The ring and marriage certificate are all said and done jokingly. Today's announcement by Off saying they are dating is real (if it's a joke he didn't say it was so right now everyone is choosing to believe him) and that's why this matters. Youtube is not the go to to get trustworthy information, half of it is clickbait. They may live together in the future or get married later but right NOW they aren't. And I understand you may not be a native english speaker but please at least use full stops somewhere.
A lot of comments and I want to reply to one comment lol but I cannot find it anymore O.o. So I'll let it here.…
White didn't even actually 'know' his brother since they had been separated so expecting him to be a perfect Black doesn't make sense. The reason why he and Todd think they can make it work is cuz they look the same! The personality change can be explained, someone getting plastic surgery to look exactly like Black wouldn't. And you've seen Black does he look like a person who's ever sat and talked his heart out w the gang? Somewhere along the line it's easy to see that White actually became a friend to them while Black was clearly just their leader or gang member. The plot isn't that farfetched albeit it hasn't been fully explored w a lot left to audience's interpretation and general conclusions. Everyday you can see protests sprouting due to something small going viral due to social media so how is it not plausible? George Floyd wasn't the first black person to have faced police brutality but since his last breath and the brutalness of the act was viral on social media did the BLM movement become that historical. Black getting out of a coma and readily fighting is obviously not believable but this is made for mystery romance genre entertainment, it's not a medical drama where that is key. It's difficult to explain every single of action of theirs in 14 eps so it is dependant on how socially aware the audience is. That's why I've always felt this plot could do better w more seasons, but it isn't like the west where at least 3 seasons are guaranteed so they tried to put in everything in 14 eps. The director has said that she wishes she had more time to actually shoot in order and also to see the final product before editing cuz she was shooting and editing simultaneously w her barely making the deadline cuts. We may not all be gang members or social activists, but in today's day and age I think we can all relate to the frustrations they have w the system. That' s why most of us don't question every single point because it IS fiction but rooted in reality. And honestly you don't enjoy it or don't like it but why do you seem angry that there are others who do? Why do you want others to change their opinion on how they feel about the series? I find most bl series lame af but I don't go around spoiling something others like. Sorry if the last bit is harsh but J had an issue w how you said it's a problem that we're 'overlooking' the faults while contrarily you seem to be be focusing only on the flaws. We understand the budget, time issues etc and still appreciate this for the topics it chose to handle cuz it's not easy.
Gun and off are married they actually live together and gun has a ring on so there people they are a married couple
User Christn that's a fan made edit. They aren't married..please stop writing this everywhere. They aren't living together either. Though they do always talk about their future house but it can also mean jokingly.
This series is gonna be with me for a long time and it's ironical how every week prior I couldn't wait for a Sunday while this week I wanna stall for as long as I can.
I'm all up for people not being able to fully 'hate' Dan or understanding why he chose to do what he did but some…
Yok has always had the patience w hot headed Sean and was a true friend when he told Sean what he did was wrong after the choking incident and the fail at the manufacturing unit. This time Sean never ever blamed Yok for having involved Dan, he didn't misplace any of his anger or fear on Yok. Shutting down the very idea of leaving Yok behind and even being the one who was insistent about taking Yok to the hospital even though that meant the possibility of drastic consequences. Him crying for Yok was heartbreaking. I love how this gang's friendship is shown not in hugs and love but in real life and death situations the ones who come through are true. Black is a lone wolf and the one I think who was himself kept everyone afar but even he cared enough to come and save them when he heard what Todd had planned for them.
I'm all up for people not being able to fully 'hate' Dan or understanding why he chose to do what he did but some of the defenses saying he did nothing wrong is were I draw the line. People seem to be forgetting that HE was the one who chose to get himself involved w the gang and the one who offered help and assured them that he could get them the end goal they wanted. And him not being able to go through w those promises IS cowardly. But it isn't evil, he was naive in both his thirst for redemption and for not having the foresight to see that all this could be traced back to him. The others are supposed to be hot headed young men, while he being considerably older and having already faced the double faced ness of the justice system, he should have not been involved if he couldn't go through w it. The one thing that I am happy about for him is, the guilt that had weighed him down all this while regarding Sean's dad, he wouldn't have to live a similar guilt of having betrayed the boys, because he corrected it when he saw the opening. This time he actually stood up for what he thought was eventually right, result be damned. And can we talk about Sean Yok friendship tho
WOW this ep had me on tenterhooks!! What I really like about Not Me and how it handles characters is the complexity of morality. No one literally no one is painted as purely good or purely evil. That's what makes this stand out to me so much. We can't even say what happened was directly betrayal but there was trust broken. There's just so many relationship dynamics and of course this isn't for people who like their fictional characters easy to digest or easy to understand, because you need to think beyond what the script presents. Here we get presented w the situations and their actions and then it's left to us to judge. The only thing I think everyone collectively agrees on is that the acting in this is some of the best we've seen in a series and not just bl. I have so much more to say for this ep but I'm gonna rewatch first.
https://youtu.be/sXNOcrP1pRc If anyone is up for a long watch then you can watch this interview w P'Nuchy and the scriptwriters of Not Me. It's really interesting understanding the thought and different techniques that went into the series. All the reasons for putting in certain scenes etc. Plus the character developments . Sadly they do lament the lack of time specially cuz of covid being a hindrance to the shooting schedule so they had to rush a lot and shoot disorderdly. One thing that boggled me was them saying they'd change the script on the spot and the actors had to relearn the new script then and there. Hats off to them for still being able to show us such good acting. And I loved how they said that their intention was to get people talking and more than awards the people's reactions and conversations have been very fulfilling for them.
Everyone is just going this will probably be their last series together :'(Well atleast they'll be going out with…
See again I don't like going by hearsay on both cases, shippers saying they're dating or other skeptical ones saying that since there aren't as many touchy clingy moments that something is up. What they SAY is what I choose to give precedence to. If they say they're together well and good, if they are seeing other pple well and good. But for both I will believe only when they say it themselves. I like seeing them act and honestly personally I think everyone shouldn't be bothered about their real relationship status specially to the point to say it would affect their proffesionalism. They still work really well together and are actually close enough to respect and understand their partnership so that is what I like. I don't think we need to micro access their every action. Sorry if I come harsh, I just don't like when we don't respect what they state and instead go through hoops to solve them like a mystery.
Everyone is just going this will probably be their last series together :'(Well atleast they'll be going out with…
It's just a thing that bl twitter thinks cuz they have a lot of solo projects individually this year, both Off and Gun have barely given any inclination of not wanting to work together. Maybe we won't get a couple series soon cuz they usually gap for 2-3 yrs but I'm pretty sure this won't be their last.
Everyone is just going this will probably be their last series together :'(Well atleast they'll be going out with…
No he's not in a relationship. He's cleared that out many times, 2020 there was an issue about his friend but it was all mostly antis spreading rumors. People take him being a generally affectionate person out of context. GMMTV has even sued false commenters for this issue. There are anti fans that keep spreading the most useless correlations.
I read all of this and wow. I appreciate them for writing this. I am an only child in a different country from…
I just know twins in passing but I wouldn't say I have ever understood twin connections the way the author has put it. So well written that I felt very emotional for her. The way she describes one as wombmate and the other soulmate, brilliantly put.

I think safe to say this resolves the skeptics if they say that the 'rescue' is improbable.
