It just bothered me after 19 ep trailer that they showed her as a very intelligent general when she joined the camp & if they somehow made her suddenly so blatantly oblivious to an obvious scheming just coz the guy fakes a nice guy persona. But if it goes the way you say, I guess it may not be as bad in the sense she always knew he was a bad apple but didn’t care enough as she considered him simply not worth the attention & had bigger things to worry. Cool, but in the novel she does have doubts on his intentions & chooses to ignore it coz she doesn’t see him as a credible threat & continue to be friends with him? But he clearly does want to get rid of Xiao Jue altogether instead of just scheming against him.I guess that has to be a bottom line for her? So does that mean she eventually discovers his true intention and gets back at him or is it Xiao Jue who handles him?

I understand the cunning part yes. However I am indeed questioning the 'intelligent' part here a bit & wanted to make sure novel also picturised her like that. Because for someone who was so intelligent ever since she joined the recruitment, it makes not much sense for her to fall for a fake nice guy persona just like that without any doubt for several episodes like this. I find that hard to digest haha. But no issues, it is what it is :)

Ok, kind of makes sense & maybe the show deviates a bit from novel due to rebirth stuff but still bugs me not gonna lie haha. From today’s episode it’s clear she already has feelings for Xiao Jue so I just don’t get how a top-class general like her can’t sense the threat Chu Zhao poses when he’s clearly trying to get rid of her beloved & obviously getting close to her with hidden agenda. Like we’re already 20 episodes in which is more than halfway. I was hoping she’d be sharp enough to at least keep him close while suspecting him. Guess I was just expecting too much xD

My only grey area here is that a top class general is not suspecting an hidden danger lurking near them for so many episodes. It would be so disappointing if she continues to fall for the 'nice guy' persona of chu zhao for these many episodes ngl. So I was hoping it was more of a ploy from her.

I’ve watched up to Episode 15 & also seen the trailers up to Episode 19. Even by Ep19 , He Yan still appears to be on friendly terms with Chu Zhao. But Xiao Jue had already started suspecting that Chu Zhao was in cahoots with Xu Jingfu way earlier. I’m a bit puzzled here coz He Yan is supposed to be an intelligent general, right? Has she really not suspected Chu Zhao at all by this point?? Or is she just pretending to be his friend while secretly suspecting him? Also wonder why Xiao jue hasn’t told her about his suspicions yet about chu zhao.
In the novel, when does she actually start doubting his intentions? I would appreciate a little insight regarding this from the novel. Cheers :)

Yes, there’s a good improvement already in EP15 where he opens up to FL about giving her the candy back when she was blind. Much better than earlier episodes. The whole scene was so beautifully shot with great emotional subtlety from both leads esp. Zhou ye is just outright amazing 👏 Hopefully we see more of this expressive self from now atleast.

Personally for me the show is living up to the expectations very well as someone who hasn't read the novel. However tbh there's just one thing that's kinda bugging me so far & that's ryan's stiff acting. Like same expression for 14 eps straight is just not cutting it for me. Zhou Ye switches it up with so many expressions while he keeps that same stiff constipated look pretty much the whole time in all of their scenes. I get it’s his character here but there’s only so much charm in keeping that straight face as a cold general but for so many episodes makes it look jarring :/. However the trailers for next eps does give me hope as it seems he is loosening up a bit for the romance arc. Fingers crossed.
