I’m just catching up on the show and on epi 6 now. I have always been of the opinion that Dew’s acting leaves…
I felt he was a bit awkward at first but improved over time. My only criticism was more his diction but that also got better too. I was actually quite moved by his crying scene on the roof with Gorya.
The new EP of F4 Obsessed: Deep Dive EP 7 is out! As usual, the two ladies deliver a lot of insights and details I missed. Love the discussion of different character archetypes in this EP.
I really one of the two show hosts MC will have a chance to interview the director or someone from the production team. If you enjoy their analysis too, please help share their work and raise their visibility.
I get that a lot of people felt uncomfortable watching Thyme regress to his old or even worse self. And I have…
Thank you for your articulate thoughts! I especially like this part: "Even though he’s given up on himself, she’s the only one that hasn’t fully yet." Gorya chooses to be a part of his healing journey.
She herself is violence prone as well (for example, she kicked Tesla and ran away when the security came) but she wields her power in a more appropriate way. Thyme is learning but has a lot more to learn from her and others. He may regress again and again (and that is to be expected) but as long as he moves steadily forward, he is on a good path.
I think he'll learn (and we all learn) that bad behavior has consequences. He has been shielded from negative repercussions due to his family's wealth and power. I look forward to seeing how this issue gets addressed in later EPs.
I think the series does a great job of presenting contemporary issues really well (classism, bullying, violence and aggression) but with more modern messages (e.g. stronger, more empowered female leads, family bond vs material wealth, ML being more self-aware of his own flaws). These issues still exist in the society, whether or not viewers choose to see them or not in real life. They are thus relevant even in today's context. We may not yet see how these are resolved but we have 9 more episodes to look forward too.
I enjoy all the thoughtful discussions. What I don't care for are thinly disguised hate/bias against the series or particular cast members. I actually enjoy reading heavy, substantive discussions and participating in discourse of differing views. Stimulating healthy discussions on societal issues is a part of the success of this series.
I like that F4 Thailand is stimulating some discussions about Thyme's violent behavior w/ very little repercussion. Rich, influential people often get away with wrongdoings in Thailand. We need to question such things in society, the way Gorya questions the "red card" system.
Another thing I appreciate too is how Thai celebs are normally treated with respect and given some space and privacy…
Wow, I had no idea Tu had so many antis. They seem to feed on hate. Is the tide turning though? I saw no Twitter about how some people used to be so scared about posting anything about Tu but now there are enough Tu's fans for the tide to turn. Not sure how it is on FB though.
Thyme has anger issues, he’s like a wild animal, he is a ticking bomb, his character has always been this, we…
Thyme's rage was about deep hurt and hate too. He hates himself for never measuring up to his mom's expections. He is deeply hurt for trying to change and failing to win approval from Gorya as Gorya was the first to give him a new path toward redemption. But when all that came crashing down, the rage, the hurt and the self-hate unleashed in such a painful way. I cried the hardest in this scene. Thyme's pain was so palpable.
This ep is sooooo good. So satisfying. The downs and ups. The F4 breakup, Thyme's rage, Ren & Gorya's date, Kavin & Kaning & Gorya humiliating Tesla, the epic F4 fight, Ren helping the clueless couple come to their senses, Thyme officially ending red cards.
Everything came together so well. Still can't process it yet. I cried, I laughed, I screamed and then grinned like a fool. What is this series doing to me?
I almost had a heart attack during the last scene when Gorya came home thinking about Thyme and then came face to face with his mom. That glare!! She is such a scary killjoy.
One thing I like about Thailand actors & actresses interactions between their co-stars compared to Korean/Chinese…
Another thing I appreciate too is how Thai celebs are normally treated with respect and given some space and privacy when they are out and about in public places with their family and friends.
On toxic BL fans, any speculation on why they are more toxic than non-BL fans? I'm guessing that it might have something to do with:
1) they are BL fans because they are more prone to fantasy and thus have a harder time separating fantasy from reality;
2) some are LGBTQ+ or other "out" groups who have been bullied, directly or indirectly, and have internalized some of the behavior of the bullies;
3) BL fans rely more on social media for belonging and acceptance but some go about it the wrong way as socmed is not a healthy place and seems to bring out tribalism in people.
When the PR blitz starts (hopefully soon!), I hope the director gets plenty of interview time. his interview can even be aired after the series is done so as not to spoil anything. But I'd love to hear him talk about all the little details that he and his team incorporated into the set, scenes, stories, costumes, dialogue, etc. He is such a master at his craft.
Under 30, team thyme Gorya and rens dynamics are more of supportive friends who understand eachother With thyme…
Yes, I believe Ren will continue to be an important supportive friend for Gorya, but also waiting in the wing to make moves if Thyme doesn't have his act together.
Sometimes people just want to be overly critical due to jealousy, tribalism, ... who knows?
