This is an example of a drama that is all done well. Funny scenes, mystery scenes, sad scenes, romance scenes, fighting scenes are all almost perfect. Its is very well written, interpreted and directed well. This seems to be the best Chinese drama I have ever watched. Even joy of life is not as good as this drama in my opinion.
The plot of this drama is a mess. Written like a soap opera, it is too full of hustle and bustle, which is made worse by the characterization of the roles in the drama being too black and white and written superficially. Except for one character, "The Real King".
However, this drama is not completely full of flaws, what shines from this drama is the dialogue writing in the drama, I admit it is good.
At first I wanted to give a rating of 8.0 for this drama. However, the scene at the end of episode 8 really amazed me when I watched it. So I give it 8.5.
This is one of the proper forms of a good mystery investigation drama. The mystery is revealed at the right time with sufficient and interesting explanations.
It doesn't feel like the mystery reveal has been dotted and crammed with too many clues so that the audience no longer needs to guess like in the drama "In Blossom".
Nor is it confusing and annoying because the mystery is difficult to follow, like in "Melody of the Golden Age" where the mystery is revealed with long and dense dialogue but with almost no visual explanation.

They dated in the past (High school) in episode 2, They dated again in episode 7. They broke up due to misunderstandings in high school. There are no annoying love triangles, all relationships between main lead and second lead (SFL and SML) are resolved maturely, hahaha, they are in their 30s, that's how it should be.
In fact, almost all of the relationship conflicts in this drama, in my opinion, are resolved maturely.

The director of this drama is the same as the director of "Go Ahead" which is also phenomenal on its "slice of life" part. If you haven't watched it, please watch it.

Even though this is a costume drama and adaptation, I really have high expectations that he will use the same approach and style as his two previous dramas.
And one more thing, ML from "Meet Yourself" is also the ML in this drama, and some supporting actors in Meet Yourself also playing in this drama.
