Pei Yan’s mansion is so easily infiltrated, and if he knew FL is the bait, yet he didn’t send guards to protect…
Wei Zhao is just that skilled LOL. I also think Pei Yan knows at this point that Wei Zhao won't kill Jiang Ci easily knowing that he would go out of his way to save her to find WZ's identity + so he constantly uses her as a bait to get as much information about the assassin as possible. Poor Jiang Ci is like some ball being thrown between those two to collect info.
could someone please explain to me the poisoning of Lady Zhou. Is the crown Prince and his brother look on the…
The crown prince and brother as of episode 3 are 3rd parties that got dragged in because Wei Zhao couldn't make his move openly.
Pei Yan leaked the news that he needs the elixir to save Jiang Ci (as Jiang Ci knows how to identify the assassin now) thinking that Wei Zhao would either A) Openly put a stop to it which would mean he was the assassin or related to it or B) Don't do anything and Pei Yan would get the elixir and save Jiang Ci anyway (which would then allow her to identify him later).
Wei Zhao then have Lady Zhou (beloved concubine of the third prince) poisoned with the same Miao poison so the third prince would also then go and beg the king for the elixir. He is basically using the third prince to fight Pei Yang for the elixir (so that Jiang Ci can't be saved).
I don't know why many are upset with the way ML treats FL😅. it's clear that he is a ruthless character who’s…
Agreed, episode 2 makes it more obvious that FL is not an exception with the way he dealt with his kin's corpses. He is ruthless with everyone, even to himself, to minimize any risk (until further notice haha).
WETV also skips all the names and stuff that appear in text on the screen...
Yup, the iQiyi sub is not doing this drama justice at all. I just finished episode 2 and there is already so much info regarding the different nations, the internal court opposition, Jiang Ci's master, etc.
Aw, I can see why a lot of the characters will come to like Jiang Ci so much (both the male and female characters). In the midst of all this political fighting, Jiang Ci reminds them of the simple things in life. She gets excited just by the different food she gets to try and speaks of normal common everyday things as fun experiences. It is hard to not let their guards down around her.
I'm on episode 4 and so far the ML is barely present, the FL has spent most of her screentime in confinement,…
ML is actually showing up more in the beginning of the drama than he did in the beginning of the novel. In the novel, he really didn't show up a lot until almost halfway of the novel. It is also why novel readers at first thought Pei Yang was the ML since he appeared a lot more in the beginning. It is pretty atypical storytelling, but it does make it stand out from other novels.
By episode 2, they are already dropping hints/connections between Jiang Ci's master and Yue Luo. The bitterless congee, she supposedly having been to Yue Luo when she was younger, etc.
I am soooo glad the production crew listened to fans and didn't use the white filter for the actual drama like they did with their teasers/trailers. Very happy to see the colors pop.
I am a bit confused by the novel ending (only found google translate) can someone please spoil if it is a HE or…
It depends on what you view as a happy ending.
ML succeed in his plot for revenge and peace was achieved among the nations. However, ML died while killing the king. But before he went to war, he and FL spent the night together, and FL became pregnant with his child from that night.
FL and their child lived and went on to live a peaceful life.
2nd ML still loves FL but FL's feelings for him long faded away after the things he did, and ML is who FL loves after their journey together.
2nd ML ended up marrying someone for political reasons in order to keep the peace. 3rd ML's love interest was the one who married 2nd ML.
3rd ML and FL are good friends and 3rd ML has always had a soft spot for her so he ends up supporting her and the child at the end (some people see this as them potentially having something in the future and others see it as just them co-parenting).

Yeah, I was watching on iQiyi and they translated so many of the dialogues wrongly. I am watching on asianc.sh right now and the English sub is definitely better but they didn't translate the onscreen names/time frame either (for example the whole planning before the peace conference was one month before the first scene with Jiang Ci, it was shown as text on screen but wasn't translated).
So the beginning of drama is fateful to beginning of novel???
Kind of, they moved up the scene of Jiang Ci meeting Wei Zhao and being stabbed to episode 1, in the novel (from what I know), we actually see Jiang Ci first in her village/mountain and her narration there before all this plot starts happening.
Jiang Ci is so cute. I love how upbeat she is and will always get her lick back some way or another. Just a simple girl who wanted to see the world and eat all the delicious food in the world yet somehow got suck into all of this. Her biggest advantage really is that she doesn't die easily. She has a strong will to live.
I know ppl are already rooting for 2nd ML but hold your horses. 😂 ML is cruel from the get-go but 2nd ML is insidious and that's all I can say for now.
Besides working in the court/fighting in battles, Wei Zhao was forced to be one of the king's bedmates since he…
Haha, ML's other tragic backstory (his clan) has been kept and that is already tragic enough, he is already too pitiful in the novel, so I am glad they removed this aspect.
Besides working in the court/fighting in battles, Wei Zhao was forced to be one of the king's bedmates since he…
No, it is not really a matter of sex/gender to the king, he just beds everyone he thinks is beautiful regardless of age and gender. He is basically a predator. He did this to many.
And no, there has been historical gay/bisexual kings in China before.

Jiang Ci: How about I swim to get into the residence 😆☝️
This also explains why she was looking wet in the first episode and the towel being so wet. She cracks me up.
