I was on Weibo and saw fans complaining about the filter and it seems like some have also directly communicated with production to not use this filter for the drama so we will see if they listen to the feedback.
Some fans were also meh with the way the trailer was cut because it didn't show why the novel was so interesting/special in the first place and now made it seem like some typical ML revenge plot only.
I know some actors/actresses have in their contracts demanding these filters to be used to not show wrinkles in their faces during drama... other times it is production thinking it will look "better". Viewers have complained over and over again about the use of these filters, but they just kept on using it. It is such an online influencer type thing and I really dislike seeing the influence in current drama especially historical ones where these modern "tech" shouldn't even exist.
I hope they remove the filter they used for the trailer for the actual drama because it makes the drama looks like a typical idol drama with the skin smoothing filter they are using. Give us colors! Give us skin texture!

In terms of her styling in this drama, they really put no effort into it (her character is a mountain/servant girl, but they really rolled her hair in a bun and called it a day) but at least her acting will shine through like always.

Yup, usually fans keep their mouths shut and try not to start anything while the drama is filming. After the drama is release is another thing and pretty much all fandoms go open fire LOL.
ARP's fans need to take it up with the production. ARP himself is the one who accepted the script, so he knows how many scenes he has and is okay with them. He is also not at the point where he can lead a drama with his acting or popularity alone. LLD might not be the most popular 1995-1999 actress with a big fanbase, but her acting is considered the top of that generation.
Not to mention having tons of scenes =/= watchers will like you/your character. At the end of the day, it comes down to the character set up and acting. So many recent actresses/actors have blew up recently despite being supporting roles because they acted well/interesting characters (while the main actresses/actors didn't act well).

I think they didn't realize this was a female lead drama (aka FL-centric). From what I know, the novel had like 600-700 chapters and ML didn't even appear until way later.
It came into head because LLD's fans couldn't take it anymore since ARP's fans were shading her again over him not having a full packed filming schedule (making it seem like she was the one who decided on the script). They retaliated and revealed some his fans have been shading her since early April by saying how she is fat and not popular, etc.
The ARP fan who started this eventually deleted their posts, so I guess the issue is resolved for now.
I am not surprised this happen though since 2nd lead fans tend to act up when they feel like their favs don't get enough screentime. But just bad move on his fans' part because ARP is not really considered some top traffic star right now and I guess they thought LLD was easy to harass given she doesn't have as many fans that fight in fandom drama like all the other actors/actresses (most of her fans are more casual drama fans).

From the comments I have seen based on the novel, the 2nd ML is paired with the 2nd FL. The ML and 2nd ML are relatives/cousins.
In the original novel, FL's family was destroyed and FL's soul then went into the body of this lady (from a rich/decent household but the lady wasn't favored) who passed away. Then the story proceeds from there where FL now as this lady is trying to figure out why her family was targeted and killed off (while solving other cases at the same time). The original lady has a fiancé (but bad relationship) so there might be a "love triangle" there.
I don't know if they are keeping the whole soul into new body trope though since these types of tropes might get censored in C-dramas. I think the scriptwriter will probably change that part.
This scriptwriter is the same one as "Love Like the Galaxy" where the original novel is also a soul into new body trope and they removed that for the drama.
Fun fact: The director, Zhu Dong Ning, appeared twice in this drama.
