One would think for an interior design company or furniture company they would make an accessible ramp for the…
They have it in the later episodes (they created a permanent ramp area on the side of the stairs). It is not easy adding in accommodations/ADA modifications, not even a wooden ramp because there are building regulations, and you need to have approvals first (which they seem to have gotten with what we see in the later episodes).
Love how they explore the psychological impact of terminal medical conditions too. Especially in episode 20 where we get to see other people with ALS and how their attitudes and other events in their lives also influence the prognosis and caretaker burn out.
When the male lead breaks up withthe female lead does she leave him or stick with hom and continue going after…
Let's just say it is a process. They still see each other though here and there. The episodes between the break up and getting back together again is focused on other people in his life finding out about his illness so it is a pretty important process because it took awhile for him to even start letting others know (some only found out by accident at first).
When the male lead breaks up withthe female lead does she leave him or stick with hom and continue going after…
Nah don't worry, they get back together. Noooo, HXD doesn't try to ruin/end their relationship. LT did it himself LMAO. HXD is more of a FL defender, so she is more protective of the FL.
I know some people find He Xin Di annoying, but her character is pretty important in this story IMO. Unlike our other characters (Lin Tuo who has his grandfather, AZQ who has her dad, and CGP who has his parents), HXD is someone who didn't have a good parental figure at all and view AZQ's dad as pretty much her godfather. She has seen constant failed relationships from her parents (constant remarrying and ignoring the children) and her own failed relationships with being cheated on. She let it slip during her CNY convo with CGP that she "doesn't have a home".
I know people were upset that she went to LT's face and questioned him if he was cheating but I don't think she was wrong to question that. We of course side with LT because we knew his side of the story. But look at AZQ's and HXD's side. AZQ got a text message to break up (no explanation) and this was right after the 1-week trip he supposedly had. HXD asked CGP but no answer was provided. Usually, our mind would go straight to the man cheated and he couldn't admit it, so he is not giving an explanation.
Later, AZQ found out LT lied about where he went for a week. Irl, none of us is going to think oh, our partner lied to us because they are going to die so they had a one week check up in the hospital. Most of us would probably think our partner probably did something they can't admit to during that week. And again, LT was given chances to explain, and he didn't. Even during the dinner scene when HXD made a scene, she still said "If I am wrong, then give me a rebuttal". But again, LT didn't say anything. This scene was important too since it led to CGP exposing the truth about LT to the senior.
HXD might say certain things that are uncomfortable to hear but I think she speaks for some people who might think these things deep down. That yes, AZQ is doing this for love and LT's parents are grateful. But at the same time, of course they would be, because AZQ is pretty much doing this for free. She is taking on the day-to-day mental exhaustion that An papa warned her about (that it left him with trauma and permanent injury from taking care of her mom with cancer). HXD is like that cold splash of water in a way, that this doesn't simply end with LT's death in the future. AZQ will have to live with it. Also, HXD might say certain things, but she is still soft inside. She was the one who took AZQ to the soccer game hoping she and LT will have a chance to talk.
To summarize, I think HXD is necessary in the drama especially because she gives us perspective of our FL. Majority of the people in this drama is more of ML's people (since this is more of his lens with his illness from his family, his boss, his friends, etc.). AZQ mainly just has her dad and HXD to bring up to the audience what she will be going through and the aftermath.
Average because most people are not going to be willing to watch this drama. A family during dinner time would…
Another positive though is that it again affirms what an amazing actress Li Landi is and people being surprised that Lin Yi did well too and has the range since in this cast, he is considered more green.
Just curious, does anyone know how this drama is doing in mainland china? is it popular? I feel like this is one…
Average because most people are not going to be willing to watch this drama. A family during dinner time would rather watch something more uplifting and not about someone having a terminal illness.
In addition, this drama is doing little to no promotion compared to other drama. Mainly because 1) They can get dragged by using ALS as a tool of promotion and 2) It is hard to fry CP/the ship when one of them has an end date.
People are usually more accepting of ML/FL dying in historical drama because it is historical, and it comes with that genre but modern death hits too close to home. I see a lot of comments on Douyin saying they are watching the clips, but they can't bring themselves to watch the actual drama because they know they will cry non-stop.
I think the production/cast themselves know this drama is risky to begin with and won't bring in massive returns but it seems like their goal was just so more people know about ALS and they are hoping it can bring about even just a bit of change. I have seen a lot of comments asking about what is ALS on Chinese social media so I think it met its goal in spreading awareness.
Episode 19: Definitely grandpa's episode and he got me sobbing.
The HXD and CGP's romantic subplot is hilarious to me. They aren't even technically dating but are like those old aged married couples and not CGP taking HXD to go see his parents during CNY. Sir... at this point, just marry.
This episode really said yes let us give you heartwarming family scenes celebrating the New Years before ending it with THAT. Angst about to be in full force again.
I watched manyyyy drama about disease, terminal illness etc. But this is really sad with incredible acting and…
Yup, they really know how to hit you in the feels. Especially because all the characters are well rounded, so you really feel the depth of their emotions from a lover's point of view, a friend's POV, a boss's POV, a parent's POV, etc.
Episode 18 is such an uplifting episode aw... how I wish time can just stop there and stop progressing. Just seeing everyone working together to try to allow Lin Tuo to still be able to live like how he wants (being able to go to work, do some tasks, etc.). Just lovely to see how people can really come together and be hopeful together.
She is ridiculously talented and filmed this when she was 22 years old (2 years ago). Her acting is even better…
Yeah, there are always behind the scene issues when drama doesn't release on typical timeline. Some issues include platforms don't think it is worth it to release those drama (because the cast isn't super popular), they think other drama are more worth it to release so push up those drama instead, problems/conflicts with the director/producer/cast, the topic of the drama might be a bit controversial, etc.

Yes, they were waiting for it to air on CCTV so it took some time (most drama only air online so they release usually within 6 months to year).
She filmed "The Starry Love" when she was 21 years old, then this drama, then "All the Way to the Sun". Next drama to be released should be "Love of Nirvana". She has another drama "Su Ji" that has been in storage for years (filmed in 2020) and not sure if that will get released.
Li Landi's performance up till now has been so good but episode 17 really took the cake for now
She is ridiculously talented and filmed this when she was 22 years old (2 years ago). Her acting is even better now and I can't wait see her upcoming works.
Episode 17: Li Landi said she will be ACTING! So glad AZQ finally found out. Lin Tuo pining so hard by going to see her in secret again and again, of course he did be found out soon hah. Understandable reaction from An Papa. He knew best how it was like to be a caretaker of someone sick and AZQ is still so young... it won't be easy for her. But like she said, she did carry the guilt forever with her and she loves him. SIGH. AZQ is so strong. She really went into action after she found out, from talking to her dad, the doctor, seeing other ALS patients, and then talking to Lin Tuo's parents to plan how to take care of Lin Tuo. I can see why Li Landi said AZQ is a character that left a piece inside of her even now after 2 years of filming.
An Zhique to Lin Tuo: "While I can still persist/push through, let me stay by your side"
Oh boy, it is obvious grandpa has a feeling that something is wrong, but he is waiting on them to tell him eventually. My heart will break.
Episode 16: Extremely wonderful to see that heart-to-heart conversation between Lin Tuo and his dad. Plus, his dad and mom actually apologizing??? Not a lot of parents would actually apologize so I am happy that Lin Tuo got that from them. Lin Tuo also learned more about his dad too and what his dad was so driven for to the point that he neglected other roles (i.e. husband, father, etc.) in his life.
Lin Tuo's dad narration too about how there are exams for colleges to be a good student, exams to get a job and become a good worker but there aren't exams for parents. That children didn't get to choose their parents, and, in this case, they (Lin Tuo's parents) failed him and didn't pass as good parents.
I love this because I think sometimes, Asian dramas can focus on so much on filial piety that it is rare for the narration to show parents apologizing or admitting they were wrong. That because your parents gave birth to you and they struggled, you should still accept their neglect.
Truly need to treasure the people you love while they are still here... Lin Tuo's parents are basically trying to make up for the lost time and remaining time now that they know but they would have gone on with their lives not giving Lin Tuo their full attention and care if he didn't have this condition... The irony of it all.
Sometimes parents are so stubborn and busy that they only focus on making sure their kids pass exams and go to schools that they neglect LIVING alongside their kids. That their kids are also human beings that need visible love and care. That there needs to be communication and time spend together. I guess at least Lin Tuo is getting it now.
