Cracking up in episode 2 when Lin Tuo got to do his online interview and they gotta arrange the dorm room background to look decent, truly the college life with the life hacks haha
In the middle of watching episode 2 and I really appreciate the "get to know each other" conversations between Lin Tuo and An Zhique. I feel like sometimes a lot of convo between the leads in typical romance drama are a lot of nothing/superficial and the deeper talks are not really shown to the audience. But they are shown discussing about their background, their parents, how they grew up, etc. They are such simple convos but they serve to build a strong foundation for the audience to understand why they match (and not just because the drama wants the two together for the drama's sake).
I really like the character/relationship set-ups already not just for the mains, but also the supporting roles.
Lin Tuo: Just from episode 1, we can tell he is actually a kind person. And not just a nice person to the FL, he is a nice person in general (from FL, to his friends, to even a stranger in the bathroom) which I think is almost a rarity in romance drama where the typical trope is ML is super nice to FL (because he likes her) but average/even cold to others. It is clear from episode 1 that his grandpa is almost like a parental figure to him while his own parents aren't always there for him (and he yearns for that).
An Zhique: Hard-working, courageous, and honest are the words I thought of our FL in episode 1. From her working different part-time jobs to her leaving the interview because she felt that it won't have been fair for her to have the interview when Lin Tuo took the fall for her. FL is someone who wants to give her a father a better life/paying their mortgage so is in the mind-set of earning money, but she won't let that cloud her integrity. I love how FL straight up says she is poor to the ML. π
Really love the chemistry between the mains so far just from episode 1. The mutual crush is so apparent and adorable.
I watched Li Landi's dramas before and she is the one of the best in acting in the current 1995-1999 gen for me among the Chinese actresses. She is a child actress too so she has been in this field for around 10+ years at this point. She was also 2nd place (1st among the ladies) in her graduating class from Central Academy and definitely deserved.
I watched Lin Yi's historical drama years ago but that one I dropped because the plot was not great. So this will be my first drama with him fully.
A video interview just released of the director, producer, screenwriter, costume designer, etc. talking about this drama and the main actor/actress and you can tell a lot of hearts were put into this drama. They even spoke with a medical doctor who specializes in ALS and someone living with ALS as they wrote/adapted this drama.
I also just saw the CCTV schedule and it will be episode 1 on 3/9, then 2 episode a day, then final episodes (episode 24) on 3/21.
So excited that this is most likely going to air soon (for real this time since Li Landi's March schedule has some program filming on 3/2 so probably filming some promo for this drama and Lin Yi mentioned in an interview that this drama is airing soon) and on CCTV too. This is like Li Land's 6th or 7th drama to air on CCTV so they must really like her a lot (not to mention like 2-3 of her past dramas are getting rerun on TV right now too) plus her acting can always be trusted to be shown to the general public.
We all know this drama is a sad one so get ready to cry.
Happy birthday then! I really loved the acting in this drama. It was what kept me watching
Same! The cast has been great and really engaging. I ended up really liking all the characters even when they make uhhh not the best decisions lmao because they really made me feel for them. LLD has a good future ahead of her! Her other drama with Lin Yi is rumored to air soon so I will be watching that too.
Yeah, it is an open ending and I am good with that. I think if they do have a relationship now, it did work so…
Yup!! I enjoyed the ride! I was having C-drama fatigue with all the recent historical romance C-dramas (with most I ended up dropping) so it was nice to watch something different for a change. I am usually pretty picky with modern dramas so I am glad I enjoyed this one overall.
Man, the characters really went through it. It is never easy to accomplish something and to maintain it. They can gain something in one episode and then lost it all in the next episode. I am very happy at where the characters ended up at the end and more importantly, they are truly happy.
Gosh! So many things and happenings all in one episode!!! Iβm speechless. The reminiscences at the pavilion…
Yeah, it is an open ending and I am good with that. I think if they do have a relationship now, it did work so much better than when Mujia was in her mid/late 20s because Mujia now has her own career that is not heavily tied to Li Guang.

"Play the Play" is where the cast/production talk more in-depth about the drama making process and they perform scenes of the drama on live stage.
