Lmao this is what happens when people have to wait for the episodes. I think people are so used to dramas floundering towards the end that they are worried about this plot point, but I believe they will deal with it well.

Oh for sure! Like if people are shipping based on pure love, this drama is not it lol. This relationship will always have an underlying wariness. She can't go into this relationship with just her heart and ignore everything else since there is no 100% that this relationship will always be good. She needs to be prepared on how to deal with a potential fallout.

I haven't watched the latest episodes just yet, but I saw some clips and it seems like Lawyer Wu is having Mujia handled the divorce case of the woman who married into rich. I have read comments and it seems like people agreed this is Lawyer Wu's way of taking care of Mujia because if she has this experience and if she does get together with Li Guang and in the future (beyond the drama), IF they somehow divorce, Mujia would know what to do to make sure she doesn't lose out on anything that she should be getting. I love this so much because yes everything might be good right now but who really knows what will happen in 10-20 years. Mujia needs to make sure she won't lose out on getting the compensations she should be getting if this relationship ended in the future.

I wasn't totally surprised because he did get married before and in his 40s, unless they didn't want to have a kid or there were infertility issues, him having a kid would probably be mentioned sooner or later.

C-side who is shipping hardcore right now have 2 camps, either they don't really care, or they really care about this mainly because they wonder if Mujia knows. I think Mujia already know since she investigated him before (we shall see).

I saw some ppl saying him having a kid is a good thing because Mujia then won't be pressured to give birth LOL. And a daughter is even better because if they do get divorced someday, inheritance and whatnot won't be as complicated with a daughter VS with a son who might want everything.

Lmao, I think it is a good wakeup call because at the end of the day, this is not an idol drama. 😂

Yup, and her end goal is to get married. She is not sure if Li Guang is someone who can give her that. I saw a clip for the preview, and she outright asked him if he would be able to marry her so we shall see how he answers. I don't think she is totally wrong because at the end of the day, someone in his position can easily switch to the next woman he has his eyes on. He might be interested in Mujia now, but we don't know for sure if there won't be Mujia 2.0 in the future who did catch his eyes again. But if she does give him a chance, she might just come to find out he is different than she thought.

Episode 16:

Tian Rong has a really messy tenant, so she had to clean up after him.

Mujia's and Tian Rong's discussion: Li Guang, her dealing with the contract (slowing it down), Wan Bing and his dad, Tian Rong wanting to sell her remaining 2 houses to buy one closer to work, Chen Qing's mom wanting Chen Qing and her boyfriend to buy a house, Xiao Ding, Tian Rong trying to convince Mujia to buy a house even if it is not in JLW.

More talk about the Li Ming Building Project between Li Guang and one of his foodie buddies.

New building for sale opening up and the girls went to see it. Chen Qing ran away LOL.

Mujia later went to see Li Guang to pass the Shanghai contract to him. She was about to leave but he asked her to stay for small talk.

Their discussion: Mujia's mom, how she has been, if she is not that busy why didn't she call/text him, him wanting answer to his confession, Mujia turned him down stating it did be hard to separate work/relationship (and another reason she didn't expand on yet) and Li Guang said he is really good at separating work and love.

Mujia got a call to go see the houses and Li Guang went with her. He showed his expertise here and also pushed back his meeting until tomorrow to spend more time with her. Li Guang got a call from the dude he had been fighting with in the lawsuit and they came to an agreement (transferring part of his stocks to Li Guang) so the Li Ming Building Project can now restart (aka Li Guang won this battle). They then have a celebration with Li Guang's foodie friends and drank wine.

Mujia woke up on Li Guang's bed next to Li Guang and she sneaked out. Li Guang called asking why she left without saying anything. Mujia said he was sleeping, nothing happened, and it wasn't like they had a one-night stand. He got upset and accidentally hurt his foot while she hanged up LMAO.

He went to work in a wheelchair LMAOOO.

Client Li and Wan Bing got into an argument and Wan Bing straight up said he is interested in Tian Rong. Wan Bing asked to stay at Tian Rong's place (with her tenant) since he basically ran away from his dad.

Episode 17:

Apartment unit next to Mujia's place is on sale and Tian Rong wants to buy it. She made a deal with that landlord to give her a month to collect the money needed to buy the place.

Mujia called Li Guang to update him again about the contract/case and Li Guang said dinner tonight but then he got notified that he had to go overseas for the project that same night. Mujia texted Li Guang she can't go because she has something to do (lie), and she also got a text from Li Guang about needing to go overseas.

Mujia and Tian Rong hanging out again and Tian Rong asked Mujia if she was sure Li Guang is single and Mujia said she investigated that he was lmao. Mujia wondered if Li Guang would want to marry her but at the same time feels like men his age want freedom/not marriage and can switch partners quick. Tian Rong asked her how she did approach this relationship then and Mujia said she would become a professional who he can't bear to separate from.

Tian Rong and Mujia got into an argument since Tian Rong is trying to get more money to buy the house that she might be toeing the line of doing something illegal. Tian Rong then said it is not like she has someone like Li Guang that is chasing after her. Mujia then said their relationship is not chasing/being chased, more of he gives commands/she listens because she is technically working for his cases right now. That it is tough for her because on one hand she /is/ charmed by him, but she is also having a hard time maintaining this type of relationship. Tian Rong said Mujia changed and Mujia said Rong changed too. Tian Rong stormed out of Mujia's place.

Next morning, Tian Rong was about to sell the watch she brought herself to add to her $$$ for the house. Mujia showed up to give her the remaining money, so she doesn't have to sell her watch. Tian Rong then gave the watch to Mujia, and they made up. At the same time here, Wan Bing transferred the money Tian Rong needed into her account because Tian Rong previously asked him if he could give her that amount out of annoyance.

Client Li found out and Wan Bing lied saying he lost the money via stock, but Client Li knows it is Tian Rong. Tian Rong gave the money back to Client Li. Tian Rong admits that she does like Wan Bing but knows she doesn't match him, so Client Li don't have to worry.

Tian Ring vented out her feelings to Mujia about being looked down by Client Li and her feelings about Wan Bing.

Lawyer Wu asked Mujia to come help her something regarding her son (running a three-legged race). They won hehe. Lawyer Wu's ex later showed up to join the event and the son spoke about how much he loved both of them for his family introduction during the event. Lawyer Wu's friend/acquaintances at the school event said that Lawyer Wu should had suck it up for the kid aka ignored the cheating. Mujia pissed for Lawyer Wu.

Client Li introduced Tian Rong to a bunch of associates who does house buying (high key funny that he doesn't want Rong as a daughter-in-law but basically training her to have the ability to take over for him someday lmao).

Lawyer Wu and ex got into an argument since ex wants the house under Lawyer Wu's mom's name. Mistress also showed up to join the fight. Mujia shoved the mistress away LMAO.

Li Guang called Mujia, but she didn't answer so he went to the law firm to wait for her. Mujia didn't answer because her phone was on silent. Li Guang apologized for panicking and Mujia said she isn't mad. Li Guang said he is.

Mujia: "Why? Because I didn't jump into your arms?"

He drove her to the meeting place she had to go (in place of Lawyer Wu since she wasn't feeling well).

Welp, it is essentially a drinking party with Lawyer Xia, Fan, and this other dude (some important guest) who is shady (all men except for Mujia... we know where this is going). Mujia drank in apology since Lawyer Wu couldn't be there and said she can't drink anymore since she is light weighted. Mujia said Lawyer Xia knows this and Lawyer Xia denied (aka not helping her). Fan then poured more for Mujia to drink. Mujia whispered to pour less which Fan did, but the shady dude saw and said to fill it to the top. Mujia drank quick then spit it out on a towel while Fan poured for the others. Shady dude said to keep pouring. Mujia found a chance to go to the bathroom and return to apologize with a drink. Shady dude said she has to drink the 3rd punishment drink first and then the other apology drink. Mansplaining to her while he is at it ugh. Li Guang then showed up.

The ending is tragic in the novel from what I know. Career wise they are good but their romantic lives ended up bad. Li Guang in the novel was still married and Mujia was his mistress, and he wasn't the official ML either. The novel didn't have official MLs since Mujia in the novel had different romantic relationships which all failed (college boyfriend, Li Guang, younger boyfriend, etc.) and she then ended up marrying a gay man for marriage of convenience.

LWB is the confirmed endgame for Tian Rong. There was a MV that dropped that I saw on douyin and there were clips of Tian Rong's and LWB's romantic moments and marriage scene (with Mujia as the bridesmaid). I don't know if she got marry despite Old Li's objections or not so we will have to see. But it seems like LWB was really supportive in those clips I saw (helping Tian Rong with the houses, painting them together, ironing her clothes, etc.).

Lin Da haven't shown up yet as of episode 15 but he has some sort of relationship with Mujia based on a clip I saw of them arguing over investment/business.

I saw some clip with him in it and it seems like he has some business focused on the environment and Mujia was trying to help him with it (the clip was them arguing).

A super mature one too! And one fitting for a business man like him. He laid out all the facts and examples lmao.

Yeah, I don't think they will. In the novel, she was a mistress of Li Guang too lmao. He is already divorced here in the drama before they ever got together. Mujia also mentioned she doesn't like cheating/being the 3rd party since her dad was a cheater in the drama. They already changed quite a lot and this drama is airing on CCTV so more likely to be a happy ending.

I like how Mujia's and Tian Rong's family backgrounds shaped the way they are and careers they ended up having.

Mujia came from a single-family household with a cheating father who abandoned her. She had no choice but become independent and strong at an early age. Which explains why she was "thick-face" with trying to gain opportunities to get into the law firm. And why she is so straight-forward and able to call out BS like with Tian Rong's boyfriend quickly. She is very driven which is the personality type to be a lawyer.

Tian Rong came from a very loving home and she was the only child so she was treated like a gem in the family. Which explained why in the beginning, she might have gone with the flow because she didn't /need/ to be competitive. Though she also studied law, being a lawyer didn't suit her at all. Real estate though, it is perfect for her. Tian Rong is good at socializing and building relationships. Her breakup with Fan helped lit her motivation to actually focus on her career.

I really like how this drama ties everything together and all these relationship dynamics explain the characters' motives and actions.

He also mentioned how he "lowered/humbled" his character to be more on Mujia's level too because there is definitely a power dynamic between someone who has been a in business for so long and Mujia who is just becoming a lawyer. If he comes off as too pressuring, it comes off as predatory.

The novel is very tragic in a way (but also another type of realistic) so I am glad they made the changes that they did.

They are also called traffic stars, their acting skills might not be the best (most of them don't have acting background/formal training in acting or they were idols) but they generate tons of clicks due to the fanbases they have. They tend to do a lot of endorsements and their fans would spend tons of $$$ to make sure they are top on polls and whatnot. Having them in dramas kind of guaranteed views (but it doesn't mean the quality of the dramas are good) since they/production know they can get away with mediocre production/acting since fans will boost the drama anyway.

Updates from the C-side: More and more people are tuning into this drama via words of mouth. Youku even got the cast (Li Landi, Wang Yang, and Wang Ju) to do a livestream today/yesterday. Youku is known to be really bad at promoting good dramas especially ones without liuliang stars. So for them to even have a livestream now means they recognize the drama is gaining more and more attention.
