The novel is very tragic in a way (but also another type of realistic) so I am glad they made the changes that…
Yeah, I don't think they will. In the novel, she was a mistress of Li Guang too lmao. He is already divorced here in the drama before they ever got together. Mujia also mentioned she doesn't like cheating/being the 3rd party since her dad was a cheater in the drama. They already changed quite a lot and this drama is airing on CCTV so more likely to be a happy ending.
I like how Mujia's and Tian Rong's family backgrounds shaped the way they are and careers they ended up having.
Mujia came from a single-family household with a cheating father who abandoned her. She had no choice but become independent and strong at an early age. Which explains why she was "thick-face" with trying to gain opportunities to get into the law firm. And why she is so straight-forward and able to call out BS like with Tian Rong's boyfriend quickly. She is very driven which is the personality type to be a lawyer.
Tian Rong came from a very loving home and she was the only child so she was treated like a gem in the family. Which explained why in the beginning, she might have gone with the flow because she didn't /need/ to be competitive. Though she also studied law, being a lawyer didn't suit her at all. Real estate though, it is perfect for her. Tian Rong is good at socializing and building relationships. Her breakup with Fan helped lit her motivation to actually focus on her career.
I really like how this drama ties everything together and all these relationship dynamics explain the characters' motives and actions.
"Every crease grows...appropriately " Li Landi complementing Wang yang during fan meet 😍😍 She gets it. And…
He also mentioned how he "lowered/humbled" his character to be more on Mujia's level too because there is definitely a power dynamic between someone who has been a in business for so long and Mujia who is just becoming a lawyer. If he comes off as too pressuring, it comes off as predatory.
They are also called traffic stars, their acting skills might not be the best (most of them don't have acting background/formal training in acting or they were idols) but they generate tons of clicks due to the fanbases they have. They tend to do a lot of endorsements and their fans would spend tons of $$$ to make sure they are top on polls and whatnot. Having them in dramas kind of guaranteed views (but it doesn't mean the quality of the dramas are good) since they/production know they can get away with mediocre production/acting since fans will boost the drama anyway.
Updates from the C-side: More and more people are tuning into this drama via words of mouth. Youku even got the cast (Li Landi, Wang Yang, and Wang Ju) to do a livestream today/yesterday. Youku is known to be really bad at promoting good dramas especially ones without liuliang stars. So for them to even have a livestream now means they recognize the drama is gaining more and more attention.
Can someone tell me how's the drama? Especially the romance between Mujia and Li Guang... when did they meet and…
Yes, I really recommend it! All the relationships in this drama have value and something ppl can relate too. The career building of the 2 main FLs is a joy to see. This is one of those more realistic style type drama so there aren't those idol drama tropes.
Episode 14:Confession scene from Li Guang to Mujia. Li Guang revealed he was divorced and have had girlfriends…
Lmao yup, I like it since both are ambitious at the end of the day lmao. It is very realistic especially for someone like Li Guang, he didn't become a CEO/executive without being sly and taking advantages.
I don't think so lmao unless you got another clip. I saw the preview clip and I think from the implication, she stayed over somewhere with him for the night and she left in the morning and he called asking why you left without saying anything and she was like uh, it is not like we had a one nightstand, and he was like we are talking about feelings not one nightstand and accidentally hurt his foot LMAOOOOO.
Confession scene from Li Guang to Mujia. Li Guang revealed he was divorced and have had girlfriends too after the divorce. He understands a lot of things really depends on fate/flow of things, but he couldn't let go of Mujia. I am not going to go into much details here (better to watch the scene in full) but he basically spoke about the moments he felt warmed by Mujia, her smile, why he is attracted to her, him understanding her hesitation, his admiration for her as a person, etc.
Li Guang: "Li Mujia, I ask of you, consider me."
Oh gosh, so we found out Tian Rong mainly sold her house (but also to relieve the pressure on herself regarding that particular house) because she wanted to get the money right away to help pay Mujia back and help pay for Mujia's mom's surgery.
Mujia gave the money back to Tian Rong and told her about Li Guang's confession. Tian Rong basically: Get it?? 😂
Mujia's mom ready to leave the hospital and Mujia hid an envelope of money for her mom to use. But mom found out and hid the money back in Mujia's bag along with some savings she saved for Mujia telling Mujia to take care of herself/buy house for herself in Beijing since she plans to stay there for a long time.
Time passes and now everyone wants to buy a house and rents increasing since Beijing is becoming a more and more popular place. Tian Ring busy af.
Mujia wants to buy a house too, but her goal has always been to buy one at JLW (specific area in Beijing and very expensive). She doesn't have enough money + the houses in that area are too competitive.
Tian Rong managed to get back the house (which has even more value now) she was in the midst of selling to client Li and returned the original deposit to him to keep their good relationship.
Li Guang in NY finding investor for Li Ming Building Project and at the same time working on another project to attract investors to hopefully get them in the Li Ming Building Project too. We get confirmation here that him and Mujia had no contact after the confession.
Amazing scene here with Lawyer Wu. Reminder that Lawyer Wu is going through a divorce because her ex cheated. Her son is visiting the dad + the mistress for a day but then the son ended up staying overnight. Lawyer Wu was really upset, especially because the son wanted to stay over, and she heard him laughing on the phone with the mistress having fun. Lawyer Wu spoke about how unfair it was, they originally decided she did be the breadwinner while the ex would be the stay-at-home dad, she didn't even know he was cheating, etc. Mujia comforted Lawyer Wu.
Side plot: Chen Qing and her boyfriend and their rents increasing so gotta move. Landlord also locked them out, but Tian Rong saved the day.
Episode 15:
Li Guang has the law firm take his NY case, but he pressured them on the fee(?) (which means he somehow had insider info). Lawyer Wu directly asked Mujia about it since she knows Mujia and him might have something, but Mujia confirmed she would never do anything to harm the law firm, nor did she leak anything to Li Guang. Lawyer Wu then assigned Mujia to the case hoping that she can get a big break from this case. Mujia also learned a lesson here that yes, sometimes you gotta take whatever chance you get and don't care about what others might think (that she is using Li Guang's affection for her for this case, etc.).
Tian Rong officially sold that unsealed house of hers but tons of back and forth (funny too) with the buyers since they wanted to lower the price. Wan Bing upset for Tian Rong aw lol.
Tian Rong took the girls (Mujia and Chen Qing) out to celebrate and got drunk. They took her to stay at Chen Qing's place since it was close and the landlord saw Tian Rong and started arguing with them (she was thinking since Tian Rong and CQ knew each other, they were trying to scam her, etc.). Landlord also saw them swapped to a different fridge and demands for her fridge back or else she did kick them out.
Li Guang as a press con about the NY project. Oh wow he bold, he kinda added a line here saying how construction is like chasing after a girl you like, you can tell if they like you (hinting that he can tell Mujia IS interested in him).
Tian Rong shopping and overheard a woman wanting to sell her house from JLW (which is where Mujia wanted to buy) and managed to get the woman's number yay.
Li Guang's plan: use the project in NY (a Li Ming Building in NY) to earn/pay for the loss of the Beijing one to eventually get the project going again in Beijing. And Muija was also appointed to this case because she is a newbie, so she did slow down the discussion process which is what Li Guang wanted.
Omg so much chess playing/mind game here lmao.
Client Li noticed Wan Bing seems to have something going on with Tian Rong and indirectly told her don't get together with his son. Tian Rong lied and said she got a boyfriend back home.
FL starts off still with her boyfriend from college. ML is the endgame. Throughout the drama, there have been mentions of others interested in her but this is the business/work world after all so there won't really be scenes of some other love interest obviously chasing after the FL like most romance-type dramas for jealousy and whatnot (at least not at this point as of episode 15).
One interesting thing about this drama ppl on the C-side are pointing out too: They don't tell you explicitly that there are time jumps. This drama spans over 10 years but the drama is not doing the usual title card of "5 years later..." with obvious changes (hair growing longer, etc.).
People are noticing the years progressing based on the dialogues, TV news/house market news in the drama, and the phones the characters are using.
The characters were all using flip phones in the beginning which would be around 2007/2008, stock market crashed in 2008, Xiao Ding told Mujia's mom "they broke up for a long time", housing crisis (I don't know what year that would be in China but probably 2009-2010?), and the prices for Tian Rong's houses going up/down (which would coincide with how the housing market changes depending on what year). We also have Mujia going from intern, to lawyer assistant, to slowly becoming a lawyer.
The most obvious would be the phones. I saw the preview of episode 14-15 and Lawyer Wu was using a non-flip phone. But yeah, just keep in mind the years are passing throughout all of this, but it is not super explicit, and viewers have to pay attention to the details.
Now I understand why the breakup scene was trending. It was so sad, real and also beautifully performed. Had me…
Yup and so realistic too. They didn't break up over a third party and they did truly love each other. Xiao Ding was becoming more and more insecure, and he realized he can't walk the same pace as Mujia. Rather than holding on, it was better to let her go before his resentment became bigger than his love.
In the preview of next episode, Li Guang told Mujia that he is divorced and currently single. I am shocked but…
Yup! I think it works well since Mujia had Xiao Ding and you have Li Guang with his ex. Both loved someone to the point of marrying them/almost married them. Meaning they learned a lot from their previous relationships of love and separation. I think it also gives weight to Li Guang's character that he is not playing around, and he is actually serious about this potential relationship.
Ohhh, saw a clip from the preview of next episode about the ML that is kind of important since I feel like wow,…
In the preview of next episode, Li Guang told Mujia that he is divorced and currently single. I am shocked but also at the same time not?? It makes sense for his age but I didn't think the drama had the guts to state it outright. A lot of romance drama always make the MLs some hot virgin CEO or he played around/never serious until he met FLs. It has to do with the shipping culture of oh, FL is ML's one true love. I am actually pretty impressed by this.
Ohhh, saw a clip from the preview of next episode about the ML that is kind of important since I feel like wow, I don't think I have ever seen a C-romance drama that allowed the ML to have that type of character setting but it makes sense given his age (under spoiler):
