I agree with most of this except for two things:

It didn’t sound particularly like Tiemo has power factions, it sounds like they declare king whoever they think will let them survive the next winter but no one wants the job bc their land is so bad. Thus I’m not sure Cen Pickles would be working for a rival faction, or maybe just for faction #WorkingToEnsureStableTiemoEconomySoNoOneStarves.

I loved that ending special so much though I back 200% their very right choice for who’s on the throne. 🤩❤️

I dunno, it makes sense if he is alive to me.

1) He promised his sister he’d retire peacefully with a cat.
2) He was foretold he’d live till his hair turned white again. (He’s trying to force the prophesy with hair dye but that’s not how they work)
3) He closed the doors behind him but never barred them, and the force of the explosion blew them open. If he was standing close to the entrance he would be blown towards the exit while the king would have been blown further in, consumed by fire.
4) The overarching problem (there is not enough to eat for Tiemo) has not been resolved. Chang’an can spare food to fund a whole underground river city of refugees, it has more than it needs while Tiemo doesn’t have enough. Stealing food because you have none isn’t the right answer, but I’d back him sorting out the mess that is their nation.
5) He wants to live so he can keep remembering his family.

For me its plausible on all these levels if he didn’t die in the fire, but that the last of his vengeance burnt up instead since the masterminds who were involved in the betrayal and murder of his dad and family were finally all dead.

😂 Nah, for a less distinctive voice it could happen, but not his. Only he has that voice. It is such a beautiful voice. He is randomly in a locked room without a hair brush (or had one but that’s what happens to hair you don’t brush daily when it’s that long, it could have been a morning wake up call) but he’s alive, I will take it.)

How he lived is way more of a mystery given the boom but if YFS lived and only pretended to collapse like XHA did after the stab in the stomach, maybe YFS picked him up and got him out. 🙏 They can be a toad found family, both ooozing charisma and scheming while still caring about the nation 😭

To me they summed it up nicely in ep28— we are on the side of our people having enough to eat, you are on the side of your people having enough to eat, of course we will fight. This show was very good at showing how soft people were to those they cared about while at the same time how merciless they were/“what has that to do with me?” to those they didn’t. I backed the ML because you starving doesn’t automatically entitle you to my food, but at the same time I couldn’t hate the enemies either except for ones like Psycho Su.

Fitting if two snakes like each other lol. But it’s not inconsistent with his character all the way throughout he’s basically wanted as few responsibilities as possible while telling people what they want to hear and mainly being upset if others don’t like him.

Or he does but doesn’t care as long as he lives himself, just like he was happy drinking and only complained when YFS dragged him back to his day job. (lol I’m so mean to this guy, so mad at him lol.)

Agree with this 100%. He doesn’t care about what he did, he cares that he feels bad about it. To ask the parent whose kid was murdered to forgive him for stabbing his bro (who already forgave him, cuz he’s just that good of a big bro) suggests that what he wants is to get rid of his own guilty feelings, not to actually atone was how I read that kowtow. Consistent with his character but I hope he does not end up leading the nation.
