chung shin's scar signified something much more serious than a scar. it was a serious form of child abuse, with severe consequences for his future well-being. he was a survivor of catastrophic head injuries and head-to-toe bruising who felt the need to receive comfort from his abusive caregivers and employers. he had noone else. they hired him as their hitman and abused his trust

he's a nice person. he cares about kids and wants them to have the childhood he didn't have. he didn't let the spirits within himself or others mess with kids. i would have given chung shin a second chance to grow up in a better home

"... but i didn't turn out that way" or "... but so moon didn't turn out that way"

it's easy to compare them, isn't it? there are no standard response types to trauma. everyone differs in how often they experience traumatic events or how they respond to those events. so moon had his "grandparents." they always supported him. he grew up in a better home. who did chung shin and hyuk woo have? toxic "family" members who looked down on them? or toxic "friends" who wanted their money and power? they can't be compared like that

let's not put all the blame on chung shin and hyuk woo. their abusive "families" and "friends" were semi-responsible for how they turned out

i meant that i skipped their scenes as soon as they happened, especially in the last 3 episodes

did i say i skipped all their scenes? i saw so moon checking ha na out and introducing ha na as his "girlfriend." that wasn't funny. these scenes?

they were so funny that i didn't laugh. i didn't even include their hand-holding scenes. i mentally vomited and skipped their other scenes shortly afterwards

i skipped some of ha na and so moon scenes in season 1

an ordinary boy goes crazy over a girl, attains superhero abilities, goes crazy over a girl, finds out about spirits, goes crazy over a girl, trains, goes crazy over a girl, faces trials and tribulations, goes crazy over a girl, there is a climactic battle and then he ... goes crazy over a girl. yawns. the "romance" took all the fun out of the main genres. i don't want that in the 2nd season

exactly. adults care too much about what little kids may or may not do in the bedroom. they say teaching kids about diverse families and sexualities is "grooming." why isn't it grooming to teach boys about having "girlfriends" or girls about having "boyfriends?" they aren't ready to have crushes or get into a relationship. maybe you're right that some kids develop crushes, but aren't they overrepresented in shows? isn't it weird that their interactions are always sexualized? can't a boy and a girl just be friends?

i didn't have crushes as a little kid. i believe that kids don't develop "crushes." or that the "crushes" aren't "sexual." adults don't keep age in perspective. they project their experiences onto kids, and that's harmful

no, wi gen, you're the problem. you want to catch the spirits who broke out of hell to send them back. their ultimate fate is eternal punishment. you have the urge to hurt them for hurting others. you threaten to end the "lives" of the counters who disagree with you. that's vengeful. you can't have a problem with counters defending themselves or their families. they used their powers AFTER they were attacked. they had valid reasons! you expect them to sit still and watch themselves or their families get attacked? you're WORSE than the spirits!

yes, you would be. you have a broken "morality." fix that. when angry, you should let it out

ikr. and can we talk about how wickedly good kang ki young is at playing a "villain?"

in the 1st season, we learnt that spirits can't see the territory. season 2 is different. the spirits saw "dark lights rising from the ground." that's bad news for the counters

except for the poor visual effects (the obvious wires/ropes) and fetishized childhood friendships at the end of episode 2 (a 9 year old boy having the hots for a 7 year old girl he just met, seriously? let kids be kids), everything was great. the first 2 episodes wowed me

i don't like "superheroes." i like "villains" and pro-revenge themes that aren't paid lip-service to and conveniently forgotten in the heat of a battle

it’s taken as a given in fiction that "superheroes" are "moral," but their moral compass doesn't point in the right direction. "saving lives?" that's the last thing i'd want to do. people aren't worth it. the way so moon leered at ha na and introduced her as his "girlfriend" against her wishes? fucking creep. i'd have kicked him in the nuts. the "romance?" irrelevant sub-plot that overtook the more interesting main plot. raise your standards, ha na! and "he hurt innocent civilians?" most people aren't innocent. learn to control your emotions, gi ran!

what did i like here? the family dynamics. the troubled, mistreated, relatable characters that hong nae and won chang played. and the chemistry between hong nae, won chang, byeong kyu and joon sang

queen tae ri had more chemistry with bona in twenty-five twenty-one. i thought it's going to be a gl until a boy ruined it

"... all romance needs explicit declarations of love and physical consummation on screen to qualify is going too far"

and this isn't a broad, arbitrary understanding of "romance?" wherever we draw the line, it's going to be arbitrary

i believe a declaration is necessary. without it, the leads are just buddies throwing an afternoon espresso party

the times choi jun made eye contact, smiled, and leaned in closer to show lee jun that he's interested? the time hyun jae grabbed drinks with lee jun? and the staff said, "enjoy your relationship?" everything is less boring, thanks to the flirting and sexual tension

second episode is too early for a date or sex in the office. we'll get there

it's an open ending that can heavily imply anything. friend zones. break-ups. divorces. hong sae and san young met over a cup of espresso. hong sae asked san young how she is, implying that it's been a while since they met up. he told her that the grandma's case will be classified as a suicide, etc. where's the "romantic tension" or "romantic resolution?"

"heavily implied romantic tension" or "romantic resolution in the future" =/= "romance"

it's obvious that hong sae has "feelings." it's not obvious that san young does. whenever something happened, san young wasn't herself. the ghost had "feelings" for hong sae
