I do not understand Wenkan's character sometimes he is shown as soft and now cheating with Qi Min, and how is…
I think part of it is that in the drama they combined three different characters from the novel into one. So his actions and motivations seem a bit schizophrenic sometimes.

"Him doing this for decades" is actually a joke on its own, seeing how young the actor is looking, so…
At the start of the novel, she is 16 and he is 21. Here they say she is 19 which I suppose would make him 24.

I saw the trailer preview thing, but I don’t understand what he did to himself. I thought QM killed him.
I swear I have seen or read a plot like this somewhere, just for the life of me can't remember where.

Why? She is amazing.
I try to stay away from fandoms and just enjoy the dramas. I did once make what I thought was a very respectful comment on the acting skills of one of the famous Chinese male leads on Reddit (Reddit, not even any of the Chinese sites or mdl) and couldn't believe the amount of hate that I got within an hour or so (in fairness, the moderators took care of it very quickly). Never again!

I see. Well, it's ultimately more of a Fan Changyu-centered story so too bad. While I wish they had more episodes to not cut out some of the portions of the novel and defanged the ML a little less, TXY is doing a fantastic job (in fairness, so is ZLH). I hope this drama brings her the recognition she deserves.

Now that we are at the 3/4 point(🥲), I just really want to say that Xiao Tian really made the most of her role…
She is fantastic in this drama.

I don't understand why he want to kill yuan qing and the father? Such a psycho but handsome 🤣
This is not his father and he is responsible for the deaths of both of his parents.

No, they are extraordinary bad for this one. I ended up switching to Tencent.
Although in fairness Tencent isn't great either, they had a funny glitch today.

Is it clearly stated that he is renouncing his sect, where the door is open to interpretation?
I just realized that the stupid autocorrect messed my earlier comment up. I meant to say "they defanged the ML at the very end".

No worries :). It was not 100%, clear in the drama but it certainly looked liked he married into Luoyang valley as a matrilocal husband and handed his sect over to his deputies to manage. But then the whole ending was a bit of a mess. But at least it was a happy ending :).

I am sorry, I don't understand, did I say it was? In the drama, it clearly isn't and it was one of the things I did not like about the drama. Out of the blue, they def need the ML in the very end. It sort of makes narrative sense in the drama, but I don't have to like it. I much prefer the novel, where the characters stay true to themselves.

Totally agree! After all that work to reclaim his sect, MQY just gave up his sect to join CZ in the drama 🤦🏻‍♀️.…
Yes, exactly. It's so annoying when perfectly good source material is adapted in a nonsensical way. And they could have spent two minutes at the end showing us the future/their kid. Oh well, I will take what I can get, there were still many, many things about this drama that I liked and the cast did a great job!

For real....all that blood. And the final scene where her Qi Yunke bursted out streams of blood and died felt…
Seriously, I hated that. It was not like that in the novel. In the novel it is very clear that this is really the moment when she realizes that she can't be without him. By then, they all know that the master is evil and must be destroyed. And the master's last words are actually along the lines of "he is a good man, marry him".

Well, I am glad they at least stuck with the happy ending! The leads' chemistry was fantastic (even though Zhou Yi Ran was responsible for most of it) and for that I am willing to overlook a lot of the flaws. I just wish they stuck more with the novel ending and both the heartbreak and the humor of it, and not the sappy artsy stuff they did in the end (I mean, everybody singing, wtf even was that???). And as much as Mu Quingyan wanted peace, marrying into Luoyang valley and abdicating his responsibilities would be very out of character for him (although granted it makes more sense in the way the drama story was set up). But still, I enjoyed this very much.
