It's a great drama. Very refreshing to see a ML that has no combat skills and is not a prince or a general. Rather he is a strategist.
Love the FL as well. She is a widowed princess who is free-minded but still has to use cleverly navigate a patriachal society that just wants to use her as a pawn via marriage.

Also, to my utter surprise, MZY is killing it as MWY. She in her element in this role. This is the strongest performance I've seen from her. I believe her as MWY. Kudos to her. 👏 👏 👏 👏
It's been so long that I've seen a CDrama that actually took time to build characters, introduce the world and relationship dynamics. A drama that ultimately lets the story breathe. It's so rare and so refreshing. This is going to be a fun ride.

The pacing of this show is perfect. The character building and groundwork laid in these early episodes are what a lot of dramas/series lack these days. Love that the writers are taking time to tell this story.
I noticed a lot of viewers are surprised that Lanxiang did not include her husband in the list of people she mentioned I in episode 42. That's not surprising to me because at this point in her life, she is in a marriage for which she had no choice and as such has had to settle.
Does she love her husband? Yes. But it's a love that comes from accepting her fate and settling. She is not "in love" with him. She just has grown to appreciate him as her husband and father of he children. That's why this story is not a romance story.
The omission of her husband in that statement she made us not a mistake. It was very intentional. It tells us her decision regarding who she prioritizes in this life that was forced on her. Who she lives for is one thing she has control over and the people she listed are the people she has decided are important. The key thing here is that this is 'her decision'. Unlike the marriage and the life she was forced into.
This man actually went over Lanxiang's head once again and tried to use her parents to pressure her to go to the capital with him? Are you kidding me? 😐
So, will this always be his strategy when it comes to Lanxiang? If he is not able to get her to agree with him on something, he'll try to get somone else with influence over her (emperor, parents, friends etc) to do his job? The writing should better address this chracter trait becuase it's very toxic.

Listen, the ML does not deserve Lanxiang. There is no one on the show that they've shown deserves her. And yet, the ML gets her as his wife "by force". Because of that singular act of forcing her to marry him, I will always root for her to thrive and succeed.
I don't care what she does to him. He deserves it all. 🤷♀️
