I do not want to make this conversation about me or you. So won't explain unnecessary details. I completely disagree with what you think of 'intelligence', marketing strategy, impact, etc. And if you compare an article to a drama, I'll say, depends on an article and depends on a drama. There's an article you can judge quickly and there is even a drama you can judge quickly... People leave from a concert they don't like and can still judge it. So as you can see we think differently about many things.
You mentioned I deleted my comments? I did, but you are mistaken of the reasons... Sometimes you realize that you are discussing in vain...
You clearly are one of those rabid fangirls the OP was talking about. If you read everything instead of getting…
I didn't want to answer you before because it is painful for users to go online and see users attack each other. But now that the thread is long, I feel I should answer. I will not talk of the Drama because I can't discuss it with a viewer who hasn't watched it. I am writing because: One. You should not get personal when writing to someone. You should speak of the contents, not the person. Two. Or if you call speaking of cinematography being on a high horse, then I have no reason to get down... :) If people thought they don't see the good from bad, the concept of rating would not exist. Three. The problem is not that the Authors of the Article like or dislike the Drama. You can write a very intelligent article explaining that you do not like a drama, and noone will criticize your thought. But the Article here is putting everyone's intellectual capacities under question. Enough people explained it so I won't get into it again. It lacks thought, logic, every thought exressed contradicts with another... If you are writing an article not putting much thought into it (and as you can see, the authors explained later that they are two teens who wanted to do something cool and brought up a theory), then you should be prepared that people are going to criticize it. Because there are people who are serious about things they like and about their own selves.
The Authors managed to bring forward a theory and negate it themselves, twice.
1 ...Because of this effect, the show is backed by obsessive, rabid fangirls who work together as a mobile unit to top the drama lists and get certain actors from it trending. 2. “‘Rabid fangirl’ isn’t meant to be an insult and isn’t referring to the fanbase as a whole, just a few fans who are rather aggressive”
Basically, a few fans managed to work together as a 'mobile unit to top the drama lists and get certain actors from it trending? The logical conclusion is .... illogical...
I decided to write this because the authors invite people to read the article fully before answering. This is reasonable, but there is no need to generalize. I am sure, I was the only one who mentioned that she stopped reading 'WHEN THE POINT BECAME CLEAR'. I have been watching dramas for 10 years. The Korean Scarlet Heart came out in 2016, and there were already discussions that the more beautiful people in the cast, the more fans... And we all know what people think of boybands (this is another topic altogether). May be, the concept is new for some users, but not for me. The details about bands did not add any information. Even the phrase about 1st / 2nd leads was mentioned on mdl a few weeks ago... More importantly, I never replied to the Article because I was even a tiny bit offended by the expressions. And many didn't either. I answered because I disagree. It isn't that people didn't read the Article till the end, it's that, the disclaimers and notes didn't matter. (And yes, if you write something insulting and claim you do not want to disrespect, this does not work (for many at least)).
They did well to get back to everyone, but for me it doesn't change anything, because from the beginning, what I disagree with, is their "theory". Or rather, I do not even disagree. I think simply that the Article lacks Thought. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, as many said.
Oy this is a messConsider that what you have said boils down to: women only like things because there are hot…
It's a mess for many reasons: logic, knowledge, judgement... I want to leave this alone but I can't... I was thinking that the Producer of the Untamed, if she, by some miracle, could read this Article. I think the effect would be: 'Why on earth didn't I think of this? Why did I purchase an original Work, and work on a scenario for more than 2 years and write different versions of it, spent more than 2 years on a pre-production... Why did we build all these sets, and who cares about such trivial things as aesthetics or music? All I had to do is to engage some handsome faces as they do in the boybands and it would work as a charm. And why have a marketing team. There is no need to be a strategist to hire pretty faces. And, next time, let's not spend money on auditions either to check if they suit the role or have talent... Who's going to care or understand? We can also just change the characters of the original source next time so that the number and the freatures of the characters fit this simple marketing strategy...
did you bother reading the end points? -----go scroll up if you haven't please. “Rabid fangirl” isn’t meant…
I forgot to mention that viewers are rewatching this drama several times straight... God... how good looking the whole cast should be so that people watch several times a 50 episode drama, then watch the other adaptations and read a 1000 page book:) Critics also praise different aspects, but what do they know? They think because the drama addresses topics as chivalry or modern values, it touched a chord globally, but who cares about chivalry or courage, or about what they say:)? People celebrate the anniversaries of the main Heroes (this can hardly be said about any drama or even a book), or the drama anniversary, but this is just a detail... Viewers are having a hard time to watch other dramas afterwards or feel satisfaction when they do, but this doesn't mean anything either (I guess there aren't as many handsome actors in other dramas, that's why:)), the drama received so many awards (including for its characters!) that the pages stopped updating the list, but what do the professionals know? The marketing director would also learn something about strategy today if he used MDL... Anyway, believe me, I made myself laugh too:)
did you bother reading the end points? -----go scroll up if you haven't please. “Rabid fangirl” isn’t meant…
I'd go further and say that not only this is an insult or disrespectful to the fans that like untamed, or rate high or whatever, but to ALL fans in general including the ones who agree with it. Because, if we are accepting that one drama on mdl is rated high because of this or that, then the 2nd, 3rd, 4th dramas and all the dramas are rated with the same criteria. Aren't it the same fans watching and rating all the dramas? So why is My Mister (just an example amongst many) a highly rated drama again?
The only pattern, or syndrom, I can see here actually is in the approach and mentality of the authors of the article. But, please note that I do not mean it as an insult:)
did you bother reading the end points? -----go scroll up if you haven't please. “Rabid fangirl” isn’t meant…
On one hand you are defending the author (even though I don't see how, because you can also call a person an idiot telling you do not want to offend them), but at the same time, you are making the author's opinion completely invalid, because if this is about 'a few people', then we cannot explain the success of a drama with it. In any case, are you just starting to watch the drama? May be it is better to watch till the end, and then you will tell why you yourself as a viewer liked or disliked it.
I have a question. Has anyone here seen a asian drama with ugly actors? Name one. So shouldn't they all have the same global success? Something to think about...
I have to say I didn't read everything, I read the beginning and stopped when the point became clear to me... No need to be a psychologist... Asian drama is full of handsome actors and yet, 'handsome actors' or the number of the 'handsome actors' in a drama do not make its quality and not all dramas are equally successful. A band is a band, cinema is cinema, and to compare both, means to really not understand how how one is different from another (andspeaking of boybands, there is a lot to tell, but I won't get into the topic)... Many would call Song Joong Ki handsome. But should I have just watched Arthdal, I wouldn't have noticed him (even though I really loved him in Innocent man or Sunkgkyunkwan scandal)... There is no such thing as a handsome actor for me, there is 'a good actor', 'a talented actor' or not... And then only you can see if the actor is handsome... The reason this Drama is successful is because of the Cinematography, Aesthetics, Original Plot, the Soundtrack, the Actors (and it is the Acting I am talking about), the Characters (the list is long) Even if it feels strange to bring arguments like this one, but to speak the same language with the authors,..., the ones being followed after the drama are the 2 leads. Boyband? Rather, a duet then... :) ? I really do not like it when someone thinks that people are idiots (sorry) not knowing good cinema from a bad one, and that the success of a movie depends (or is amplified) on how good looking the Actors are, or on 'how many good looking actors are there in it.. You should SEE when you see a good drama and if you want to judge about a drama, you should also listen to the people to understand what they like about it, that could also give some idea (there are more than ten thousand comments on the drama's page).
If there are users that have not seen it yet. Here's what I'll recommend. Watch it and you might know in the end, why others love it!
So apparently there is a Novel , a Manhwa , an Anime and a live-action drama varsion available of this story....I'm…
I can see you got the answers already on the Untamed page. As to whether you should watch the 50 episode version first or 20 episode version, I am going to recommend the 50 episode original version. However, if you think it is long (you are going to ask for more in the end:)), you can watch this version 1st. In any case, if you end up loving it, you are bound to watch both!
I would recommend reading the novel without reading guides (they contain spoilers, interpretations that are too…
I don't know if your message was for the person who posted the initial message or if my message was misunderstood. I was recommending reading the translation on exiledrebels if the fan added texts of his own or from fandom to this "edited version". (I haven't read this version).
Is The Untamed Special Edition have extra scene or just the same parts as the original one but only cut the scene…
It has some new scenes, some of the scenes are 'edited' differently (closer shots for example, a longer scene...). Because of these, they might give a different feeling. Each episode has a title (this is not the case with the longer version). In any case, I recommend watchers to watch both versions, starting from the Original. Or if someone watches the special edition first and ends up loving the drama, then I recommend watching the Original next (There are some scenes in the Original that cannot be missed...)
Here's the better translation of the novel: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12oPAKMN0BmLReDSml26x3SongHVg72Xr/view
I would recommend reading the novel without reading guides (they contain spoilers, interpretations that are too 'simple', and there are things that each reader should interpret by himself/herself). And if there are additions to the core of the text, (it is written on the first page that this is an 'fan edited version' of the one on exiledrebels with some additions from wiki/fandom, etc...) it is better to read the Author's text without any additions...
Here's the better translation of the novel: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12oPAKMN0BmLReDSml26x3SongHVg72Xr/view
It is written on the 1st page of this translation that this is an 'fan edited' version of an already existing translation (the one on Exiledrebels, the one that that most of us have read). And the fan who edited it added information from wiki/fandom/his own (this is also mentioned on the first page). Since there are 'additions', I recommend going directly to the Exiledrebels page and reading that version of the translation. The fan added some guides in the beginning containing interpretations that are too 'simple', spoilers, wrong from my point of view, information. You can always check the 'fandom' information after you have read the Novel. I do not doubt the good intentions of the fan who edited it, but I like reading the Author's text and not the translator's and I like understanding /interpreting a novel by myself. Unfortunately, I am telling this without knowing how much of the text is the author's or the translator's own, since I haven't read this translation.
Was your comment about the genre necessary? Write your own review about the mischaracterization of bromance, boy…
One of the recommendations about using social media : never engage in a fight:) And using all the features of a site is good too, like for example this great feature called "blocking"...
I read the beginning for now to read the rest later. I will have to correct you on one information about the Novel. The genre of the Novel is NOT Lgbt (in fact, there is no such genre). MDZS is a Romance and Fantasy (with a few 18+ chapters towards the end).
