Another drama with great potential & amazing first half that completely crashed & burned in the second half! Seriously, HOW COULD THEY RUIN THIS SO FREAKING MUCH! Also, they did my man Kwak Si Yang SO DIRTY with that lazy-ass writing! He hard carried half the emotions in this drama in the few scenes he got & the only one who could actually match Joo won's acting intensity but the writer really didn't care enough for him. I was so sick of all these characters by the end that I didn't even bother thinking about the plot holes & the stupid illogical ending! JUSTICE FOR JOO WON & KWAK SI YANG! GIVE THEM BETTER STORIES!
I just cannot read the introduction & I advise you to not read it too. It is far too long anyway! Just watch the first two episodes & decide if you want to continue or not. Many times, it is better to go into a drama blind like me. I loved the first episode & I'm so excited to see Kwon sang woo back in his groove after his hilarious performance in "Accidental Detective" (Watch it if you haven't!) Let's hope the drama stays good till the end!
IA BTW!! I assume for KSY that it was a big deal for him to be signed onto this drama with great actors, who've…
I completely agree with you! There is no doubt that Choi jin hyuk completely stole the show in "Tunnel" but the writer didn't use that to reduce the SML's plot. He was as involved in the story as the Male lead and perhaps that is why "Tunnel" is so memorable-not just because of Jin hyuk's great acting but also the equal story line & development devoted to our main characters. I really wish Min hyuk gets that here! I mean not only is he an interesting character to explore but the way Kwak si yang plays him with so much restrain & hurt really makes me that much curious to know how he got to this point! LET'S PRAY FOR MIN HYUK TO GET MORE STORYTIME IN THE COMING WEEKS!
I am SO EXCITED for this one! Moon so ri is a freaking legend and Jang yoo sang is seriouslly underrated as an actor. I hope more people watch this & appreciate his acting!
This was probably the weakest one so far out of all the aired ones story-wise. If you've seen Black Mirror then you'll instantly recognise the story they based this on which is why it doesn't strike as much because it was already done really well in BM. However, Siwon & Uee look really good together and have good chemistry, so I hope they are cast together in another drama.
P.S. I'm hella excited for the last episode! That preview was freaking AMAZING!
Ok...Episode 4 was the BEST so far and it was not because of the topic or their guesses! The MVP of this episode was undoubtedly Actor Lee Sang Yoon! i don't follow his dramas but man is he mysterious! His responses or lack thereof really brought out all the laughter! He was so funny without even trying & cast enjoyed this one the most because of him. Even the editing they did for him made me laugh!
THAT'S IT! I AM SO DONE WITH JUNG KYUNG! She has literally no way to redeem herself now. The way she continues to hurt & manipulate people around her & is willing to go to any lengths to get her way no matter what the consequences others will face because of her actions has just gone way too far to be forgiven!
I really tried to empathise with her situation, making up excuses for her behaviour much like her friends in this drama - she lost her mother & that affected her, her grandmother is manipulative so maybe being rude is her defense mechanism, she is being forced to work for the foundation so maybe that's affecting her etc. I & her friends in the series have given her way too much leeway to act according to her wishes because we empathise with her but after seeing all her actions & hurtful words over the past few episodes, I can't help but wonder - Does she even deserve it? Because it is not just Song ah who she tries to demean, corner & manipulate to get her way with Joon young cause' I can write that up to her being jealous. What REALLY INFURIATES ME is that she does the same thing to her friends who she has known for 15 freaking years! I mean how the hell can you justify your actions that have hurt two people who care for & love you the most in this world, even going out of their way hurting themselves just to make sure you are comfortable & feel loved?! How do you look them in the eyes & tell blatant lies?! How the hell do you demean them & mock their feelings?!
Forget about being a friend, at this point I just hope that she learns how to act like a decent human being! Just like Joon young said in the earlier episodes, she made her choice & Joon young had to live with that for 15 years. So she has no right to go back on her words now when it seems convenient, then cry & even stop others from making their own choices, moving on & being happy with someone else. Literally EVERYONE around her deserves to be free from this toxic behaviour - especially Hyun ho who has been such a devoted loving boyfriend to her for 15 years. I mean she really broke him this episode and when he was crying, I cried too because I could feel his pain & agony. Jung kyung didn't just break up with him, she broke his heart, hurt his pride & then even took away his cherished friendship with Joon young. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED THIS WAY! NO ONE!
I wonder if the actors actually know before signing up that their characters will be underutilized so much? Like…
I assume that they have to right? But I also know a lot of actors sign up just because of the director involved or other actors without looking at the script which I honestly don't agree with but it is a big reality in the kdrama scene. However, I don't think Joo won would have done that mistake. Maybe the writers messed up everything after the actors were signed on? Anyway, I hope they salvage the rest of the story...FAST!
Episode 6 really showed the worst of the people around our lead duo! My take on episode 6 below:
Somehow, I feel even worse for Joon young as if that is even possible! First off, his parents are leeching off of him & have been for many years like...he can not even breathe without always thinking about making money, not for himself but for his parents! The fact that he always sighs & dreads whenever he receives his mom's calls just shows you how messed up his life has been so far because he knows the call is not going to be about him because it never has been! He knows that with the people around him, it is always about the next paycheck they can get, the next favor they can ask or the next performance they can rope him in for. There is no space for any side of him, neither as the son nor as the friend except the Pianist who can make money & get recognition for the foundation!
That scene at the hospital really hit me where Joon young finally gets to know that not only has his mother forced money out of him for 15 years but they have been doing the same thing with the Chairman as well while his own father does not earn a damn penny? The fact that Jung kyung knew & NEVER told him? The fact that they all did this behind his back for 15 freaking years? The realization that HE WILL NEVER BE FREE because of this? UGh...IT WAS TOO MUCH! Even for me. I'm furious at these people! How can they use him whenever they want but don't even have the basic decency & respect to let him make his own decisions?! And then you have his friends - Hyun ho who is still desperately holding onto Jung kyung, for what reason I really don't get! and Jung kyung who is even worse breaking Hyun ho's heart & putting him down every chance she gets, deliberately breaking up the trio that she KNOWS will affect Joon young & Hyun ho's friendship, cornering Song ah to not approach Joon young and even confusing Joon young by leaving that damn note in his house! Like WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER? Even worse is that she keeps playing the victim in all these cases, crying like she is the one who is hurting when really, she has caused all of this mess by being dishonest & manipulating people around her from the beginning!
And then there is Song ah, my heart broke for her this week. She is trying so hard to make Joon young open up to her but he always has his walls up. And then after being cornered by Jung kyung & all the misunderstandings it caused simply because Joon young didn't talk to her, all of her insecurities piled up. That scene where she told him that they shouldn't be friends & he apologized, the look in her eyes as she thinks that's not what she wanted to hear was so genuine...I WAS CRYING! And that last scene where she does confess...my god I cried a river!!
We're half way through this drama & my man Min hyuk STILL has no backstory!!! like WHY?! HOW?! He is literally one of the most interesting characters who is making the MOST sense out of all of these characters so far and he just doesn't get enough scenes! The only time we do see him is when he is needed to further Tae yi's storyline in some way or to fight with Jin gyeom or BOTH but we NEVER see him in standalone scenes that allow us to understand his emotions & motivations. Like why would you take Kwak si yang, who is literally KILLING IT in every scene he is in & then NOT GIVE HIM A PROPER BACKSTORY?! Even Do yeon has more lines than him!
Episode 1 Tae yi had so much personality & sense than basically every other version/look-alike of her in any dimension! It is almost like Tae yi was so badass in those first episodes that they felt like they had to water that down & change it to make unnecessary nagging & multiple bad decisions a huge part of her character which was honestly not needed..AT ALL! Can we please bring the mature but badass Tae yi from Episode 1 back? And for God's sake, please JUST STOP WITH THE CREEPY AF ROMANCE! In fact, chuck the romance plot out the window completely! If there is ANY man that can logically be the romantic interest, it is my man MIN HYUK!
Lee si young & Ha joon - CAST THESE TWO IN A DRAMA TOGETHER! NOW!! They had such an esay going, fun & sassy chemistry and I absolutely loved that ending shot...so sweet! The story was good too, not the best in this series but these two definitely made it work. Overall, a good watch.
P.S. Lee si young is complete body goals! like her abs were perfect! Share your workout routine Ms. Young!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! Seriously go & watch this! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It has one of the most beautiful stories that perfectly captures that warm feeling of falling for someone & finally being able to breathe...LITERALLY! Kim Bo Ra & Choi Seung Eun completely embodied their roles & I was so in love watching them on screen. More than words, it is the secret glances, the longing looks & the complete comfort that they felt with each other that really showed you everything you needed to know! Beautiful! The emotions were so strong in this & they managed to make me cry in just a single episode! Imagine these two in full fledged drama together?! sigh...if only South Korea would wake up & see the beauty in all kinds of love.
My top 3 from SF8 so far: 1. Joan's Galaxy 2. White Crow 3. Manxin
- The story was good, not too complex but still interesting - Lee yeon hee was such a badass in this & so hot with that complete Biker girl look! Two thumbs up! - I LOVED Lee yeon hee in this role despite not being a fan of her other works. I guess this character was just perfect for her. - The unlikely duo that just clicked together! I would never imagine these two actors in the same series but they actually worked really well together! And I'M SO HAPPY that they didn't force any unnecessary romance in this! THANK GOD FOR THAT! - The ending was quite good
Overall, this is not the best episode of the series but it is still a pretty good episode. So, do watch it!
First off, kudos to Hani for pulling off such an amazing performance! That scene where we find out that Ah young is the real her & then she smirks, Damn! I got chills! Also, I hated this character! In the beginning, you sense that she must have some sort of pride/ego issues because of her expressions & her entitled conversations with the people around her but you still don't know the reality. When she goes to the game studio, you feel a little bad for her because that's how pretentious everyone is around her! They hate her, badmouth her and ridicule her without even knowing her! This rings so true for most celebrities so that's depicted really well here.
However, the real devastation comes when the game starts. I was shook when I found out the she was the real bully! She first befriended the real Juno - the kind, smart girl who happens to come from a rich family and considers Ah young her dear friend - and then out of jealousy, first copies everything she does & then just pushes her further into the dark by spreading lies about her everywhere. And now, when she is given a chance to save her life by apologising to Juno & admitting that she isn't the real Juno , she STILL LIES! That scene where the real Juno begs her to tell her the truth & she still says that she never lied, you can really see the hopelessness in Juno's eyes & then she falls to her death. That just shows how EVIL this character is! Despite this not being real, she refuses to own up to her wrongdoings; despite knowing that she has a chance to save her friend, she lies & basically pushes her to her death. Because she never really considered Juno her friend! Juno was just the rich girl everyone liked & Ah young so badly wanted that for herself that she literally became the devil!
And perhaps, after Juno's death, the reality hit her so hard that she completely suppressed that memory & instead started living as Juno because there was no way to remember all that she did & then go on with her life as Ah young like nothing had happened. Even in the end, you can see that this character has learned nothing because she chooses to die as a martyr than wake up and admit that she was the devil & apologise for her mistakes! UGH...SAD AF!
P.S. I'm hella excited for the last episode! That preview was freaking AMAZING!
And I guessed it right this time! YAYYY!!!
