Couldn't even make it through the first episode...😓😓😓 this is no Hospital Playlist. Sorry.
Well, the point wasn't for it to be like HP to begin with...Otherwise, we'd call it HP S3 instead of RP.
Unlike HP, where the characters already have their lives, careers, and friendships pretty much set and are already in their 40s, dealing with struggles through the comfort of familiarity, RP is all about fresh new starts of genz people in their late 20s who are just beginning their new life as residents in the hospital. And yes with lots of mistakes and lessons learned along the way...Cause they are still figuring things out as they try to carve out a way for themselves in an entirely new environment while also trying to build new friendships.
So yes this is certainly different but ofc still sharing a similar outline, which is both being medical slice of life kdramas with engaging patient cases and depictions of slow burn romances and friendship along the way.
But the characters of the friend group and their dynamics do differ to an extent, as most spin-offs do...
I will admit though as an observation while watching this myself, that ep1 wasn't the strongest opening and some might find FL annoying but after ep2 it just kept getting better and better! (but still with a different "flavor" than HP)

I love that more of the residents backstories were filled in during episode 8. When I started watching the first…
Same here! This ep felt so rewarding and informative! It was thoroungly packed and we got to learn more things about all of the residents! I also can't believe we only have 4 eps left TT
I will really miss this...I hope they will see the good results and push for a S2!

Best episode of the show so far
Same here! After episodes 5 - 6 I really thought those would be my favorites but wow episode 8 completely blew me away. Definitely the best one yet!

Idk about the PD-nim’s favorite ep, but for me ep 8 is hands-down my favorite so far! I loved how we got to see more of all our residents this time. From the moment Sabi fainted and went into surgery, the episode started off strong and it just kept delivering scene after scene!

Honestly, this might be one of the most eventful episodes yet. I especially enjoyed Jaeil’s little ā€œdateā€ with his first love who turned out to be none other than Doc Gyeoul from HP haha. Also, I had already noticed the similarities between Sabi and Gyeoul since episode 1 even before the show hinted at it. So Jaeil definitely seems to have a type ><
And speaking of Jaeil and Sabi… it finally feels like their ship is setting sail! I’m so excited to see how their relationship unfolds over the next four episodes.

The part that hit me the hardest emotionally though, was definitely Nam Gyeong’s scene with her mom for me. Their dynamic really reminded me of my own relationship with my mother, and it just got me right in the feels I actually cried and it made me appreciate and want to show my care more.

As always, the patient cases were thought-provoking and meaningful. And on the lighter side, watching Sabi wander around in her hospital gown, checking charts because she was bored, was definitely the funniest part of today's ep for me!

Oh, and I’m really happy to see Dowon stepping up and becoming more proactive in these last two of eps! Loving his growth! ><

Whats makes you all think Do won hadn't started realising how he feels..inviting her for dinner... smiling happily…
Oh, definitely! The shift in DoWon’s behavior this episode was so obvious. He’s starting to like Yiyoung more openly now and you can really see him taking those baby steps whether he realizes it or not. I honestly think the arrival of the new doctor is just going to push things forward even faster. It’s the classic ā€œrival wakes up the lead’s feelingsā€ move and I’m totally here for it if it means DoWon finally gives in and lets their relationship sail~

Looks like everyone is hating on the anesthesiologist. Its pretty clear that he is there was 1-2 eps max. Dowon…
I totally agree with the anesthesiologist part! As for Dowon, yeah this will definitely work as a catalyst but saying "try to make I Young like him again" sounds kinda wrong since in my opinion, she never stopped liking him ever since >< Even though the new doc could be a test for them both! I am so happy to see Nam Gyeong getting some closure as well and her relationship with the intern was so cute and funny in this ep fr!

I guess the new doc be taking Ahn Chi Hong's place in the spin off. Right?
Yep looks like it even though I think Ahn Chi Hong had more of a presence in the series compared to this doc here suddenly appearing and already going for it lol Even though I do get that this is only for us viewers who weren't introduced early to him but he always"existed" in RP and obv has interacted with YY and the rest already!
Btw I've noticed that RP does this more than HP, maybe due to the 1 season limit but they seem to not pick up exactly where they leave every ep and sometimes not everything is shown to the viewers and we might end up only seeing the result of certain scenes!
On Resident Playbook May 3, 2025
Btw just watched the preview and tomorrow’s episode looks so packed! We’ve got the whole DoWon/Yiyoung/new doc situation heating up, Nam Gyeong’s mom being admitted to the hospital, and Sabi suddenly fainting?? Like, omg I seriously can’t wait! I just hope nothing too sad or serious happens… I need some wholesome energy right now 😭

Why are people calling the anesthesiologist SML when he’s been here for two seconds?
Exactly my point lmao He is literally just a passerby that just made his entrance to help Dowon (aka our ML) take the next step forward because he obviously needed a push ><
On Resident Playbook May 3, 2025
Just finished today’s episode, and some of y’all seriously need to calm down about the new doc’s appearance! Based on the cast list alone, he’s neither a main character nor even one of the major supporting ones. He was introduced after the halfway point of the series and to me it’s pretty obvious he’s only there to push the Yiyoung and DoWon romance forward, basically to get DoWon to stop being indecisive and finally make a move. Classic clichĆ© honestly šŸ˜‚
I really do hope though that this short-lived love triangle wraps up by the next episode so it doesn’t drag on. With only 4 eps left, I’d rather they focus on developing Yiyoung and DoWon’s relationship properly and give more focus on the other main cast too instead!
Because from what I’ve seen in interviews, Jaeil is supposed to have a love line with one of the other two girls (my guess is Sabi) so I hope we start seeing more hints of that! And am I the only one who thought Nam Gyeong’s moments with the intern were kinda cute in today's episode? ><

1.meng zi2.all died in anime only ml is alive
Basically FSM trilogy is based on a popular game and it first got adapted into donghua and now into this cdrama trilogy! So donghua fans know already what happens...And in LIP based on spoilers onlt ML and his son survive from the important characters (like FL and her sister, the whole mask squad etc.)

Really can't believe I'm seeing all famous actors/actresses in China in one Drama.. This is epic šŸ”„every single…
I’m pretty sure this also has to do with the fact that FSM franchise was filmed back in late 2022 - early 2023. That was around the time many of today’s rising stars started gaining recognition through their works airing and began landing more lead roles in C-dramas that aired over the last 2–3 years. That’s probably why so many of the supporting and guest stars in this drama feel familiar now!
Also, since this is a major IP adaptation ofa popular game series, it likely seemed like a great opportunity at the time for up-and-coming actors to gain more exposure. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by how many recognizable faces appeared here like you! It’s great to see them thriving now in their own series!
Oh and another reason we probably recognize so many of them might be because certain actors tend to focus on specific genres. Some appear more frequently in modern dramas, while others are more often seen in fantasy/historical settings. And with idol dramas like this one, it's usually younger rising actors who are cast, since the roles often require that youthful energy. And later as they mature and establish themselves in the industry, they often branch out more into different genres.

yes, The senior of DHZ is on FSMM1 and WQHY is on all 3 series but different actors
Oh idk about them...Maybe they will survive if they stay out of the storm and continue their quiet life in the woods...I just know that FL & every member of the mask squad except ML will die...FL's friend and her kid are kind of minor characters, so they might survive?

wonder how a righteous person like hongye who fight will all his will to save the world become a cruel father…
Hmm maybe his wife dying while giving birth and losing almost all of his friends and family broke and twisted him beyond return...However, I didn't know he would be a cruel father to his son in S3, that's sad... 😢

Yeah sadly no, it doesn't look good for our squad TT This drama has really started to remind me of Fangs of Fortune in that aspect sigh...

Guys as someone who has dropped RMP but still knows a few things from watching the first eps I have some questions...Don't these new netherworld demon lord and the black demon fox also appear as villains on RMP hunting down Yuechu (DHZ's nephew)??
And if so is it because both FL and Yunchae have the divine blood?? Here the netherworld demon lord said that he wants to use FL as a vessel body for the black demon fox who lacks one and that she was the most compatible...

How is it so far??Is it as bad as Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact or better?? No problem with spoiler.
Personally, I found it much better than RMP but I wouldn’t recommend going in with too high expectations. Just watch it with an open mind and you’ll likely enjoy it! While I did notice some issues with the script and editing for example on a particular arc so far, the overall composition, acting, and CGI were handled far more effectively here overall.
