I let this sit for a while and just finished episode 10. I have to say, I absolutely LOVE how they wrapped up the episode with Han Yan’s narration, hinting and building up our expectations at what's to come when the new year arrives, accompanied by shots of the characters! It really felt like a perfect conclusion to one arc before diving into the next! And in fact, with these first 10 episodes making up a third of the drama, and so much happening and concluding, it genuinely felt like the end of a volume. Now I’m curious to see if they’ll do something similar around episode 20.
Btw so far I am very much enjoying this as a whole ~

Actually it was those moments when he kept insisting on protecting her that really made me suspicious. After understanding the full extent of her powers and seeing how he acted, I couldn't help but wonder, "What if she manipulated his memories back at the training facility?" By the end of episode 5, with him completely losing it to stop her and saying it was his job to protect her, I was already convinced there was more going on, and episode 6 confirmed it.

What really makes me think she might have hacked everyone's memories is that last scene, where they all look at her strangely, almost as if they're being controlled, and the final words from her "mother" over the phone. (Ofc another scenario and twist would be if the "mother" was somehow monitoring her through them like spying on her through their minds? After all we never learned about the "mother's" power if she had any but since she run the whole facility i except her to have one).

That said, I also believe the mother truly came to love this family. If that weren't the case, she wouldn't have risked herself to save the father or cried while holding him. She might even feel some guilt and sadness about brainwashing him, as you mentioned. And the way she cared for the kids all these years, like they were really her own, shows that. When the "pastor" tried to hurt them, she was like a lioness protecting her cubs. We even saw how far she would go for them, like when she hurt herself to protect her daughter in the photobooth in the flashback.

Honestly I think the mother back in the facility just used her power on them in order to help her escape and later on for them to create this family whether consciously or not. But over time, she forgot she did to all of them because she just wanted to escape that nightmare and feel actual familial bonding instead of what her "mother" gave her...Which was just trauma and pain.

So far, the mother's powers seem to be the strongest of all the "special children" raised in that facility. As we saw in the flashback, even her "mother" couldn't control her. That's probably why she just followed her from afar, never letting her go. I'm really curious to see where they take this in season 2, especially with what the "mother" meant with her final words and how our main character will respond back.
And no need for the apology since I am someone who loves to talk about the dramas i finished as well^^

By the way, initially, even before the finale, it was only implied that the mother brainwashed the father back when they were teens together in the "training facility," but in the final ep it was implied that she brainwashed every family member to create this family...Did she do that to cope with the environment and have people with her as company in her "escape journey"? But seeing her shocked expression, she might have forgotten about it herself? Also, why was her "mother" letting her do that all these years, since she knew her every move? And what is her "mother's" power to run this training facility....?

Damn this show was intense and full of riddles from start to end! If you are fine with gore/violence with a pinch of comedy and family bonding, this is for you~ I am glad there is a Season 2 though, since many things were left unfinished! If anything, to me these 6 eps felt like just the opening!

The alpaca ep was definitely one of my fave so far!

I guess so? It doesn't sound too crazy of a plotline compared to the other plots we got in this script lol

I am sorry for not being able to take you seriously with the way you speak 🤣
I am not even hating here...I am just mentioning some flaws I didn't like in the script the scriptwriters wrote...Hate is a heavy word and definitely not one that I would throw around casually...Anyway I have yet to finish this drama and if anything I am trying to understand them all the while criticise their actions as subjectivly as I can.
But you calling me a hater doesn't personally affect me, as long as I have cleared my stance, so you do you i guess.

If she sternly rejected him and said she is to move abroad he would have a broken heart but he wouldn't be as traumatised at least and could move on easier(even after the og plot he moved on after couple eps).
And especially because it is his first love which makes it already hard to forget, by killing her off in front of him made it even more unforgettable... It's not like he would leave everything behind and ask to move with her especially if she firmly rejected his feelings before "leaving"...As much as naive in love he was he didn't give off obsessed vibes to me, he seems like a person with morals and reason who wouldn't forcefully push his way... It's just the FL who couldn't face him head on and thus found these alternatives...

I am usually one and yet here it wasn't even a major one lol If anything I found the whole thing funny at times and sure a bit frustrating but bearable since the overal plot was so worth it! Also it didn't last many eps...
So I say give it a try guys and see for yourselves ^^

Honestly i totally get you since I have dropped most of the other dramas she acted in because of her being the FL...But this one here was the only one I managed to finish as a whole lol So I think it was a bit better for me here and the actual biggest issue in this drama were not the leads but the plot. Like the scriptwriters did them ditty...

Exactly what i was thinking as well! Why not have her leave the country cause of her work? It could work all the same since they only knew eo for a month...Plus with her "leaving" that way makes it all the more traumatic and memorable, so even more difficult for him to forget her...So when FL kept asking in the next eps ”Still can't forget her?" She sounded so dumb to me and also kinda insensitive...
Actually looking at spoilers it's not very soon I hward they become a couple around ep25 so we still got furure lol

Currently on ep 7 and I hate how dirty they did poor ML here...Even if his love for her was only for 1 month and mostly "superficial" this was his first love and having her "die" in front of him must have left quite a big scar for him...It's really not ethical or funny IMO.
And sure he did act a bit like a jerk and had a blunt personality at the start with FL in her true form but most were actually caused by misunderstandings lol

So you think FL's father who is the head of the family had/has no knowledge of his concubine's actions and schemes or his daughter's hardships in the countryside?? He is just a well 2 faced snake that never lets his mask fall off (at least so far)...Even though we did get to see a bit of his true cruel face on ep6 with FL's mother's backstory and how she came to marry him.
As for ML as of ep10 that I have watched we really know a few things about him and his backstory...Which I hope will change in the upcoming eps.

True and that's my concern as well...I hope they can just keep the current quality of the script and don't have to resort to rushing things later...

I really hope they will soon cause so far he is really not giving much and he is just there when needed and the shoved to the side again...And with the romance still not progressing much, he really comes off a bit flat so far...We really need to see more of him and to help us that way understand him better. I mean with only 30 eps on the table I was expecting his story to have been shown to a level at least by now.

Currently on ep10 and the FL has had more chemi with Chai Jing than the ML himself...Also as 1/3 of the drama is done I really hope we get to know more about the ML and his backstory cause so far it's been lacking to the point that C-netz have been making multiple edits using MLs from the double/blossom as the ones with HanYan lol
But with that being said in all other departments the drama has been serving so far! So I hope it picks up on that department soon and will be perfect!

True...30 eps do seem too little for a historical cdrama like this one to unfold...But if they were planning for a part 2 shouldn't they have informed us before hand? The reason I haven't watched TFP yet is exactly cause of the part 2...If I knew this was the same case here I would let it marinate way more...
