I actually replayed episode 1 several times just so I can enjoy Devil God TTJ for a few more minutes 😂. And oh Lord, a Devil God he is, the red eyes, pure ruthlessness, cold-blooded, cruel and unmoved no matter what. As for Susu, it's the innocent Immortal Goddess, some might say naïve, but oh is she determined to end the Devil God. Everything about this drama is soooo good. Everyone's acting is on point, the CGI, the plot, the beautiful scenes .... Applause👏 👏👏

Well as per the novel, at the beginning he is confusing gratefulness with love as he is incapable of having feelings at all (well at least thats what i felt when i read the novel at the beginning). He will find out he loved Xiwu, but way later.

So far, I'd say its probably around 70-75 percent similar. Will have to see future episodes, but they are clearly maintaining a close follow of the novel. Some parts indeed are changed as for example when susu wakes up as xiwu, she is running in heavy snow from the bandits, one of her maids is killed and tantai jin is there when she is saved as well, he just goes back to his kneeling when they get home (as far as i remember, might not be 100 percent accurate). Also if i remember correctly it was bugs that ate humans (alive ones) and grew up even bigger than humans instead of crows (the wedding scene between xiao lin and bingchen). For me, I'd say that at the moment the changes are minor as the overall feeling and progression of the story is maintained.

That sentence might refer to Susu going back in time to remove Tantai Jin's devil bones tho, as it is considered by removing them he won't be able to become a devil king hence why "my birth is the death of you". Probably not in the literal meaning. But that would be only a speculation as the novel has two endings. Hope we at least get both.
