He had a spy arrested who committed high treason. She actually went to him to ask for that criminal’s freedom and after thinking it through decided to „sell“ herself to YCX. Now he wants to collect what he bought, but he actually doesn’t. He can’t bring himself to do that and he doesn’t want it that way. Of course the fact that he was even willing to „buy“ her is not a positive aspect and not something most audiences would like to see from a ML in a romance context. But these are the facts. I‘m curious to see how they resolve this huge ugly situation and get them to become actually close.

I don’t dislike YCX. Up to episode 13 I actually thought he was wonderful and quite refreshing. I‘m not happy with the turn of events in 13 and 14, but I don’t dislike him. How I see the situation:

I don’t think he’s a bad guy. Very flawed, with heavy baggage from his upbringing and some views/morals askew, but definitely not a „bad“ guy per se. You also must consider the period this plays.

I loved „ Love of Nirvana“! I rewatch it every year. But not every story works for everyone and you don’t have to root for every couple.

IMO Cheng Lei is phenomenal. Where did you find him lacking so far?
I agree about XRH. She’s very pretty and some scenes are well done but mostly it’s not enough.

Does Mr Jin have an agenda? He is the most enigmatic character in this drama.
