I am happy to see Her Private Life on the list. It was the rare k-drama where I got to see a couple get to know each other and fall in love. That aspect of the drama was done really well. It's not a perfect show (the like-a-brother crushing on her and the drama focusing more on male lead's stuff toward the end) but it is romance done right. There was also sizzle and chemistry with the actors which helps. I didn't really think of this as a slow burn type drama but in hindsight it actually is.
I watched DAYS till the end. I loved it a lot! I can easily rewatch this any time. So, your think at the end of…
Wasn't there one specific channel in Korea that was like their version of Spike TV (probably now defunct) that was geared toward men. It had more action type dramas. Because I totally agree, most k-dramas are written for the female audience and, more often than not, by female writers.
This was a good drama. We're used to the stereotype of men having strong sexual urges with the whole womanizer…
I came here to read reviews to see if this is worth watching. I might check it out. One of the things dramas don't touch on is something I've seen in real life and that is the cheaters sometimes end up living happily ever after. This is an uncomfortable reality that doesn't get shown in dramas because everyone wants the cheater to get their just desserts.

Thank you for this. I have enjoyed Kingdom, but I will not waste my time. I can read spoilers for the origin story if it comes to that.
Through episode 8 and I would say yes if you want a light rom/com with a lot of normal tropes . Episode 5 has some of the funniest scenes I have seen in k-drama this year, and I needed the laugh.

Why is the rating so low?judging from the comments below it’s a good drama..Now I’m confused if I should watch…
It just hit Viki so I've only watched the first two episodes but I really like it so far. The guy is a tsundere and the gal is struggling so maybe people are a little tired of that, but I don't get why this went below 8. I like where it is going about the concept of what a true home is.
I just checked this out a few days ago and whipped right through it. I think one has to take a grain of salt at the over-the-top antics of the first few episodes but then it settles into a gem of a drama. I like that the relationship didn't change the fact that both still had issues. Being in love doesn't magically make everything ok. Also the shorter run time was beneficial.
With regard to comedy, if Mel Brooks can make fun of Hitler in The Producers, I think there is a place for making fun of a whole lot of things. Comedians are basically neutered right now because so much is off limits with the exception of like a Dave Chapelle and a few others who just don't care.
I think for Korea and really all over there are people who see counseling as a sign of weakness or you should just power through issues. This drama shows the normality of seeking help and the benefits of it but not like a magic cure.
Full disclosure -- I dropped this one. I've looked up the writer to make sure I stay away from her dramas. I didn't hate The Beauty Inside, but I also didn't finish it. Also, that was an adaptation from a movie so she had a framework to build on. Doom just made no sense pretty much from the get go. So I get she's a newbie writer but this star power wasted is just a cryin shame.
I am on episode 11 and having trouble getting motivated to continue. I feel like we are going into filler territory so might just wait and see if I should jump back in at episode 14 or so. The secondary romance is becoming more entertaining.
Where I come from (Greece), whenever we come across a celebrity in a public place we don't go near them ever for…
As an American, I am a bit horrified that people think our culture is displayed in movies and tv. Maybe a little but generally not so much especially for places not NYC or LA. With regard to Korean entertainment, the industry reminds me of the Hollywood studio system from the 1940ies and 1950ies as others have already mentioned. I do think one of the reasons that k-pop had been able to be maintained and grow is the obsessive fan culture. It is not healthy but it is the bread and butter of k-pop groups and because of social media is spreading to the West. I do appreciate that many Western consumers at least branch out much more.
By the way with regard to smoking, Korea has a horribly high amount of smoking that is why it is not allowed to be shown on their main tv stations. Celebrities are considered people who should show the best of themselves as their fans are looking up to them so when they get busted smoking it seems silly to many and I don't think it's the biggest deal these days, but they will get reamed for it.
The dating issues I will never get. There is an actor I like from Hong Kong and I don't think he's ever actually admitted to getting married. It's just like people know but no one talks about it. It's one of the weirdest things I've ever heard of so that isn't just a Korean thing.
I was enjoying this though I thought it was a little uneven but the last 5 minutes of episode 3 sealed the deal...that is a great set-up for the rest of the show.
I haven't made it past half hour of first episode of this drama, as I already found couple of major faults in…
Mr. Queen got hit with a scandal after its run so, no, it wasn't gonna get as much hype for award season. Pretty soon, there will be no one nominated for awards because everyone will be in a scandal. There's a new one every friggin week.
Ohh too bad. I'm just thinking of watching this drama. Is the law writing really that horrible? As horrible as…
All lawyer shows are ridiculous and are not in any way reality based. The thing about this one is the courtroom scenes were ridiculous but the drama was smart to actually not have that many. I liked the show but it definitely was stronger in the first half I would say.
Not gonna write a full review....this show had potential but it about broke me and stopped me from watching contemporary C-drama for a long while. The filler just kills it. It maybe could have been a solid 20 episode show...maybe. I think even that is a stretch. Actors were solid with good chemistry so it is too bad, but I recommend a skip on this one.
