So far, the first episode didn´t really convince me..it may be the character she has to play..but i my opinion, Park Min Young was overacting and I kept staring at her face..as something seems to be different from before..her face seemed to be frozen.. I kept forwarding. So..I am hoping that this is just the typical "first" episode and that the next ones will be better.
The beginning war really fun to watch, but then it just got repetitive and things didn´t really make any sense anymore...It would have been a good drama with 12 instead of 17 episodes. One thing that annoyed the hell out of me, why the OTP just didn´t come clean about their feelings...only in episode 17 were they really honest to each other.
It has been some time since a drama fascinated me as much as this one does...I can´t get enough of it. I really hope it won´t be a tragic ending..a HE wouldn´t feel right..but one that is open and leaves it to the viewers...
At first I didn´t want to watch it after knowing its ending...but am I glad I did! It is so beautiful, yes..it made me cry, but everything was on point, especially how everything came together in the last episode.
This drama started out really good, but after the sister appeared it became a total mess. Partit and Naweeya had almost no real screentime as a couple and the way Partit and Saruda switched back and forth was truly tirying! The ending and conclusion was too rushed.
I hope to see more of Peter Denman, but with a better character to play.
I am loving this drama more and more! Personally, I don´t find it boring at all. I love the way everything is handled and how the story progesses. We have 73 episodes and for such a long drama, I expect the characters to develop slowly. If the OTP already got together after the first 10 episodes, I would fear for the drama, because then there would probably be silly cliche plots, as there have been in other dramas. Moreover this drama shows a lot about women and their lives in ancient China. This makes the drama even more interesting.
Episode 28 was a highlight for me...Zhu Yi Long was excellent in his portrayal of Qi Heng...you could literally "see" in his eyes, how he broke inside, how his world shattered. I can´t wait to see how Qi Heng will develop...whether he will stay downtrodden and become a puppet, or whether this will totally change him, especially after seeing, that his friend and the woman he loves will marry.
William Feng is a hit and miss for me...I liked him in some dramas and in other dramas I found his acting boring. In this drama he becomes better and better each episode.
The drama titel really fits. It is the "story" of Ming Lan and not only about her love, but her life. So, I can understand, that some that went into this drama expecting lots of action or the love story to be the main focus, might be disappointed, but life is not only about love.
Maybe I shouldn´t have expected a lot or should have expected a fluffy drama...but I I was totally bored the first 2 episodes and wanted to fast-forward...the way everything was executed screams of dramas from over 10 years ago and cliche...the fighting scenes were bad and some of the costumes feel cheap in my eyes. I will put this on-hold for now, as my mindset is right now more for serious dramas like MingLan and Ever Night.
I am still trying to wrap my head around about what I have just watched. O_O It has been some time, since I have seen such a mess..the first 2 episodes seem as if the scriptwiter/s didn´t really know what they want to write and so they just threw everything together and created this mess. This is like a perciflage of some older dramas.. I have seen my fare share of makjang dramas, but this one takes the cake... Don´t even let me get started with the awful editing and with the costumes-- I will put this on-hold until it has finished airing.
This is one of those rare dramas that get better and better with each episode. Episode 1 had me almost dropping this drama, because everything in it was over the top and too dramatic...but I kept watching because I have read the novel. To those that read the novel: Treat the novel and the drama as 2 different stories, otherwise you are going to be disappointed. Personally, I do not find this drama boring at all. The OTP´s chemistry is great and their scenes have me giggling like crazy. Jin Han is an amazing actor, that is able to portray a wide variety of things and emotions with miniscule facial expressions. It is not a perfect drama, eg the aweful wigs and the overtop music and all those explosions lol..but so far, I am enjoying it a lot.
So, it seems I am the odd one here..but this drama is just an ok drama for me. It started good, but it was just too silly for my liking. It didn´t make me anticipate the next episodes. I kept fastforwarding. I would have dropped it, were it not for So Ji Sub..in my eyes, he was wasted in this role.
I kept forwarding.
So..I am hoping that this is just the typical "first" episode and that the next ones will be better.

So far only 60 chapters have been translated.
I hope to see more of Peter Denman, but with a better character to play.
