It has been some time since a J-dorama has me enthralled me as much as this one does.
I love the way it is shot. The acting is amazing and it touches me emotionally..
Some parts, such as her imagining things, remind me of the recent J-dorama "Pornographer"...then there are scenes, eg in episodes 5 and 6..the way they are shot, they remind me of the 2005 movie "Persuasion"...Some might find these scenes "too much in your face"..but to me, they are purely honest. Their facial expressions convey so many things...I could rewatch these scenes over and over again... The classical songs chosen for this drama fit really well into this drama and emphasize the atmosphere and whatever is going on in a certain scene.
It would have been great, if this drama were a little bit longer, as the ending seemed a little bit rushed, but this is my only regret.
I enjoyed the first episode a lot...The relationship betwenn the brothers is a nice change compared to other lakorns...but the one character that gets my blood boiling is the father...his promise to his friend seems to be more important than his son..and his son´s happiness...I found the enraptured look on his face, when he thought about the wedding between Din and Nu´Riya.. quite disturbing... It seems that Din´s mom knows how unhappy a loveless marriage can be, yes..she tells this her hubsand,..but that´s it, she does nothing more.....if she knows, then she should do more to prevent this marriage.
The first episodes were promising, but it turned to be a massive waste of time , at least for me. The story wasn´t that captivating and some of the actors "overacted" or "underacted", e.g. Amornsupasiri Arak seems to have only 5 different facial expressions in this drama.... I kept wanting to fastforward and after episode 10 I really did...I kept hoping that the drama would become better again...but no. Desptie being really grateful to the subbing team, I can´t recommend this drama.
Ok..the first 20 minutes were really really cringeworthy...but after that, there were some really cute and funny scenes. This movie is full of cliches, but you will smile at the end of it.
The beginning was quite good, but the last part was rushed and for me at least, it feels as if there is something missing, as if the movie is not complete. So it is a nice watch, but nothing I´ll watch again.
Well, haven't watch it yet. still waiting until the episodes completed. But you're saying, so it's not like 'Aom…
Aom & Mike were great...for me it doesn´t even compare with their Full House version in regards to storytelling and chemistry. The whole drama has been subbed. You find the link below.
I had high hopes for this remake..but for me at least, it is a disappointment...the actors tried their best, but the story felt disjointed, the bad editing inforced this even more. Another thing that bothered me was the OST...did they have to choose the same one..it didn´t fit at all..there were some moments that managed to catch my feelings...to feel happy or sad for the characters..but most of the time, I felt nothing and wanted to fast-forward.
So far I have seen the first 16 episodes with subs and I am liking it...yes..the script might not be the best and the editing is also not that good...but it never got boring and I am curious to see how the story will develop..I like William Chan´s character and Liu Yi Jun is great in his role.
Sadly, viki deleted the channel with the subs. You can download the hard-subbed episodes here. The video quality is not the best, but I checked some links and they seemed to be working: http://lakornsworld2.blogspot.com/2013/02/roy-mai.html
This is such a wonderful drama!! Really great acting and most of all a storyline with mature characters. It is quite intense and might not be everyone´s cup of tea. The storyline and the ending don´t feel forced...and one can also make up their own mind about the ending..if one prefers the manga ending or dreams up possible scenarios after episode 6. I am left with a satisfied feeling. For me it a fresh breeze of air in all the recent dramas which have BL content with younger and inexperienced actors.
I binge-watched this drama yesterday and I was more than pleasently surprised. To be honest, even though the K-version is one of those dramas I never want to have missed and I looved it back then, today its value is more of a nostalgic kind to me, than that of a really good drama.
Simply put and I might change my opinion after watching it with subs - I really really hope some kind soul with sub it!! - I prefer the Chinese interpretation of the novel over the Korean version.
There are some reasons for this: The relationship between the main couple seems to be more developed, the way it comes to pass more natural. They even have some really sweet scenes with good kisses. Yes, it doesn´t have the passionate scene of their first "adult" night, and this could have been handled better, but this is a Chinese drama after all and I am so glad that we got any kisses at all!!
Another important reason for prefering this drama, is that the relationship between Gao Xing and Jiang Shang Wu is better defined. Here we do not have this really awful and weird forced kiss scene between the 2, just because Jiang Shang Wu is unsure about his relationship with Han Xiao and is confused about his feelings for Gao Xing . This scene and how it is handled, where Choi Han Seong suddenly kissed Go Eun Chan makes my blood boil even today..the aftermath of it was poorly executed and too easily glossed over. Here we do not have it at all!
Yes, they really could have done without this weird coffee competition and the power struggle...but oh well. It is a Chinese drama and I can´t remember a modern C-drama, where there are no struggles over who runs a firm or gains power. I can live with it.
The way she left to learn more abroad doesn´t feel as forced and also not as sudden...
There are some more things I liked. But I will leave it at that for now. These are my thoughts after watching it raw and with the memory of the storyline of the K-drama-version. I might change them, after watching it with subs.
I am so glad that I gave this drama another chance. The first 4 episodes didn´t convince me at all..so I waited until it finished airing to give it another try. And today I binge-watched it.
This is my favourite "Meteor Garden" interpretation. Yes, the characters are flawed, but this makes them human and it is also sometimes nice to watch dramas, where I dislike some or many of the main characters´ traits, as it makes me reflect my own attitute and view of things.
Some things were glossed over, especially at the end, but this drama has character growth and most of all it doesn´t end abruptly, but gives closure and leaves me with a happy smile on my face.
Yes, not all acting was the best, but better than some other actors that have been longer in the film industry.
I would say this is one of those dramas, that you either like, or dislike.
I really really hope someone will sub this. Yes, there is a lot of political stuff going on, but!!! the chemistry between the main couple is off the charts..and finally!!! we have a real kiss..awww...
