This is one of those dramas where when it's all over I'm going to be overwhelmed with a feeling of, "Wtf do I watch now?" because I just love it so much. I'm not ready for it to end ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Jae Eon is Wattpad/Indie romance books bad boys come to life. A very cliched commitmentphobic, womanising, bad…
Lol it's so true though. Netflix LOVES those toxic relationship trope filled wattpad stories. After and Kissing Booth come to mind. This drama has strong After vibes.
Someone spoil the ending for me please. Everyone is saying it's a bad ending. Do the leads not end up together? If they don't end up together I'm not gonna bother continuing this.
This is like a 10/10 for ambition and attempting something different. Maybe like a 7/10 for execution. There were many plot holes and times when the characters did things that made very little sense. However, I personally thought it was thoroughly entertaining, especially from episode 6 onwards. Best things about this series: 1. They aren't in high school 2. The intro isn't ten minutes long 3. Action and suspense mixed with romance 4. Amazing chemistry between the actors 5. None of that I'm straight but I like you crap 6. Inspector M because... if you know you know ;)
I commented earlier but I have to say I am invested in this comment section XD. Any discussions relating to psychology and I am in. If anyone is interested, I think this video is really interesting because it is from the perspective of someone who actually has ASPD. Of course it is not a monolith and people are different but I do think it is important to see if from the perspective of someone who actually has the diagnosis. I had a roommate for about a year or so who had ASPD with sociopathic tendencies (not even remotely like the FL in IONTBO at all ) so if you are interested... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdPMUX8_8Ms&ab_channel=SpecialBooksbySpecialKids One thing he says for example is that he doesn't appreciate how ASPD is sensationalized in media which made me think of the FL in IOTNBO
I kind of viewed the dynamic between the brothers a bit differently. I actually think they did a wonderful job portraying a very realistic relationship. Gang Tae puts it on himself to care for Sang Tae, is overprotective, and has a hard time relinquishing control over his brother. Not because he is controlling, but rather because he feels like it is his duty and loves his brother so much that he is terrified something will happen to him. Sang Tae is not a burden but rather Gang Tae burdens himself when he doesn't even really have to. Meanwhile, Sang Tae is a lot more capable than anyone gives him credit for. He has so much potential to be more independent but is held back by Gang Tae. This is very true in real life also. Parents, caregivers, etc. feel the need to protect people on the autism spectrum and a lot of times they overburden themselves and are overly protective. They don't give them a chance to flourish independently when they are fully capable. I think that was the message they were trying to portray, and I kind of think that it is a lovely message. Totally agree about the ASPD depictions though :)
bad as in evil or bad as in an annoying playboy who didnt take no for an answer?
He definitely gives me those vibes. Like when he keeps trying to touch her even though she clearly doesn't want him to. Or when she asks him to step aside so she can walk past and he continues to block her. Then grabs her phone without her permission and proceeds to text her and won't take no for an answer when she says she doesn't want to meet in person... I like the drama, love the leads, but this character is not it.
IKR! I couldn't agree more. I rarely ever get SLS either. I'd like to add that the SML seldom shows up first,…
"he never backs off when told to" THIS! Also, for being a "nice" character they really like to go out of their way to ruin the FL's relationship and get her to cheat.
Great article! You hit on lot of things I have always felt about second leads. I myself pretty much never get SLS, sometimes I'm more attracted to the character myself, but I don't care if the female lead ends up with them. I also pretty much never feel bad for the second lead even when they are super "nice" especially when they are friends. I find their behavior often, like you said, entitled and manipulative. They often act like because they have been there for the female lead (with ulterior motives I might add) they are entitled to her love. They do nothing about their feelings for her until someone else comes along. Then they act like they have some sort of ownership over the female lead. They use their friendship as a way to guilt trip the female lead into liking them. Or once she is in a relationship, they will confess to make themselves feel better when a true friend would just be happy for them and keep their feelings to themselves to maintain their friendship.
I watched the first episode and part of the second episode and it was a no go for me. The cringe level was astronomical. Which episodes would you say are skippable and which ones are worth watching (if any) so far?
