Good plot, good casting, setting and atmosphere. It's my practice to always finish what I've started and, as a drama fan who's accustomed to watching 60 to 80+ episodes and even 100+ eps for makjang, this is really a fresh watch. To condense the novel into 36 episodes and expect that they can convey everything (like the depth of each character) is too much to ask. I must agree that the conflict in the story is not that strong but the coherence and pacing make up for that flaw.
To each their own, as they said, but one thing I like about it is that it's not that angsty. Imagine watching 40+ episodes with the leads always having misunderstandings and angst for almost half of the show? Or to be given a 5-minute (or second) happy ending? Sometimes we just need to watch and try not to find flaws in every single thing and let the story unfold, then we'll find ourselves enjoying the show.
Looking forward to another wuxia drama of Cheng Lei and Zhou Ye.
Three fights in an episode. I think that the fights were choreographed well and that she fought them well. A near…
Being in a war and a key player in battle already makes her at a higher tier than them. She experienced many battles and fought with many generals who were also strong and formidable (as mentioned by Rida Muzi during their fight in ep.12). Like I mentioned, I didn't expect her to be invincible, but against the bodyguard Ding Yi (considering it was her revenge fight) and Lei Hou-a spy who was never in the army before, she should have the upper hand. When in a warzone, she doesn't only look at herself but also her comrades, but her fights with those 2 are 1 x 1. She didn't have to think about anybody's welfare but herself. Skills, intelligence, ability and experience wise, she was on a different level than them. Take her fight with General Rida Muzi as an example. That's a good fight between 2 generals. (though I think her 1x1 fight with Ding Yi was more complex/fierce than that of Gen. Rida Muzi
But He Yan was poisoned and stabbed. She started from zero, again. With time she gets stronger.😉 Enjoy watching
Earlier episodes are fine earlier episodes are fine as she was poisoned and still recovering from fatal injuries from the fall. I'm talking about her fight with Lei Hou in the prison, before she fights General Rida Muzi in ep.12 and her revenge fight with Ding Yi in episode 9. All that fight was after she recovered.
I'm enjoying it (currently on ep.18) and as I said those are my only complaint.
as well as i remember when she was fighting He Rufei's guard she was blind... and Lei Hou... she said that she…
I understand the first fight as she was blind and with Lei Hou in the contest as she was still in the recovery period from poisoning, fatal fall and wolf attack.
I am talking about the fight with Ding Yi in ep.9 where she and Ding Yi were almost matched, considering it was her revenge fight.
And Lei Hou in ep.12 the prison fight before she faces off with Gen. Rida Muzi
I'm on episode 12. The only complaint I have is that they made the fl seems too weak. She is a general who also led her own troops and won numerous battles, yet in a 1x1 fight with He Ru Fei's rightman, Ding Yi they almost matched and so with Lei Hou, a spy. I'm not saying she should be invincible, but atleast they should show they were never on par with her.
Legend of Zang Hai took us on his journey for revenge. It's not just a brawl but a battle of skills and intelligence and Zhinu outwits them all. The romance is just a sub-plot, so I cannot complain about the slow-burning romance. The leads have strong chemistry. I find ZJY really gorgeous. Hope to see her and XZ in another drama.
I'm currently at episode 22, and I'm so hooked on the story. Also, ml and fl have strong chemistry. Their romance is just a sub-plot, so I will not complain about the slow-burning romance.
Doesn't matter where she was coming from, she was rotten to the core.
It's the type of character you'll either love or hate, but will always leave a deep impression. To each their own right? Imo, I don't think she's rotten. She did all that to stay relevant and keep her spot. She's done things that would eventually lead to her destruction.
I just finished my (cannot count how many times) rewatch, and what can you not like in this drama? - Good plot✅ - Ml is cunning and smart. If the enemy is smart, well he's always a step ahead✅ - Fl is also smart, not the damsel in distress type✅ -CP are well-coordinated, so truly well-matched with each other✅ -No fillers, all episodes are worth watching✅ -The actors can act✅
heyy, just want to ask if this is enemies to lovers, and if it is that so is it slow burn?
yes it does have the Enemy to lovers trope. It's not a slow burn, more like he realized his feelings for her a little too late (trope again). I must say LXY carried the show alone. MZY didn't showcase the acting prowess she showed in her last drama, Blossom.
Good plot, good casting, setting and atmosphere.

I'm rooting for Zhinu's revenge.
