I do not get those that say the two don’t have chemistry. Are we watching the same drama??? I’m genuinely confused with this assessment from some viewers. The romantic chemistry is supposed to develop when they become close. It won’t start from the beginning because they are making sure it’s strictly a master and disciple relationship until they start falling for each other. Episodes 15 and 16 showed A LOT of chemistry. And it’s only getting better.
The dragon scene in episode 16 made my jaw drop. Honestly the best visual effects/cgi I’ve seen in a cdrama ever. Wish there was a way to post that scene here. It was incredible.
I’m going to be quite honest with some of you, if you have dropped the drama you’re really missing out on the best XianXia drama in years. You can say I’m biased but I don’t care. Idk if you’re used to dramas where the main leads fall in love with each other, hurt each other and betray each other in the first 5 episodes but that is not the case for The Longest Promise. They are building up the storyline and the characters and the relationship between Shi Ying and Zhu Yan so when the pain comes later on you will feel it to the fullest. The story, the acting, the visual effects are all incredible. The fight scenes are also really well done. We’ve already seen some and they’ve been incredible so far.
I know a lot of you are familiar with CQL. The drama didn’t gain much traction in the beginning. Then it suddenly exploded in popularity after many episodes once the meaty part of the storyline came in.
So stop listening to internet trolls and enjoy this amazing drama where each episode is even better than the last.
I started the first episode last night and if I wasn't so tired I would have kept going as well. Episode 1 was…
Omg. Keep watching. I just finished episodes 15 and 16 and the drama keeps getting better. I saw the previews for episodes 17-20 and the story is getting more incredible.
Zhu Yan finally admitted to Shi Ying that she wants to be his first disciple. Her fight scene against Bai Xuelu was done really well. I’m happy Shi Ying didn’t let Da SiMing get his way.
I’m glad we’re finally in the stage where Shi Ying and Zhu Yan get more one on one time together. I’m looking forward to seeing them grow closer.
Zhi Yuan’s feelings for ZY are also starting to awaken. So the angst is coming soon. Also, the dragon finally made its first appearance. I wonder what problems it will bring.
Are my eyes deceiving me or does Xiao Zhan have little to no make up on as Shi Ying. I’m watching on Netflix on my big TV screen and even his moles are in HD. Saw many drama watchers praise XZ for not relying on heavy eye make up and eye liner. He looks so natural as Shi Ying. Can’t believe someone this handsome exists! 😍
Drunk Zhu Yan was a hoot! And you’re telling me all those actions of hers during that scene with Shi Ying were Xiao Zhan’s ideas? That man is a genius. He’s gonna become a director one day. He’s so good at everything! 😍 Here’s the link to clip of the bts and that scene: https://twitter.com/madetolove1991/status/1677242892430065664?s=20
Episodes 11 and 12 were so good! There was a combination of everything. We saw Shi Ying display his badass skills in episode 11 when he faced Qing Gang. The visual effects in that scene were incredible. He was so HOT. We saw Chong Ming be even more mischievous. Can’t believe he turned Shifu into a cute little furry animal. 🤣 Because of how strong and powerful SY is you would have thought he’d turn into some formidable animal instead of a cute little cat/mink. 😅 Zhu Yan’s drunk scene was also very funny. Episodes 11 and 12 were so much fun! The drama gets better every day!
Chong Ming is such a menace! Can’t believe he did that to our poor Shifu. 🤣 I love their friendship lol. Those scenes with “Cat Shifu” were so cute and funny!
Every time Shi Ying does something cool I have to rewatch it a 100 times. Shi Ying is so HOT. 😍 Today’s fight scene in episode 11 was amazing! The cgi was so good I’m honestly so pleasantly surprised every time the drama brings out this quality.
Xiao Zhan was interviewed about his portrayal of Shi Ying. Here’s what he had to say about “expression:”
"I feel that everyone have sketched out expressionless like a mask kind of thing. Being expressionless does not mean that the character's face is really paralyzed, it's not like he has to be cold because the script asks for him to be cold. It has to come from his childhood survival environment, he was unable to contact the outside world, and even more so any ladies, who could have the possibility of becoming his person of calamity. Therefore he became such a cold and standoffish person."
I see so many actors play cold characters that have no expression and the result is poor. I’m so happy Xiao Zhan doesn’t just memorize his lines. He puts time and effort into understanding his characters and that’s why he succeeds every time.
It’s always the stans of the ugliest actors with the most horrible acting skills who try to come for XZ. They actually think this is a competition instead of complete domination from XZ. I’ll just leave it at that. Lol Ignore the troll everyone. Let’s focus on the drama. 😌
People been saying Zhu Yan is childish but she’s just 15 yet Chong Ming being 200yrs is more childish and petty…
Exactly. I really don’t get the critique of her. She’s a 15/16 year old acting like one. It also leaves tons of room for character development which is the whole point. Lol
