According to the director's count of days they started at the beginning of January. Neo joined the crew later in February. I don't know how much they had filmed before. Apart from that Neo had some trips to Sanya during that time so he wasn't on the filming set all that time. So they could have filmed a lot without him and we cannot assume that it covers only season 3 of the anime (or the whole season 3 assuming that 1 & 2 are included).
Despite what the MDL page says, Wang Ye is not the protagonist in the anime. And the drama castlist has never been officially announced so I cannot even tell whether Wang Ye is the main role or not....
As for your suggestion, I have no intention of watching the anime, or the drama.
I can understand that for the Chinese people this is the "national value" because it's their anime and not Japanese. But I'm not Chinese so I don't need to pretend that I like the idea of Neo participating in that production (instead of filming another movie or drama that would be up to his and his audience's expectations).

But no matter what, to add to my prev post below, this is also a curse for Hou Ming Hao to always choose dramas which when broadcast turn out to be only a part of story with no ending at all (Cambrian Period, Inference Notes, The Lost Tomb 2, Psych Hunter, Our Times) ... it really becomes frustrating to watch more stories like that.

It cannot be "confirmed" like some people claim as there is a new rumour saying that Wang Zi Qi is filming 《与凤行》 with Zhao Li Ying and Hou Ming Hao in June. The rumour appeared a week or so ago and is now all over the Chinese weibo. "Yu Feng Xing" is an obvious rumour but there wouldn't be such one if this drama "The Love You Give Me" were already announced and scheduled for Wang Zi Qi to be filmed next month.
Wang Zi Qi is filming now for his new drama 《黑白密码》 and there is no news of him filming this drama above if they are "confirmed", give the source (by "source" I mean Chinese direct page , not twitter)

In the interview for the Super magazine Feb 2022 he said that he hopes to appear in more meaningful works which can resonate with the audience and "bring emotional value to people, or let them think about life."
How come these are zombies again? Because somehow in my perception zombies don't fall into a category of meaningful themes. I could sacrifice and watch such stuff for Neo once or twice but after The Lost Tomb and Psych Hunter this will be already the third drama featuring zombies... this is too much to ask... I don't mind watching action provided the plot is set in a sort of probable reality, not a fantasy world filled with some demonic creatures.
Are there really no proper offers that he's pushed to take on any role so as not to stay idle? Or are his own choices so missed? (i really don't know... )
