I'm on ep6 and it's been a while since a female character revolted me that much. Tbh i cursed her while having a strong desire to destroy her countless times in my head every time i see her on screen. I've never liked any of the role Li Mo Zhi played, particularly the FL in My Lethal Man. But i hate her in this drama for an entirely different reason. While in MLM she was sloppily written as a needy damsel in distress with little and very laughable character development, in here she's a fully fleshed out character with solid and believable development, who's a rage-inducing character but defo not a cannon fodder. LMZ pulled off her role quite well, and i applaud her acting, cuz i genuinely hate Lian Hua Er to my bone. Unfortunately i've associated LMZ with this despicable irredeemable figure who's quite adept at making me silently seething with rage and only short of flipping tables. I hope she could be able to erase this negative image in my head with her future roles.
first time i heard ASMR sound for kisses in a drama. And dayum that was stimulating :v . I'm here for the chemistry, not the plot, and Yang Se Jong made sure he delivered!
ML is a huge simp and i'm lovin' it! He's the core essence of the show and I only watched scenes where he was…
To sum up, justice is not upheld. Villain got away with impunity. The current ML ended up forever alone and the alternate-reality ML doesn't have any memory of them together, but they meet again. And i'm here left not knowing what to feel lol. Knowing that Wei Xuan He is a rage-inducing character, i skipped all of his scene, so i didn't feel as enraged when he didn't get his retribution. But had i done so i would have felt really cheated just like other viewers. Thank goodness i read spoilers beforehand.
Romance-wise it's quite bittersweet, but before it got to the good part where ML falls uncontrollably in love with FL again, it just ended at the rendezvous. I am left hanging and very conflicted here. Acting-wise ML was great, he nailed his gaze and expressions in prior episodes. However he couldn't pull off the final departure scene unfortunately. Utter despair and intense anguish is probably too challenging for him, or maybe my expectation went too high.
I wanna rate it high because ML did a good job, but the plot and other characters annoy me so much that without ML I'd have rated it 3/10. So I decide to give this a very generous 7 for the romance plotline could be summed up as 'strong buildup, weak wrap-up'. I would recommend skipping all the annoying parts without guilt because you wouldn't miss anything (except for the annoyance) and focus your energy on ML only.
ML is a huge simp and i'm lovin' it! He's the core essence of the show and I only watched scenes where he was in and skipped the rest, which is about two thirds of the drama lol. I agree with the comments below about FL's unbefitting wardrobe choices. The ending didn't pay off so i dropped this at ep 20. Still the journey has been worthwhile thanks to ZYC who pulled off his role very convincingly. Looking forward to his future works. -- edit: ok i couldnt resist and watched the final ep. Ending spoiler below:
nothing special about the plot bUtttt my holy fox their chemistry is explosive! Plenty of smouldering kisses with tongue action galore that leaves me frantically fanning for myself with my head in a reel! Plus ML's hot masculine bod and passion, his blazingly intense gaze while he's simping... I feel so blessed that i found this gem <3
btw tag 'Steamy Kiss' needs to be added asap! 'Super Steamy Kiss' if possible to add more emphasis, as it sets the bar much higher compared to other dramas with the same tag.
FL is a scatterbrained damsel in distress who sometimes stands up for herself and sometimes doesn't; while ML is an arrogant, insensitive, self-entitled, prejudiced, and borderlined misoginistic chaebol kid who imposes on FL. Plot heavily relies on coincidences and romance feels really forced. Too cringey & tacky for my taste.
Fluffy & light-hearted romcom with on-point chemistry. Both leads gave excellent & organic performances that made me totally sold on their love. After watching a lot of trashy romance with lousy acting to cleanse my palate lately, this one is on another level, successfully reviving me from my drama slump. Although the plot is simple and a bit cliched with some one-dimensional side characters, their romance delivers and defo offsets these flaws. The parents' unconditional support while rooting for their children's happiness is also the highlight of this show. There are 3 kiss scenes that blessed my screen and i rewatch lots. I skipped the 2nd couple entirely however, as i don't find them clicking at all.
Finally, i gotta say i enjoyed this drama far better than WIFTY because it kept me engaged for the majority of its duration as i feel the urge to complete the show, as opposed to WIFTY and HL which i didn't finish cuz i lost interest towards the end after the couple got together. Overall 8.5 and highly recommended.
Defo will not convince myself to watch Liu Te's drama again. Got enough of his emotionless & blank stone face throughout the entire series -_-
Meanwhile, FL is a typical grovelling doormat & incompetent damsel in distress who happens to be strapped for money and in need of ML's salvation in cdramaland. She's also ML's emotionally needy cinderella babysitter who would easily compromise her principles in exchange for his affection.
Conflicts are resolved as if there had been no conflict whatsoever. Very unconvincing development.
oh my.... 😳 my eyes are blissfully filled with ML's abs that i don't care about anything else \͝(‡)͝/ 🫣 -- edit: on ep4 and i'm sad to say but his abs are not enough to make me lose all rationality lol. Very weak build-up and lame excuse for breakup. Dropped. Hope to see ML (and his abs) in a better written series next time.
Their chemistry is very lukewarm and ML's acting is not up to it. When she found out the truth and walked away his expression was so stiff and underwhelming, as if it wasn't that serious to him, or he wasn't that afraid of losing her. He doesn't have the knack for portraying loss and desperation. The way they reconciled feels as if they went through a small quarrel instead of a carefully planned-out betrayal. I skipped from ep7 to ep15 and i don't think i missed anything, which means it's lengthy and repetitive despite being a mini series. Sorry but i'll have to give this a pass.
thank god i have already watched Yang Ze's other dramas where he was ML. Otherwise i would associate him with this despicable character here and this bad first impression would prevent me from enjoying his other works. His character here is such a rage-inducing cannon fodder.
the ML here is pure trash. prideful, selfish, narcissistic, misoginistic, coquettish, & prone to infidelity. A verbally and physically abusive noble idiot. The moment he slapped her across the face i dropped. 1.5/10 with 1.5 points dedicated to the steamy kiss on ep21. Other than that there's nothing else worth watching. Trash plot, trash characters, and poor acting/forgettable performance from FL who was unnecessarily melodramatic.
so many rage-inducing, hormonal, superficial, judgmental, pretentious side characters who are only there as cannon fodders. I just can't stand FL's mom. She gives me migraine.
