leads' chemistry is so off. And their love lacks depth. Plot is very predictable and shallow. Comedy is slapstick. Characters are one-dimensional. Dropped at ep 27. Neo had better chemistry with the FL in A Girl Like Me. His acting in this drama is kinda bland imo.
lamest character writing ever. FL is a suicidal despo. She would use her death to force ML's hand and act pitiful in order to guilt-trip ML into complying. I dropped on ep20 after her tacky self-deprecation as a declaration of her unrelenting love for ML. Something like "I'll be your slave if you give me your love" 🤮. Girl where's your self-respect? Urgh.
Because of the poor script Wallace Chung's acting feels super forced and wooden and cringey. This is his worst-acted drama ever. Other than his solid execution of martial choreography, there's nothing worth watching here.
If you come here expecting justice to be upheld, don't bother lol. This has the most rage-inducing 2ML and you'd end up fuming at the writer for turning him into an angel by the end. I guess they're out of ideas about how to resolve the climax. Here comes my long-winded rant...
Goodness 2ML makes me feel queasy to my core. He should be jailed for a lifetime like a criminal he is, not thanked as if he was the hero of the day and get away with impunity. Poor my FL got gaslit, manipulated, and victimized. Her entire reality was built on lies for a decade of her life. This scum even has the audacity to use guilt-tripping and victim-blaming on her, making her accountable for all the shit that HE has caused.... *deep sigh* *smh* *speechless*. 2ML deserves getting abandoned by FL. His crippled legs as well as his impotence are his karma. He brought it upon himself. I don't feel an ounce of sympathy for him. Neither love nor his disability is a reason for him to strip her off her right to happiness and her freedom of choice. It was his covetousness, entitlement, possessiveness, and obsession and brought calamity upon her life, which he doesn't even plan on stopping. That scum wreaked all that havoc on her, getting into a car crash along with her against her will, making her lose her memories, lying to and manipulating her, blaming her for that crash that he caused, guilt-tripping her, leeching off her and making her work her ass off, basically enslaving her, threatening to bring ruin to her, and still has the audacity to call ML a homewrecker??? He's THE pathetic homewrecker himself.
In retrospect, I'm very glad that the whole drama is actually a story about how 2ML digs his own grave. He used to have everything, and then he has everything stripped away from him, just like the way he ruined FL's life. He deprived ML of his parental rights and his 10 years of happiness, then his kid got taken back to his rightful parent. Now he has nothing and everyone he loves leaves him. His whole world crashing down because FL's love for him is nonexistent. He could do nothing being crippled on a wheelchair, and he doesn't even have the right to. Then after too many years refusing to accept reality, he finally realized that he's the scumbag that ruins the life of the woman he loves and her kid whose life got robbed off by him. How pitiful, but at least he came to his senses by not sinking any further into depravity and becoming totally detestable and irredeemable. That's about the extent of my sympathy for him. Him repenting does not redeem any of his loathsome deeds though.
Finally, my girl FL you don't owe him anything, and you don't have to feel guilty for loving ML. Just feel free and enjoy the happiness with the man you deserve. --- PS: just had to get that out of my system.
I tried so hard to like the story. Is it just me who feels this is super bland?
not just you. I struggled to finish it. The story is passable (¬_¬). ML is my least favorite character in the series. He maintains his aloof facade throughout the whole drama. His apology to FL doesn't feel apologetic at all. FL still bends for him all the time, and i got a feeling that ML only loves her because of how much she sacrifices for him. I watched it for the high rating, but it's overhyped and overrated imo.
After 2 weeks i still couldn't over this drama because of FL's phenomenal acting that left me gutted to my bone.…
been a month already and some scenes are still living rent-free in my head huhu. Chemistry is on another level. Lost count of how many times i'd rewatched. There are only a few dramas that could give me withdrawal syndrome this severe. I'm on a drama-dropping spree now. Haizz how am i supposed to get over this slump ಠ~à²
If you wanna test your ability NOT to get enraged at the most rage-inducing ML, this is the right test for you lol. So instead of feeling triggered, I'm here to laugh at how destructive the leads can be to each other (and ofc to gawk at those packs), and yes there are lots of lol moments where i went 'holy shit this is outrageously traumatizing'. Considering how unforgivably toxic ML has been, I'm not satiated with the number of bullet holes that FL bestowed on ML on her wedding day. She should've left a few more holes lol. To me the perfect ending is when everyone died, so i've ignored the final 2 minutes that indicates they're alive and together. That said, FL's acting is well-delivered, and ML's smouldering abs commands my undivided attention (ʘ‿ʘ)
a total waste of time. So many bigoted and rage-inducing busybodies. The script must have been written by a delusional teenager. Should've heeded the reviews.
on ep 13 and ML is totally not my cup of tea. IMO he's a total selfish coward, for refusing to tell her the truth for 17 years when he could have done otherwise; for pushing her away for fear she would leave him first (after which he witnessed her trying desperately to solve her father's case in vain) instead of giving her a proper explanation and apologizing; for showing her affection and then rejecting her and then leading her on again and then rejecting her again; for raining on her idea of opening a cafe instead of supporting her when he fully already knew it was her dream, for trying to sabotage her effort merely because he 'deems' that her business would be unprofitable and unsuccessful, for chickening out and asking her to give up on upholding justice for her client and fighting for what she believes in instead of siding with her and accompanying her to solve the case. He doesn't have her best interest at heart, doesn't respect her judgment and choices, nor does he root for her success. He would rather watch her miserable and tormented for years by concealing the truth from her to keep her from leaving him than letting her know and decide for herself.
On the other hand, i applaud FL for being true to herself and forthcoming about everything. She's always herself and wouldn't change to accommodate his cowardice and insecurity. She still stands for what she believes and fights for justice. Despite all his fatal flaws she still decides to forgive, understand, and accept him for who he is. I get that she loves him, but I don't think i could do that if i were her, since i don't think someone who doesn't even have the courage to admit he likes her deserves it. I mean, am i supposed to empathize with his noble idiocy just because he has also suffered (unnecessarily) due to his cowardice? It's not like he has no other choice. He could've totally solved the problem by NOT taking away her freedom of choice in the matter, NOT playing hard to get while keeping her oblivious just to make her chase after him and wait for him endlessly, NOT swooping in and out of her life, NOT hurting her dignity with his indecisiveness and all those coward rejections. But because of his cowardice she thought there was something wrong with herself and thought that it was her fault. I mean, he just stood by and watch that for years while doing nothing, and then still has the audacity to expect her to understand, sympathize, and forgive him after all that's said and done???? And his reason is because he was afraid she would leave??? uhmmm, that's just stupid, selfish, coward, and simply unacceptable to me. --- btw why do kdrama writers have to portray women drinking alcohol as hammered wackos incapable of controlling their behaviours and irresponsible for the consequence thereof, who often embarrass themselves by kissing or throwing themselves onto another person? FL gave me so much secondhand embarrassment *facepalm* *sigh* --- edit: well turns out ML is not incorrigible. Still i can't bring myself to like him :/. I get that everyone has flaws but I don't think i can accept his.
