I'm currently at episode 10.With every episode that passes, I despise Prince Duan more and more. He’s such a hypocrite. He claims to hate his brother for being a tyrant and even plans a rebellion to overthrow him, yet he shows zero concern for the people. He’s perfectly fine watching them suffer and die of hunger instead of actually helping them. Every move he makes is driven by ambition any, not by any genuine care for the people he pretends to fight for.
Honestly, the first six episodes felt just okay. Nothing bad but nothing particularly impressive either. However, the last six episodes were a huge step up. The story became more engaging and now I'm enjoying it more and more.
While I totally agree with your comment I have to say I loove that your profile picture is Zhou Yiran!! Born to…
I feel you so muchh. The scenery in To The Wonder and Born to Be Alive is breathtaking, it makes me want to leave everything behind and disappear into those vast, open lands of Kazakhstan /Tibet/Mongolia. Just endless skies, mountains and silence.
I was always worried about He Qing Yuan but I truly believed he couldn’t die since he’s one of the main supporting characters. Turns out I was completely wrong. I'm such a clown 🤡. At this point, it feels like Bai Ju is the only one I can still put my faith in.
I know No Pain No Gain is a comedic drama but I can’t help feeling sad for Pei Qian. He’s the perfect example of “suffering from success.” His company is doing incredibly well, yet he can’t enjoy it at all because it leaves him with almost no money. While he watches his employees live comfortably, he barely scrapes by at the end of each month. Even setting the money aside, moments of pride and fulfillment turn into sources of stress and anxiety instead. He’s constantly on edge and forced to lie to the people who work for him. Even though the drama has plenty of fun moments, his situation is genuinely sad and I’m really curious to see what pushed that wealthy man to propose such an absurd idea in the first place.
you've already decided on your POV, so pls don't watch.
Why shouldn’t I watch the drama? I’ve only seen the first four episodes and I simply pointed out that the story seems to lean toward some propagandistic elements so far. As a viewer, I think I have every right to comment on what I’m watching. Comment sections exist for open discussion, both positive and negative. And after all, only four episodes have aired, the drama may very well take a different direction later on.
Tibet has significant mineral reserves and China has been actively developing them in recent years. While mining and resource extraction bring economic benefits, they also cause serious environmental damage, that has raised significant concern among local people. Many Tibetans feel they do not benefit fairly from this resource wealth and have little say in decision making, which has led to tension and protests. From the first four episodes, it’s already clear that the drama propagandise the situation around mining in Tibet. I want to continue watching to see where the story is ultimately headed.
Honestly, with censorship and the push for realism, it feels like the story is heading toward an ending where the female lead leaves the novel and returns to reality. If that really happens, I just hope the male lead also turns out to have been inside the novel all along, so they can reunite and continue their relationship in the present. Otherwise, it would feel far too bittersweet.
What a manipulator. Nobody believes you lady.
